Story
The age of the city of Anapa is more than 2500 years. Previously, the city of Sindika, and later Gorgippia, was located on the territory of Anapa. In the 14th century, the Genoese lived on this site and built a strong fortification here under the name Mapa. Part of the Anapa fortress was destroyed by Tamerlane in 1395, and in 1475, during the reign of Mehmed II, the Ottoman commander Keduk Ahmed Pasha captured the Anapa castle and founded a Turkish garrison in it.
In 1782, a fortress was built, which was captured several times by Russian troops during the Russian-Turkish wars. Anapa, along with the rest of the coast, was finally annexed to Russia by the Treaty of Adrianople in 1829, and in 1846 the Anapa fortress received city status. During the Crimean War, the fortress was destroyed in May 1854.
By the beginning of the 20th century, the city began to develop rapidly and was already a famous resort and port. By 1940, 14 sanatoriums and more than 10 pioneer camps were built in Anapa. During the Great Patriotic War, the resort suffered greatly and was destroyed, but was completely restored in the 50s of the 20th century.
Anapa lighthouse
The first lighthouse began to be built on the Anapa Cape back in 1898, and ten years later it began to work. During the Great Patriotic War, the city was captured by the Nazis, and the building was destroyed. However, in 1955, restoration work began, thanks to which the main attraction of Anapa still stands on the seashore.
The lighthouse is located on a rocky cape and is a black and white tower, its height is 21 meters. It shines a red light on ships with a range of up to 18.5 miles. There is an observation deck for tourists inside the premises. There is a rocky beach right below the lighthouse.
Sources of Semigorye
The fabulous name Semigorye is a place not far from the Natukhaevskaya station. The colorful range of hills is a distinctive feature of the local picturesque landscape. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Doctor Vladimir Budzinsky founded a medical sanatorium here. According to one version, it was in his honor that the source of healing Semigorsk water was named the spring of St. Vladimir.
To this day, only a well from that time remains on the site of the sanatorium. Its water is carbonated with methane. This is an explosive volatile gas, which is taken into account during bottling: it is replaced with carbon dioxide.
Not far from the famous spring you can walk through a grove of ancient oak trees. The age of the oldest and most majestic of them, according to various sources, is 600-800 years.
Central embankment
The Anapa embankment was reconstructed in 2002; now it is a resort complex, paved with granite and stretching 5 km in length. The paths are paved with paving stones, the alleys are decorated with fountains, lanterns, flower arrangements, Mediterranean palm trees and landscape sculptures.
The upper tier offers views of the city port and the Black Sea; you can go to the city’s Central Beach and the famous water stadium. Behind the embankment railings there are museums, attractions, hotels, cafes and souvenir shops.
Unusual and interesting places for a photo shoot
The resort annually welcomes 3-4 million vacationers in the region, who come here not only to relax on the Black Sea coast, but also to have an educational and interesting time.

The embankment is one of the most beautiful places in Anapa
The embankment consists of 2 tiers:
- The first floor houses cafes and restaurants. The entire area is covered with tiles, where sunbathing tourists are located. The embankment is separated from the sea by huge boulders that protect it from the oncoming waves.
- The second tier is given over to architectural objects. Here you can see a flower arrangement in the shape of an octopus, the Scarlet Sails ship and many other attractions. It is in this area that it is most convenient for tourists to conduct photo sessions.
A walk along the promenade leads to the central beach, and not far from it there are attractions and museums. There are a huge number of souvenir shops lined up nearby, where you can buy a gift for every taste.
Lighthouse
This architectural structure is located on Cape Anapa. The lighthouse was created in May 1898. During the hostilities of World War II, it was destroyed and restored in 1955. The lighthouse occupies an advantageous position at the foot of the mountains on a high bank.
Here you can not only conduct photo sessions, but also photograph the picturesque surrounding landscape. From here the spurs of the Caucasus are clearly visible, and in the distance lies the Utrish Peninsula.
The landscape looks so beautiful that it appears on many tourist postcards. Here you can constantly observe working artists who embody mountains and the Black Sea on their canvases. Moreover, all the painted paintings are shrouded in haze.
Singing Fountains
The complex includes 5 musical fountains, which are located near the city administration. They stretch for 90 m, and the total territory they occupy is 2 km2. The largest fountain has a diameter of 23 m. All the others are smaller. Their diameter reaches 6 m.
During the operation of the fountains, numerous spectators are attracted by the beautiful play of light. At the climax, the jets of water rise 15 m. There is no better place for a photo shoot in Anapa.
During the operation of the fountains, musical and light synchronization is observed. This is accompanied by the release of water from special nozzles. At each moment of time, its own individual improvisation is formed. This causes special delight among the audience.
Monument ship Scarlet Sails
The resort's designers created a two-meter frigate with scarlet sails. Moreover, its height is 5 m. When the wind blows, the scarlet canvas develops like on a real ship. In the evening, the ship is illuminated.
This exhibit contains all the paraphernalia of the ship. The captain's bridge is installed here and there is a steering wheel. There are real ropes on the ship. It seems that the ship is floating on the waves. This impression is created by the nearby flower bed.
Every tourist arriving here cannot ignore such an object, which has become a symbol of the city, and leaves many pictures as a souvenir.
Park named after the 30th anniversary of the Victory

Monument to Budzinsky
Address: Anapa, st. Pushkina, 30.
The monument to the founder of the Anapa resort, doctor and public figure Vladimir Adolfovich Budzinsky was erected in 1998 at the entrance to the Kuban sanatorium, next to the Central Embankment. Authors: sculptor V.P. Polyakov. and architect Rysin Yu.V.
Budzinsky, at his own expense, built the first water and mud bath in the city, which opened on July 21, 1900. In 1909, he opened the Bimlyuk sanatorium with the Orthopedic Institute, and in 1913 the hydropathic clinic and the Luchezarnaya sanatorium. In 1915, Emperor Nicholas II awarded Budzinsky the title of “Honorary Citizen of Anapa.” V.A. Budzinsky tirelessly argued that Anapa is an ideal place for a resort. On the scroll held by the granite Budzinski is the inscription:
“Anapa’s medicinal remedies, in addition to its wonderful climate, include: sea bathing, mud from the local salt lake and mud volcanoes, sandy shores, mountain climbing, medicinal grapes, goat’s milk, kefir.”
Square Memory Alley on the embankment
The square is located 200 m from the Anapa Marine Station and 1 on the street. Embankment. It is surrounded by streets. Pushkina, st. Chernomorskaya, Tiraspolsky per. and ave. Revolutions.
Unlike the 30 Let Pobedy Park, Memory Alley, a small square near the embankment, is conducive to relaxation and solitude. This place is dedicated to the memory of soldiers who died in several wars that befell our country, victims of Stalinist repressions and the Chernobyl tragedy.
The square is crossed by alleys, lengthwise and diagonally, in accordance with a clear geometric pattern. The names of distinguished residents of the city are immortalized on granite steles along the main alley.
Archaeological Museum "Gorgippia"
Website: museumanapa.ru Address: Anapa, st. Embankment, building 4. Opening hours: from 10.00 to 18.00, on Friday until 17.00, closed on Monday.
More than 2.5 thousand years ago, on the site of Anapa there was the ancient fortress city of Gorgippia, a stronghold of the Bosporan kingdom. For a long time nothing was known about it; archaeological excavations began here only in 1829, and scientific research only in 1954. However, the number and value of the finds were so great that in the late 70s of the 20th century an archaeological museum appeared in Anapa.
There are two exhibition areas: one is under the roof of the building, the other is in the open air. The halls are made of light stone, inside there are decorative columns, portals and pediments. The stretch ceiling of the museum imitates the starry sky. On the territory of this Anapa landmark there are several thousand artifacts: sculptures, women's jewelry and coins, funeral masks, amphorae and household items.

Cruiser Kutuzov
The cruiser "Mikhail Kutuzov", which now houses the naval ship museum, is moored at the central embankment of Novorossiysk, next to the Seaport building. A huge warship has been turned into one of the city's most important attractions. A tour of the museum with a guide gives you the opportunity to learn interesting facts about the structure of the ship and the life of sailors. If you don’t want to take a tour, you can just walk along the deck, look at part of the ship’s interior and exhibits, and take pictures for memory. True, the interior looks very brutal; a cosmetic renovation would not do any harm to the museum. On the other hand, this type of cruiser also has some flavor. In general, the museum's exhibition is not very rich. Among the exhibits are models of warships behind tarnished glass, the sparse furnishings of the sailors' cabins and other rooms of the ship. I'll write a post about my visit to the cruiser soon. Read more about the Cruiser Kutuzov.
Ticket price : 200 rubles for adults and 100 rubles for children.

Museum of Technology in Temryuk “Military Hill”
The open-air museum is located at the entrance to Temryuk, on a hill that was once a mud volcano. That’s why people call the museum “Military Hill”. To this day, on the territory of the museum, as a bonus to the exhibition of military equipment, you can see a small mud geyser. The museum contains equipment from the Second World War and post-war: tanks, guns, airplanes, ships, mines and much more. There is even a steam locomotive with a carriage. Almost all branches of the military are represented by more than a hundred exhibits. On the territory of the museum there is also a monument to the liberation of Temryuk from the German invaders in the form of a T-34 tank on a pedestal. There are no guides in this museum, nor are there any fences - you can touch everything with your hands. Children will especially like it here. You can also take interesting pictures with equipment in the museum. The condition of the equipment is not for everyone, everything possible has been painted over.
Ticket price : 50 rubles.
Champagne wine factory in Abrau-Durso
The plant is located near Novorossiysk, on the shores of the picturesque Lake Abrau, in a picturesque area surrounded by hills. A tour of the factory can be ordered with or without tasting (about 5 wines). It is cool and damp in the factory cellars, so it is better to take some extra outerwear, a windbreaker or a jacket. The guides talk about the history of the plant and the technology of producing champagne wines, the secrets of their production. About how to choose and consume sparkling drinks correctly. At the end of the tour, you can go to the souvenir shop and choose a small bottle of the wine you liked during the tasting or some other souvenir. Prices in the plant's souvenir shop are moderate, about the same as in regular stores. After the excursion, you can walk along the picturesque shore of the lake, enjoy nature, and go boating. There is a playroom for children on the territory of the plant.
Ticket price : 650 rubles with tasting, 350 rubles without tasting, children under 10 years old - free.
Lotus Valley
The Lotus Valley is located near the village of Golubitskaya and the Akhtanizovsky Estuary, not very far from Taman and Anapa. Lotuses appeared in these places in the 1980s. They do not take root in salt water, so they only successfully took root in a desalinated reservoir. Lotuses actively bloom from mid-July to August, stems and leaves protrude from the water, and do not float on its surface, as is usually the case in Asia, their homeland. To get to the Lotus Valley by car, you need to drive along the Temryuk-Strelka highway to the Kazachiy Erik River, and then follow the signs for “Lotuses”. You can also buy an excursion to the valley at almost any travel agency. It is better to come to the lotuses at dawn, when they are just beginning to open, and in July-August, when they bloom. Although they say that they are already starting in June too. Since the shore around the lotuses is swampy, tourists are usually taken to the flowers by boat along a canal that was dug by the Cossacks 200 years ago. The excursion to the lotuses is interesting and romantic, and a boat ride adds to the experience of admiring the exotic flowers.
Mud volcanoes in Taman
There are many active mud volcanoes on the Taman Peninsula. This is one of the main natural attractions of the Krasnodar region. Mud volcanoes in Taman have been known since ancient times; Homer wrote about them in his Odyssey, placing in this area the entrance to the underground kingdom, Hades. The mud erupted by geysers is highly valued because it has a healing effect. It is used to prevent and treat many diseases. Among the largest and most famous volcanoes of Taman, which are visited annually by thousands of tourists from all over the country, are Tizdar, Plevak, Karabetova Sopka (I was here because there are no people there) and others. There are about 26 of them in total. The mud temperature in most volcanoes is 20-25 C, but in some it is lower. The volcanoes of the Taman Peninsula act periodically, periods of rest are replaced by activity. Some have already cooled down and turned into hills, others are still throwing out mud, which consists mainly of blue clay, mineral water and contains bromine, iodine and a little oil. Some volcanoes, like Tizdar, are well-equipped tourist complexes with all the necessary infrastructure, others retain their pristine, wild appearance.

Afterword
The sights of Anapa are compactly located, so it’s quite possible to get around them in one day. Although, of course, it is better to stay in this cozy city for a week and slowly try out all the local beauties.
After all, it’s nice to just walk along the quiet streets, parks and squares, admire the houses and breathe in a healing cocktail of sea and pine needles - calmly and meditatively, without a specific goal.

Dolphinarium "Nemo"
Website: nemoanapa.ru Address: Anapa, Pionersky Avenue 20A.
The Nemo entertainment complex allows visitors to swim and take photographs with dolphins, undergo dolphin therapy, and watch performances with marine animals: dolphins, northern fur seals, white polar whales, Chilean sea lions and walruses.
Next to the dolphinarium there is also the Nemo Oceanarium, which houses a wide variety of freshwater and marine fish species. These include piranhas and reef sharks. Nearby is a tunnel terrarium with reptiles and iguanas, as well as a small zoo containing a crocodile, turtles, squirrels, raccoons, meerkats, rabbits and porcupines.
Oceanarium "Reef"
In 2015, an oceanarium opened in Anapa, whose aquariums represent the coral-algae ecosystems of the Great Barrier Reef in the Pacific Ocean and the Red Sea. All aquariums have relatively small volumes, thanks to which predatory species live separately from “herbivores”, and the topography of the seabed is also imitated.
The Reef is home to rare species of sharks, exotic fish, stingrays, shellfish, piranhas, octopuses, starfish and urchins. The accompanying signs near each aquarium contain detailed information about each of the waterfowl: where they live, how they develop, how long they live and what they eat.
On the excursion, visitors can listen to the life of coral reefs, watch the feeding of piranhas, moray eels and sharks, take pictures with a starfish in the palms of their hands, and also feed the fish in the pond themselves. Here you can also buy souvenirs depicting corals and aquarium inhabitants.
Bathyscaphe Marine Aquarium
Website: batiskafanapa.ru Address: Anapa, st. Protapova, 1.
The unique modular aquarium was built in 1996 according to the design of A. Ioanidi; initially its volume was 4000 liters, but later it was increased by the author to 24 thousand. A walk through a glass tunnel with swimming fish imitates a walk along the bottom of the sea.
In one of the sections you can see inhabitants of freshwater bodies of water: carp, sturgeon, catfish, crayfish, perch, pike. In the other - the inhabitants of the Black Sea: stingrays, flounder, ruffes, greenfinches, sea roosters and many others. Each tank of this Anapa attraction has special lighting so that all waterfowl can be seen. There are low-mounted windows for children. Near the modules hang photographs of sea inhabitants and signs with their descriptions.
In the ground-based exhibition you can look at shells, dried crabs and starfish, and stuffed fish. On the second floor there is a terrarium in which snakes, monitor lizards, and chameleons live.
Singing Fountains
Musical fountains are located in the city center, near the Anapa Administration Square. They are a composition of a large fountain with a diameter of 23 meters and four small ones - 6 meters each. During the daytime they operate as usual, and at dusk the music is turned on.
The musical list consists of 10 tunes: from the group “ABBA” to the composer Bach. For illumination, 320 lamps and 300 nozzles are used here. Fountains shoot up to 15 meters in height, so sometimes they are called not only singing, but also “dancing”.
Sights of Anapa that you can see in one day
This route will be useful to you if you are in Anapa for just a day, or if you want to see as many interesting architectural objects and exhibitions as possible in a day, and enjoy the southern beauty of the resort town.
Lighthouse
The northwestern part is not like the rest of the metropolis: it is calm, cozy - as if created for leisurely walks along the picturesque embankment. First of all, you need to visit the romantic Anapa lighthouse, rising lonely above the dense greenery of the shore. It is a landmark not only for locals and tourists, but also for ships, since it is still in operation.
At the foot of the lighthouse there is an observation deck overlooking the local beach, where you can spend a secluded and quiet evening by the sea.
The lighthouse is one of the symbols of Anapa - the black and white monument towering above the coastline is very popular among guests of the resort town. It is with his image that many postcards and magnets are sold.
Pump room
The next step along the route will be a mineral water pump room, which every health resort should have. Anapa was not deprived of it, and thousands of people come here every day to not only visit the beaches, but also undergo healing procedures with natural mineral waters from the Anapa, Semigorsk, and Malutrish wells.
In total, there are 6 mineral water sources on the territory of the pump room. The tasting will not cost an exorbitant amount of money - from just 10 rubles you can try a glass of refreshing water rich in microelements.
Brookwin Restaurant
If visiting the sights and entertainment of Anapa is already tired, you can stop for lunch at one of the best and most popular establishments in the city - a restaurant on the city embankment.
Here you can find not only traditional Mediterranean and fish cuisine, but also Italian and European cuisine. Good wine, juicy vegetables, pasta, fresh seafood, coupled with European-style service will relax you on a hot day in an authentic interior. The restaurant also serves a vegetarian menu and delivers food to your home.
Lunch at Brookwin will cost an average of 1,500 rubles per person.
Museum "Gorgippia"
After a good snack, you can explore the ancient ruins and feel like a real adventurer - in an archaeological museum. The historical reserve constantly hosts festivals, exhibitions for visitors, as well as unique temporary exhibitions.
The territory of the museum is filled with ancient Greek exhibits, paintings, as well as remains of crafts and architecture. For history buffs and tourists who want to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of ancient Anapa, this place is a must-visit.
"Russian Gate"
The next step in the day's route will be another example of the heritage of the past - a cultural monument of the Ottoman military. Unfortunately, the fortress they built has not survived to this day, but one of the three gates still adorns the historical center of Anapa.
In the 18th century, the object served a practical purpose - the protection and strengthening of territories. And even though now it has turned into only an exhibit, the historical building still looks majestic and grandiose.
Yummy Oysters Oyster Bar
After enjoying the beauty of the historical corners of the resort, you can taste real and fresh seafood. Yummy Oysters is a huge success among people and tourists - they serve oysters and nothing but oysters.
The establishment employs real professionals who can advise and offer a good choice not only to the average person, but also to gourmet connoisseurs.
At prices per person, a set of several types of oysters will cost approximately 1000-1500 rubles.
Crocodile farm
Continuing your walk, you need to stop by the famous crocodile farm. Yes, yes, the zooterrarium is located almost in the city center - you don’t need to go anywhere for this. Entrance tickets can be purchased from 600 rubles.
In addition to real green lizards, nimble hooligan raccoons live in the enclosures. You can pet them and take a photo as a souvenir. There are also predatory turtles here.
A farm with a variety of small animals is perfect for a family holiday, where both adults and children can observe their habits and the behavior of predators.
Central Beach
The sunset after a busy day can be seen right on the embankment - on the Central Beach. This place is especially popular among tourists and locals due to the close location of the seaport.
There are much fewer sandy beaches on the territory of the resort town than pebble ones, and that’s why Central attracts people so much for relaxing and swimming.
Clean and warm water with a gentle slope will allow you to visit the beach with your children - they will be safe in the open. The beach is well equipped and has modern infrastructure: changing rooms and showers, designated toilets, as well as sun loungers and chairs for rent.
Central fountain
The final point on a one-day walk around the resort of Anapa will be a truly unusual and special musical exhibit - the Central Fountain, located in the historical center of the city.
Bright lighting for strolling tourists and the magnificent play of musical water jets at the end of a busy evening will impress both adults and children. You can pass the time and relax while enjoying the music and the riot of colors nearby on the alley with benches, which turns into a park complex.
It makes sense to visit this point only in the warm season - in winter the fountain is turned off.
Bugaz Spit
The spit in the vicinity of Anapa, stretching for 12 kilometers along the Bugaz estuary from Anapa to the village of Veselovka, attracts many surfers and kiters.
This place is characterized by fine sand on the coast, safe shallow waters, clean water and properly blowing winds. Therefore, there are about 10 kite schools, 2 windsurfing schools and the Jamaica dive club on the shore.

Observation deck "Soaring Eagle"
The Soaring Eagle monument was erected in 2013 in the village of Supsekh, at the beginning of the Caucasus Mountains, stretching from Anapa to the Caspian Sea with a length of 1,100 km. Here you have views of the endless steppes, the sea, the mountains and the city itself. The “Soaring Eagle” has become a symbol of Anapa and has gained popularity among tourists. The authors are sculptor Vasily Polyakov and architect Yuri Rysin.
Geography and climate
The city of Anapa is located in the southwestern part of the Krasnodar Territory on the Black Sea coast, 170 km from Krasnodar, 360 km from Sochi and 1691 km from Moscow. The location of the city is unusual in that it is located at the junction of the foothills of the Caucasus and the steppes of the Taman Peninsula. Caucasian forests and foothills give way to endless flowering valleys and fields, and they, in turn, alternate with sea estuaries.
Anapka River
The climate here is Mediterranean, with dry summers and cool winters with prolonged rainfall. Severe frosts occur very rarely. Due to the fact that the mountains in this area are less high, the air in Anapa is drier and more healthy.
Bald Mountain (Swallow's Nests)
At a distance of 9 km from Anapa in the village of Supsekh there is Lysaya Gora, a hill with a height of 319 meters. During the Soviet years, a closed military unit was located here; to this day you can see military equipment, barbed wire and signs indicating the restricted zone.
Many years ago, the Serebryannaya River flowed in these places, flowing into the Malaya Bay. From it the inhabitants of the ancient city of Gorgippia, which existed 2.5 thousand years ago, took water. However, in the 19th century, the riverbed was filled in as the river’s springs dried up. And in 1903, excavations were carried out in these places, and archaeologists discovered a limestone tomb containing the ashes of the person buried in a stone box.
On the territory of the Anapa attraction there is an observation deck of Swallow's Nests, where tourists love to take pictures. The rocky ledge on which the site is located is favored by swallows; there are many of their nests here, hence the name. Nearby is the grave of Boris Yamushev, the first Anapa paraglider. A giant metal staircase of 800 steps leads to the sea.
