Weekend in Krasnodar: what is worth seeing in the city

Where else to go in Krasnodar

Galitsky Park. Its official name is Krasnodar City Park.
The territory is located next to the stadium of the Krasnodar football club. Both the park and neighboring sports facilities (including a black glass stadium) were built with money from businessman Sergei Galitsky, the former owner of the Magnit retail chain. This green area is completely different from other parks in Russia. It was designed by German architects, it looks stylish and modern, somewhat reminiscent of the Moscow Zaryadye. Galitsky Park has green terraces, symmetrical alleys, observation decks, a skate park, a climbing wall, a water labyrinth, a pond with decorative fish, fountains, and art objects. Bicycle and electric scooter rentals are available.

City garden. Located near the monument to Catherine II. In this recreational park you can walk among rare trees, go on rides and feed ducks in a small pond.

Dmitrievsky Square. A place for walks on the shore of Upper Pokrovskoye Lake. The square was recently reconstructed, it became fresh and cozy.

Chistyakovskaya Grove. A spacious green recreation area where you can wander among spreading trees, play sports, or frolic in an amusement park. Mass celebrations are often held here - on Maslenitsa or the May holidays. There is also a book fair and an open-air summer cinema on the territory of the grove.

Botanical garden (arboretum). Here you can lie on the grass or watch animals - for example, nimble squirrels or self-confident peacocks. Bicycle rental is available.

St. Catherine's Cathedral (Kommunarov St., 52). Built at the beginning of the 20th century in the Russian-Byzantine style.

Alexander Nevsky Cathedral (Postovaya St., 26). Built in the 19th century, destroyed under the Bolsheviks and restored in the early 2000s. By the way, there are about 40 churches in total in Krasnodar.

German village. This is a residential complex on the northwestern outskirts of the city. It is quiet and cozy here, the atmosphere is reminiscent of a European city and a weekend in Kaliningrad. There is also a nice lake where you can feed the ducks.

Kuban embankment. It starts at the Turgenevsky Bridge and continues along the Kuban River. This is a well-maintained tiled street, complete with lanterns and benches. There are modern residential complexes nearby. If you rent an apartment here, you will have somewhere to go in the evening.

Mansion of Love (Pushkina St., 61). Also known as the Moorish Palace. This building was built by local architect Ivan Rymarevich-Altmansky at the beginning of the 20th century. The house with two unusual domes is recognized as an architectural monument, but today it is in deplorable condition.

Rozhdestvenskaya embankment. Another well-appointed place for walking along the water surface of Kuban. There is a pedestrian zone, playgrounds for active recreation, areas for riding scooters and bicycles, art objects, well-groomed trees and shrubs.

Krasnodar

The most interesting part of the city is the center (highlighted in purple) of the city. The main street is Krasnaya, along it there are places of interest for tourists. Firstly, these are old buildings of merchants from Tsarist Russia, dilapidated houses with colorful balconies, estates that belonged to noble people of that time, as well as historical monuments. Secondly, it is in this part of the city that all the entertainment life is located: parks, squares, drama theatre, musical theatre, puppet theater, cinema, libraries, bars, clubs, restaurants, music venues. Thirdly, although the city is quite calm, the center remains the safest area of the city, it is constantly patrolled by the police and the Cossack army. This cannot be said about other, less popular areas in the city of Krasnodar. Therefore, it is best to settle in the center, on Krasnaya, Mira, Lenina, Pashkovskaya, and Long streets. By settling here, you will be within walking distance of the beautiful places of the city. In addition, it is convenient to stay near the Krasnodar-1 railway station, they offer cheaper options, and getting to the center is not difficult, you can even walk. In the area of Suvorov, Gogol, the beginning of the World and Lenin, you can stroll along quiet streets where colorful houses of historical value have been preserved. It was from here that the construction of the city began, which is why this area is considered the Old Center.

The most developed street, lined with modern buildings and teeming with a large number of people and vehicles, is Northern. From this street you can also walk to Krasnaya, so you can choose a hotel in this area without any problems. There are several hostels here, the cost per night is from 350 rubles, quality is 9 out of 10. The cost of a night in a hotel in the city center is from 1800 rubles.

City districts:

Central: the district that was described above.

Yubileiny : considered the most modern residential area of the city, located along the Kuban River. Here you can always relax on the shore in wild conditions, barbecue and enjoy nature, as if outside the city. Here is Rozhdestvensky Park, which attracts Krasnodar residents on weekends for natural recreation. You can play active games, leave your children to play in a fenced and guarded complex, barbecue, and sunbathe. But you shouldn’t swim in Kuban. The center can be quickly reached by minibus (about 20 minutes). There are several hotels on the shore, the cost per night is from 2 thousand rubles.

Festivalny : also a residential area of the city, but not so modern - the architecture of Khrushchev times. There's not much to see here, but it's close to the center. There are a large number of hotels and guest houses of different price categories located here; there are options that are much more expensive than on the street. Red.

Cheryomushki: a very green area. The main representative street is Stavropolskaya, it is pleasant to walk along it. Nearby is the Sunny Island Park of incredible natural beauty. But one minus is that it takes about an hour to get to Krasnaya from some corners. There are inexpensive hotels here - from 1500 rubles. per night.

Komsomolsky and Pashkovsky: I do not recommend renting a hotel room in these areas. Firstly, it is far from the tourist center, and secondly, these are not very favorable areas. Pashkovsky is called the Gopnik district. Of course, it’s not that scary there, but it’s better not to check.

ZIP: it is far from the center, but here you can rent an apartment at a good price if you want to stay longer in Krasnodar.

The remaining areas are of little interest to tourists.

What to see in Krasnodar with children

Park of the 30th anniversary of the Victory. A place for the best outdoor recreation in Krasnodar. Located on a peninsula near the Kuban River. The park has many gazebos and attractions: carousels, a Ferris wheel, an autodrome, trampolines, a paintball club. In the central part there is the Museum of Military Glory (including the Museum of Military Equipment in an open area). On the northern edge of the park there is the Kissing Bridge, which is especially revered by newlyweds.

Sunny Island Park. Located on Lake Staraya Kuban. The territory here is also vast, you can take your child to the attractions. Sunny Island also has a cafe, a planetarium and a Safari Park, where giraffes, camels, tigers, zebras, lemurs and other exotic animals walk.

Swimming pools. In Krasnodar it is impossible to arrange an all-inclusive sea holiday, but recently modern outdoor swimming pools have appeared here: perfectly clean water, sun loungers, bars for adults and animation for children. Among such complexes, we highlight “Santorini” (3rd Trudovaya St., 1b) and “Sundali” (Aerodromnaya St., 168/7). Entrance - from 1,000 rubles for an adult and from 800 rubles for a child.

Oceanarium "Ocean Park" (TRC "Galaktika", Uralskaya St., 98). A large aquarium complex, the main feature of which is a shark feeding show. You can also go into an underwater tunnel filled with other marine life.

Museum of Retro Cars (Voronezhskaya St., 124). Here you can trace the history of the automobile industry since 1907.

Joule Park (Zipovskaya St., 5). An interactive amusement park for children, in which natural and scientific phenomena are presented in a non-standard form. Here, together with your child, you can study optical illusions, walk through mirror labyrinths and inverted rooms, take part in scientific experiments, etc.

If you often travel with children, we also recommend spending a weekend in Kazan: there is a lot of interesting things for your child there - for example, one of the best water parks in Russia.

Weekend in Krasnodar: what is worth seeing in the city

Beautiful, sunny Krasnodar is included in the rankings of the best cities every year and deservedly so. First of all, the number of parks, squares and flowerbeds, the amazing cleanliness and tidiness of the streets are impressive. The narrow streets of the old center, paved with paving stones, with preserved architectural monuments, coexist with busy streets with an endless stream of cars and glass high-rise buildings. In the capital of Kuban, everyone will find a place to their liking.

Spending a weekend in Krasnodar will be interesting for residents of Rostov-on-Don, Volgograd, Sochi, Novorossiysk and other nearby cities, the journey from which will not take a little time.

Approximate travel budget for one person: from 4,500 rubles.

  • Round-trip train tickets from 1,900 rubles*;
  • 1 night in a hostel - from 450 rubles* or in a 3* hotel - from 1,100 rubles*;
  • The average bill in a cafe is 400 rubles;
  • Walks around the city, travel on public transport, souvenirs - 800 rubles.

You can get from Moscow to Krasnodar by train in 1.5 days or by plane in 2 hours. Ticket prices start from 1,750 rubles and 2,290 rubles, respectively. There are 14 flights from Moscow to Krasnodar per day and the same number of trains departing.

1. Red Street. This is Arbat on a local scale: many monuments, city museums, the Musical and Drama theaters, the Philharmonic and even the main temple are located on this street. In addition to architectural and historical monuments, there are many cafes and restaurants. Every gourmet will be able to choose an establishment to suit his taste. On weekends, Krasnaya hosts fairs and performances by street performers. The total length of the street is 6 kilometers.

2. Singing fountain near the Aurora cinema. In 2014, a huge singing fountain appeared next to the famous cinema, the evening “show” of which is really worth watching. During the warm season, every day from 20:30 to 23:00, any passerby can watch a light and music show performed to classical music. Jets of water soaring into the air to the height of a 5-story building are a grandiose and incredibly impressive sight.

3. Sunny Island Park. One of the favorite vacation spots of Krasnodar residents. The park is actually located on an island whose area is more than 39 hectares. On its territory you can find entertainment for every taste and age. There is a tennis court, an ice skating rink (open only in winter), an amusement park, an “upside down” house, various cafes, restaurants and the largest private zoo in Russia - the Safari Park with an area of 9 hectares. The zoo is home to giraffes, tigers, hippos, lemurs, monkeys and other animals: about 120 species and more than 1,500 individuals from all over the world. Many children are especially impressed by the Dinopark - an area inside the zoo inhabited by realistic moving figures of dinosaurs - about a hundred exhibits in total. When visiting the zoo, don't forget to bring treats for the squirrels - they are very tame here.

4. FC Krasnodar Stadium. In 2016, a new grandiose attraction appeared in the city - the stadium of the Krasnodar football club with 34 thousand seats. Every resident of the city knows that the stadium was built by a private individual - the owner of the Magnit retail chain, Sergei Galitsky; construction took 3 years and 20 billion rubles. The UEFA Commission assigned the highest, fourth category to the stadium, and we, of course, advise every guest to visit it. The stadium is not accessible outside of the playing season, so you should plan your trip around the game schedule, which can be viewed here. Impressive architecture, well-groomed surroundings, a large and unusual park nearby, interior equipment with the latest technology - all this deserves attention.

5. Thai Restaurant (THAI). Those seeking gastronomic experiences should definitely visit the atmospheric THAI restaurant. Its peculiarity is its unusual interior, stylized as a tropical forest. Large exotic trees are entwined with vines, the walls resemble the ruins of an ancient temple, and twilight reigns all around. The menu consists of Thai dishes.

6. Cemetery of river ships. On the site of the old cargo port, relatively close to the city center, abandoned barges while away their days in the backwaters. This place is quite specific and gloomy, but very interesting. On both sides of the backwater there are old barges and cranes, docks and outbuildings. It is quite clean here and there is practically no garbage typical of abandoned places.

7. Oz Mall shopping and entertainment center and the children's city of Minopolis. Oz Mall is famous for its “cosmic”, very original architecture. The interior matches the appearance and resembles a space station from science fiction films. The range of goods here is quite traditional, but one of the children's entertainment centers is worth traveling here even from the other end of the city. It's called Minopolis. This place is unique for Krasnodar - on an area of more than 5,000 square meters, a real city has been built for children, with all the necessary infrastructure. Every new “resident” of the city is required to receive a passport and a certain amount of cash. Then everything is like in life - you can start earning money, or you can spend it all. Children from 4 to 14 years old have access to 150 different professions, each of which has its own difficulties and characteristics. Children under 7 years of age are allowed into the city only when accompanied by their parents; children over 7 years of age can be in the territory independently.

8. One Theater. A very atmospheric and pleasant theater with non-standard original productions. The cozy interior with various decorative elements in the loft style captivates and enchants. The theater was created in an old Soviet building, which the authors of the project deliberately did not restore, they only equipped it with everything necessary and added elements of art decor. Theatrical productions that can be seen at the One Theater are also far from classical. A minimum of scenery and makeup, a maximum of human feelings and experiences.

9. Relaxation on the water. When the summer heat descends on the city, all residents rush to bodies of water. The most popular vacation spots near the water in Krasnodar are the banks of the Kuban River and the Krasnodar Reservoir. They are, of course, not suitable for swimming, you can even get a fine for this, but you can have a good time, good fishing and barbecue there.

The banks of the Krasnodar reservoir are practically not equipped for tourism. Here you can stay either at one of the few recreation centers, or relax as a “savage”.

The Kuban River, which flows within the city, is much better suited - the bank is landscaped and conducive to walking. The most picturesque section of the embankment runs through the territory of the park named after the 30th anniversary of the victory and starts from the Bridge of Kisses - an iconic place for all newlyweds and lovers. In the depths of the park there is the Olympus sports complex. Next to it, three outdoor swimming pools were built in 2016, which can be visited completely free of charge. Of course, it is worth considering that there are always enough people who want to swim there. Continuing the theme of swimming pools, it is worth talking about an unusual format for Krasnodar - a swimming pool on the roof of the 16-story Development-South business center, which offers a beautiful view of the city.

*Prices for travel and accommodation are indicated at the time of writing. The cost indicated in the material and the final price may vary depending on the season and time for which the tickets are purchased.
