What to see in Chusovoy in one day
A tour of Chusovoy, as a rule, begins with its main tourist sites. Below are, of course, the most interesting places that have become symbols and pride of the city. You can visit them in 1 day.
Ethnographic complex “Park of the History of the Chusovaya River”
- Address: st. Udarnika, 30.
The Chusovaya River History Park is the main attraction of the city and a “magnet” that attracts tourists here. The ethnographic complex is an open-air museum. It was founded in 1981 at the foot of Arinina Mountain. The initiative to create the complex belonged to the Honored Cultural Worker Leonard Postnikov.
The museum's exposition is dedicated to peasant life in the 19th-20th centuries. It consists of ancient peasant buildings that were transported to the park from the outback of the Chusovsky district. The historical buildings have retained their original appearance.
Among them you can see a blacksmith shop, a pottery shop, a trading shop, a fire tower, a village theater, chapels and several residential buildings. All buildings are made of wood in the style of Russian architecture. They are decorated with traditional carvings, kokoshniks, half-columns and tents.
The interior furnishings have been recreated using authentic household items dating back to the 19th century. The museum operates according to the principles: “we preserve everything we can” and “be sure to touch it with your hands.” All excursionists must hold and touch museum exhibits.
“Park of the History of the Chusovaya River” is a venue for folk festivals, animation and costume evenings, as well as literary events.
Chusovaya River
- Coordinates on the map: 58.287267, 57.819431.
Chusovaya originates in the east of the Ural ridge and, crossing it, reaches the western slopes. Thanks to its picturesque views, the river became a source of inspiration for numerous writers who captured it on the pages of their works.
The main feature and decoration of Chusovaya are the rocks (also known as “stones”) that rise above its flow. Masses of stone appear as sharp cliffs and steep cliffs, windows of mysterious caves are blackened in the walls, and the sloping slopes are covered with luxurious coniferous forests. Brown bears, moose, wolves and lynxes live here, and pike, ide, and bream splash in the waters of the river. Crayfish, muskrats and beavers are also found.
The Chusovaya River is popular among athletes. Local travel companies organize kayaking on extreme sections of the current, as well as excursion tours on rowing and motor boats.
Ski resort "Takman"
- GPS coordinates: 58.353955, 57.773496.
“Takman” is the most popular ski resort in the Chusovsky district, with the best sports infrastructure. The complex is equipped with 16 tracks of different difficulty levels, as well as a cable car with closed cabins and an anchor lift.
Beginners visiting the ski resort can use the services of an instructor.
The services provided in the complex also include:
- rental of sports equipment (skis, snowboards, helmets, snowshoes, etc.);
- comfortable guest houses;
- Russian baths with open-air swimming pools;
- large dining room with panoramic views of the snow-capped mountain slopes;
- children's room;
- tubing rental.
The sports season at the resort starts in November and, thanks to a modern snowmaking system, continues until April, giving visitors the opportunity to enjoy winter activities even in the spring.
Attractions
The undeniable advantage of the area around the city of Chusovoy is that they are located 10-30 km from the regional center. The Chusovsky region is rich in monuments of culture, art and history, and they are all concentrated and inseparable from each other.
Monuments
Memorial sign “Grandmother of Perm Oil”
Route 57K-0011 (between Chusov and Perm), turn to Verkhnechusovskie Gorodki
In 2009, there was a celebration of the discovery of the first oil field on the banks of the Kama River. It was in the Chusovsky district, near the village of Verkhnechusovsky towns, that well number 20 produced the first oil in the Perm region.
Employees of the Perm branch of Lukoil and the district administration installed a stele depicting that very well, and above it an impressive-sized drop of oil.
The project belongs to V. Rakisheva. Since 1929, oil production has increased several times, and now reaches 40 tons/day. The entire region produces about 3% of all Russian oil. And all this thanks to “grandmother”.
Water tower in the village. Kalino
Kalino village
Such buildings made of stone and wood are gradually disappearing from Russia, because they no longer provide any benefit, unlike the last century.
But the Kalinskaya Tower has long become a local landmark. By the way, in the books “Draft” and “Chistovik” by S. Lukyanenko, the guides between worlds lived in precisely such towers. Don't believe me? Check it out!
Monument to Ermak
Address: st. Mira, 17
For the people of Chusov, Ermak is almost a saint. Therefore, probably, the monument to him was erected in the highest place, and the boot of the discoverer of the Trans-Ural lands was polished to a shine. “This is for luck!” the town residents say confidently. Well, maybe they are right?
Temples
Verkhne-Chusovskaya Kazan Trifonova women's hermitage
Krasnaya Gorka village
Miteinaya Mountain, on which the monastery is located, is a “place of power” for the residents: once upon a time, blessed Miteika lived on this mountain, who never stopped praying; Ermak left this Mountain with his faithful squad for Siberia; the patron saint of the Perm lands, Trifon Vyatsky, lived here.
Finally, during the Soviet era, the icon of the Kazan Mother of God, dating from the 19th century, also survived here. Now the unusually bright and lively painting of the walls and ceiling has been restored in the convent, which icon painters and pilgrims come from other regions to see.
Skete of the Trinity-Stefan Monastery
Uspenka village
One of the oldest Ural monasteries, which is also related to Tryphon of Vyatka. They say that when the saint defeated the demon living here, grace descended from heaven to earth, the strongest influence of which is felt in the font and spring, “healing all mental and physical ailments.” In addition, tours take place around the adjacent temple and chapel.
Attention! Before your trip, check the excursion schedule. Check to see if there are places available in the excursion groups you plan to join. This can be done by phone: 8(34256)5-88-16 or 8(34256)6-94-16.
Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village. Kamasino
G. Chusovoy, Kamasino village. Address: st. Sadovaya, 1
The church is famous not so much for its history or shrines, but for its unusual paint color. The fact is that it changes with the seasons and the weather: in winter it is more like the color of the sky - blue or light blue, and in summer it becomes more like greenish-turquoise. But for each person the church shows its own special shade.
Nature
Ethnographic Park of the History of the Chusovoy River
Address: st. Udarnika, 30
The park features authentic buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, which were transported and restored. You can immerse yourself in the life of the peasants who lived along the river, attend master classes in blacksmithing, ceramic painting, or take a guided tour. The complex also includes indoor museums: wooden toys, Ermak and the Museum of Writers' Fates.
Important! You can visit the park at any time, but excursions are available until 3 pm. You need to register for master classes in advance, they are paid. All details by phone: 8 (904)-844-21-73 or 8 (34256) 55-552, as well as on the website: www.etnopark.com
Chusovsky quarry
Address: KamHPP, 39
Bus number 4 leaves from the bus station and passes by the quarry
Incredible views of the surrounding area open from the quarry where stone was previously mined. Bizarre dunes, strange shapes, beams, depressions and hills - it seems that you are in an uninhabited steppe or on another planet. We recommend visiting at least for the beautiful photo.
Suspension bridge over the Chusovaya River
G. Chusovoy, Address: opposite st. Gastello, 38
Even though the bridge is not in the best condition, for residents it still remains a place of romantic meetings and quiet evenings. It connects the main part of the city and the island formed by the river, on which there is a beach for relaxation.
“The bridge is a lovebird,” the Chusovlyans say, and after the wedding they attach locks with their names to it, so that life in the family will be long and happy.
Lake Goluboe
11 km from the town of Chusovaya (towards the village of Skalny), right birch of the Chusovaya River
It is blue only in name or on cold winter days, and its color can vary from whitish to yellowish or green.
Cold (approx. 5-7°C), mysterious, seething, sometimes transparent three meters deep, sometimes impenetrable. A small forest lake, the depth of which reaches 80 meters, attracts locals almost less than tourists.
Lake Maloye Goluboe
Near Blue Lake
A little further along the Bolshaya Glukhaya River is the lesser-known “little brother”. Almost perfectly round, with a diameter of about 5 meters, the lake resembles a portal to another reality. In the middle a spring flows upward - the Malaya Glukhaya River emerging from the ground.
Deaf Ice Cave
Further along the river. Malaya Glukhaya, after Lake Maloye Goluboe
One of the many caves in the area, people go to it mainly in winter. Then bizarre ice stalactites (hanging down) and stalagmites (rising up) are formed in it. All dangerous places in the cave are marked; you can go down there without any preparation.
Blind stones
Located on the right and left banks of the river. Chusovoy, near the Blue Lakes
These rocks run along the shores like stone “waves”, overlapping each other. They unite a network of caves and underground rivers; from them, wherever you look, there are beautiful views of the taiga Ural nature.
They are called Deaf, probably due to the lack of echo. This is a good place for rafting down the river - the regional center is only 10 km away.
Chusovoy: which museums to visit in the city
Chusovaya is famous for its huge number and variety of museums. The exhibitions are dedicated to the history, military exploits and culture of the city. There are also exhibitions here that have no analogues throughout the country.
Ermak Museum
- Coordinates: 58.311141, 57.857846.
The Ermak Museum is located on the territory of the ethnographic complex “Park of the History of the Chusovaya River”. The exhibition occupies a log chapel in the style of Russian architecture, which was built in the 19th century. The dilapidated building has a rectangular base and is crowned with a wooden dome on the western side, and a bell tower tent rises on the eastern side.
The chapel was moved to the park from the village of Makhnutino. It was dismantled into logs and rebuilt in a new location. The historical building was moved in the 1980s, so the cross that crowned the chapel had to be cut down, but otherwise the ancient building retained its original appearance.
In front of the entrance there is a stone massif with an image of Ermak. The museum's exhibits are very diverse. Here you can see:
- models of Nizhne-Chusovsky villages (now defunct), from which Ermak began his campaign;
- copies of weapons from the time of Ermak;
- full-length statue of a Cossack chieftain. Ermak is depicted in military uniform with a cup of wine in his hand;
- paintings illustrating Ermak’s campaign step by step. They were created specifically for the museum by artist Pavel Shardakov using natural materials. Instead of canvas, the painter used wood, and the paints were mixed with egg yolk.
Museum of Local Lore
- Address: st. 50 years of the Komsomol, 10.
Chusovsky Museum of Local Lore is located in one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. This is a three-story building in the classicism style of the 1950s. The monumental building is decorated with massive colonnades on which round verandas and a front portico rest. At the top of the roof there is a sculptural image of the city's coat of arms.
The museum has several permanent exhibitions. The tour begins with a hall dedicated to the history of the Chusovsky district, from primitive times to the present.
Here are presented archaeological artifacts discovered on the banks of the Chusovaya River, where the sites of ancient people were located, as well as ancient documents, photographs and books. Much attention is paid to the history of the development of the metallurgical industry, because it was this industry that became the basis of the city, its bread and blood.
A special asset of the museum is a unique collection of icons of the Stroganov school, as well as a collection of orders and personalized weapons. In addition, among the exhibits there is a treasure trove of coins from the Catherine era and artistic canvases by Ural painters of different generations.
Rear Hospital Museum
- Address: st. Matrosova, 1.
The country's first museum entirely dedicated to the history of rear hospitals of the Great Patriotic War opened in Chusovoy in 2015. The idea of creating an exhibition of this kind belonged to the staff of the city local history museum.
The exhibition is small in scale. It occupies two rooms of the building, where one of the city’s rear hospitals was located during the war. The premises recreate the atmosphere of hospital wards of the 1940s. Steel beds, benches and cabinets are placed along the walls.
The photographs and newspaper clippings donated by the local history museum attract the most attention. The black-and-white photographs show amputees, nurses and doctors, and recovering soldiers photographed exercising and exercising.
In the glass cabinets you can see the surgical instruments with which the operations were performed. Silk ribbons with inscriptions are stretched on the beds - these are quotes from the memoirs of soldiers who were treated in this hospital.
Tourists of the museum note the heavy atmosphere reigning in it. Therefore, it should not be visited by young children and particularly impressionable people.
Literary Museum V.P. Astafieva
- Address: st. Frunze, 38.
In 1945, the future writer Viktor Astafiev returned from the front and settled in Chusovoy. Here he changed several professions, working as a mechanic, teacher, station attendant and storekeeper. In 1951, Victor published his first story, “A Civilian.”
The work was published by the local newspaper Chusovskoy Rabochiy. From that moment on, Astafiev’s literary career began. In subsequent years, he wrote reports, articles and short stories. The book “Until Next Spring” brought him the greatest fame.
In the early 2000s, after Astafiev’s death, his admirer Leonard Postnikov organized a memorial museum dedicated to the life and work of the writer. It occupies two rooms in the house that Astafiev himself built. It was here that he worked on his famous book. The writer’s office contains a collection of manuscripts, personal belongings and a library that Astafiev collected most of his life.
Since 2004, the museum has become a platform for readings of the works of V. P. Astafiev. In addition, the staff developed a tourist route to places associated with the life of the writer.
Interesting Facts
- In the Historical Park there is a memorial sign dedicated to the Soviet writer Viktor Astafiev. His first story, “A Civilian,” was published in the Chusovskoy Rabochiy newspaper.
- But his stories are more familiar from children's anthologies - “The Fish Tsar”, which tells about the greed of a fisherman, “The Horse with a Pink Mane”, about a boy who did not collect a full bowl of strawberries and lied to his grandmother, and “Vasyutkino Lake”, which tells about a boy lost in the taiga. The writer also has an unfinished novel “Cursed and Killed” and several more stories related to front-line themes.
- Chusovskoy Palace of Culture of Metallurgists (now the Cultural and Business Center) is not the only one of its kind. In Riga there is the Palace of Culture, which is the direct “twin brother” of the CDC in Chusovoy.
- Tryphon of Vyatka is now revered as a saint, but during his lifetime he was not one. He settled near the Chusovsky town, on the right bank of the river, at the end of the 16th century. He lived like a hermit. According to legends, he was engaged in healing people and exorcising evil spirits. But, seven years later, because of it, a terrible fire occurred - 3 thousand fathoms (5500 cubic meters) of firewood prepared by the residents burned down. For this, the hermit was pushed off the mountain, and later taken into custody and driven out of the volost.
- The notoriety of the mountain on which the Trinity-Stephan Monastery is based is explained by the fact that there used to be a place of worship of pagan gods here. After the expulsion and assimilation of local tribes, these idols were removed from the mountain.
- Under Lake Goluboe there is a network of grottoes and underwater caves, which are considered the deepest in Russia. The Soviet scientist Sergei Evdokimov first began to explore it in 1979, and in 1981 he reached a record depth for that time - 56 meters (the average depth of the rest of the lake does not exceed 2 meters). The study was complicated not only by weather-dependent water, but also by the fact that the bottom topography was constantly changing. After Evdokimov, neglecting the rules, dived several times to a similar depth, he developed a “divers disease” - decompression sickness, which almost led to the death of the scientist. The next researcher was Vladimir Fedorov. In 2022, he snuck into a cave where no one had been before. He established that the maximum depth of the lake was 88 meters, and the length of the underwater network of grottoes and caves was 600. But even here the lake did not want to just let go of the driver: the suit could not withstand such a load and tore. Miraculously, Fedorov managed to get out.
So the short excursion around one of the cities of Russia has ended. He is as unstoppable as her rivers and as mysterious as her forests. Come to Chusovoy!

Chusovsky pearls of architecture
A special touch to the development of Chusovoy comes from buildings whose age exceeds a hundred years, as well as extraordinary buildings that are impressive in their architecture.
Railway station building
- Address: Privokzalnaya st., 1.
The Chusovskaya station was founded in 1875 at the junction of the Perm - Nizhny Tagil railway line. The creation of the railway station served as an impetus for the further development of the city.
The original railway station building was made of wood in the style of Russian architecture. The one-story building was decorated with carved platbands, tents with spiers and a risalit, which housed the main entrance.
Later the building was rebuilt. The wooden structure was demolished and was replaced by a red brick structure, which has survived to this day.
Suspension bridge over Chusovaya
- Coordinates: 58.282144, 57.801229.
Chusovaya crosses the city, dividing it into two parts. There are several bridges across the river, the most unusual of which is the suspension bridge.
The structure of the structure consists of three pylons, to which a pedestrian part with a boardwalk is attached by means of cables. The length of the bridge is 100 meters, the height above the water level is five meters. When walking, you may feel a slight swaying from side to side.
The suspension bridge is considered one of the most romantic places in the city. This is where lovers and newlyweds say their vows. The tradition of sealing promises with padlocks on the bridge is not accepted, as this can damage the strength of the structure.
The suspension bridge is a favorite route for walking. It offers a stunning view of Chusovaya and the city, and there is a small beach on the shore.
Coat of arms and anthem
The coat of arms almost completely repeats the flag of Chusovoy: it is divided into two equal parts, the upper one is painted red, which symbolizes the metallurgical industry, which determines the city’s economy. In the upper left corner is a silver spur.
The lower part is blue - these are, of course, symbols of the Chusovaya and Kama rivers, thanks to which the entire region developed and grew. Also, rivers and railway and road tracks are symbolized by intertwined white ribbons, along which Ermak’s boat glides, as if on waves. The color of the ship and the stone crown on the coat of arms are gold.
The anthem is considered to be “Chusovskaya Waltz”, written by Leonid Gribel, an honorary resident and poet. This is a very gentle and musical anthem, not at all sweeping or serious. Key words: “Chusovoy, Chusovoy is a city in the center of Russia” - are repeated throughout the song.
Temples and churches of the city of Chusovoy
Temples and churches, which are also visited by tourists, play a significant role in the architectural appearance and life of the city.
Spaso-Preobrazhensky Church
- Address: New City microdistrict.
The main temple of the city was built in the late 1990s - early 2000s. The architectural ensemble-town is made of logs in the style of Russian architecture. The temple has two massifs, united by a cascading roof, on the ridge of which there is a small drum with a gilded crown.
Adjacent to the building is a hipped belfry on a cubic base. Opposite the temple there is a Sunday school building, decorated with kokoshniks, patterned platbands and a polygonal dome on a quadrangle. The area is surrounded by a brick fence with support pillars and an arched entrance.
In addition to liturgical ceremonies, the Transfiguration Church holds classes on the moral education of the younger generation. There is also an extensive library at the temple, which parishioners use in the public domain.
Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary
- Address: Sadovaya st., 1.
The ancient temple is located on the outskirts of the village of Kamasino, not far from Chusovoy. The church was built from soaked larch boards in 1775. The architecture is simple - a refectory adjoins the quadrangle topped with a dome. A two-tier bell tower rises nearby.
The historical building has reached modern times in its original form. It has never been reconstructed or restored. On one of the end walls of the church there is a memorial plaque indicating that this building is an architectural monument and historical heritage of the village.
Park of Culture and Recreation
The park was founded in 1966. Over the course of its 50-year history, many public events have taken place on its territory, many of which have become traditional, for example: festivities dedicated to May Day, City Day and Children's Day. For these purposes, a city concert venue was built in the park. Also on the territory of the park there is a vast forest, a large reservoir, a soda farm, various attractions and summer cafes.

Monument to Ermak

The historical square occupies the territory where the railway school, the first educational organization of the city, was previously located. Since 1998, an open-air sculpture museum has been operating on this piece of land, telling the story of the history of the city.
The most interesting exhibit of this museum is a memorial sign dedicated to the memory of now defunct villages. The composition is a stone wall divided into two parts by a through hole in the shape of an Orthodox cross.
On the left side of the monument are engraved the names of settlements that were located along the coast of the Chusovaya River and completely disappeared at the beginning of the last century. There are 180 villages in total. The right side of the monument is occupied by a bas-relief of a Cossack, saddened by the loss of his native village.
Another interesting exhibit is a chapel made of steel tubes. This is an abstract but recognizable structure with a dome and a cross. Also in the vicinity of the Historical Square there is a monument to the writer V.P. Astafiev.
Monument to metallurgists (steelworkers)
- Address: Trudovaya street.
From the moment of its foundation to the present day, the metallurgical plant has served the development of the city. A monument in honor of its workers was erected on the factory square. The composition consists of three sculptures depicting steelworkers.

City `s history
The history of this place began in ancient times, when the lands were inhabited by the ancestors of the Mansi people, who were engaged in trade and economic activities. If the last type of activity was quite standard - hunting, farming, fishing, handicrafts, then trade is of interest. To sell their own goods, and maybe to buy others, the Mansi ancestors did not choose the near world at all - judging by the jewelry and coins found during excavations, the local residents had trade relations with the Persians . To understand how distant this light is, Iran , former Persia , is located more than four thousand kilometers from Chusovoy .

In the middle of the 16th century, the indigenous people of the Chusovsky land were pushed beyond the Urals by the Russians, who decided to develop new spaces. In 1558, Tsar Ivan the Terrible Grigory Anikeevich Stroganov land along the banks of the Kama to the Chusovaya River for use , and 10 years later the lands along the Chusovaya River were also granted to Grigory ’s Yakov . At the same time, the first Russian settlement was founded the Chusovaya Chusovskoy town , later renamed Nizhny Chusovskaya town . To protect its open spaces from attacks by local tribes and Siberian Tatars, the town was turned into a fortress with high wooden walls and a moat.

After the death of the merchants, their possessions were inherited - by their brother Semyon and Yakov's son Maxim . Over time, the heirs expanded the patrimony, founding the Upper Chusovoy town . The Nizhny town also expanded - two villages were annexed to it: Nikolskoye , known today as Verkhniye Mully , and Kamasino , which became the first settlement on the land of the modern city of Chusovoy .

Chusovoy itself was founded in 1878, after the construction of a station of the same name on the Ural Mining Railway , stretched from Perm . If the beginning of the history of the city is associated with the Stroganov family the Golitsyn family also became involved in the development of the city . In 1879, Prince Sergei Golitsyn , together with the French entrepreneur Charles Barrouin , decided to build a metallurgical plant in the newly created town of Chusovsky , which is now the city-forming enterprise of the single-industry town. Its construction was completed in 1882, and two years later the first blast furnace began operating. According to the Ural tradition, the beginning of the modern city was laid by a settlement for factory workers and their families.

Over time, the settlement grew and developed, the infrastructure necessary for life appeared - a pharmacy, a bathhouse, a clinic, a laundry, a cinema, a central grocery store, and in 1933 Chusovoy became a city. Large-scale construction of residential buildings began. Soon there was no free area left for development - it was limited by the proximity of hazardous industries and railway tracks. Then a decision was made to expand the city boundaries - so the city of Chusovoy spread out on the left bank of the Chusovoy River .
Today Chusovoy is a small metallurgical town, famous for its athletes, amazing nature and a wonderful open-air museum.
