Sudak is one of the main resorts in Crimea. Holidays in Sudak attract with an abundance of beautiful places and unique nature - the surrounding mountains, coastal cliffs, a well-groomed embankment, sandy and pebble beaches for every taste.
Central beach of Sudak
The main resting place for city guests. This is where all vacationers flock. From the coastline there is a magnificent panorama of Cape Alchak in the east and the fortress rock and fortress in the west, and a little further you can see the steep cliffs of Sokol and Cape Kapchik - the calling cards of the New World.
You can get to the beach from Cypress Alley. It stretches from the Brigantina cafe to the Priboy complex.
Surface: sand and small pebbles.
The entrance to the sea on the central beach of Sudak is convenient, the depth increases gradually. The beach is great for families with children in 2022.
Infrastructure: changing rooms, sun loungers, paths, umbrellas. There is a shower and toilet nearby. Rescuers are working. There are many entertainments and attractions - boats, catamarans. In the evenings in the summer there is a lounge area - a great place to relax in Sudak in the summer of 2022!
How to get there?
There are several ways to get to Sudak:
- By plane. There is an airport only in Simferopol (air tickets to Simferopol on Aviasales). Next, you can get to Sudak by any convenient transport, reaching the Kurortnaya stop (this is near the railway station): By bus. There are a lot of flights during the season, but in the quiet season you have to wait about 8 hours.
- Route taxi. No. 98 and No. 115 are suitable.
- By trolleybus. You need route number 9.
- Taxi. Travel time is approximately 1.5 hours. The cost of the trip starts from 2,500 rubles. Taxis can be booked in advance through the Kiwitaxi service, very convenient with large luggage or a tired child after a long flight.
Romance lovers can get to the peninsula by ferry to Kerch, and then choose a convenient option for further travel.
Beaches of Cape Meganom
Let's move a little outside the city - to Meganom. This cape on the map of Crimea is located slightly east of Sudak - the drive there is about 10 km. The main beach of Cape Meganom - " Rybachy " in these places is located at the western foot of the cape. The beach offers a picturesque view of Meganom, a panorama of the coast and seaside peaks and rocks from Cape Alchak to Ayu-Dag. Rybachy Beach is a vast strip of sand up to 20 meters wide. There are many places for a tent and space to sunbathe on the sea; in the summer there are several cafes on the beach - that’s all the infrastructure.
Another equipped beach in these parts is Sunny Beach .
To visit Sunny Beach, it’s worth going to snorkel or take a break from the noise and crowds on the city’s central beach.
The beach is very limited in its suitability for families with children at sea - the lack of vegetation and shade is a hindrance. During peak season, it is very hot here and you can easily get burned. But this is typical for the entire Meganom coastline.
How to plan a trip cheaper?
With the help of practical tips, you can arrange a vacation at sea or a trip to the sights much more profitable:
- ROOMGURU will help you stay in any city on a budget . The search engine compares prices across all housing databases and displays the result. It is very convenient to use the HOUSING SEARCH via a smartphone. It is especially helpful upon arrival, when you need to immediately book an apartment or hotel.
- Before each trip, you must purchase an insurance policy; we recommend TRIPINSURANCE , the service works only with the best insurance companies that you can trust.
- Where to buy cheap air tickets? We definitely use the AVIASALES , it looks for the most profitable options from all airlines.
Mojito Beach
One of the best beaches in Sudak and the whole Crimea. Located at the foot of the Fortress Mountain.
The beach is quite young; just 8 years ago there was no infrastructure in its place. So you can see firsthand how the infrastructure in Crimea is improving. Mojito Beach is located on the very outskirts of the Sudak embankment.
On Mojito Beach in Sudak, sand is poured, and underneath there is a concrete covering, which has replaced the stones that previously decorated this place. This is the price of the splendor and pleasure that all vacationers here receive! This was done to prevent storms from washing away the sandy base.
The entrance to the water is from a concrete surface and is not very convenient for those who choose to holiday in Sudak with children.
Infrastructure: sun loungers, individual canopies. Separate VIP area. There are many attractions, the diving area is almost at the foot of the Fortress Mountain.
You can rent accommodation right next to the beach:
- Soldaya Grand Hotel 4*;
- Hotel Bulgakov;
- Guest house "Vernisage".
By the way, many hotels have not only a swimming pool on site, but also a private beach.

Historical information
Modern archaeologists have determined that Sudak was founded at the beginning of the 3rd century AD. The Sughds lived in it - tribes related in language to the modern Adyghe people.
In the 6th century, the Byzantines built a fortress, the foundation of which was used by the Genoese to build their powerful fortification.
The city grew together with neighboring Kafa (Feodosia), and was also a large shopping center. Both cities achieved their highest development under the Genoese, who bought the territory of the Southern Bank from the Crimean Tatars for the establishment of ports and trade. Sudak was considered as a city to protect its local capital - Kafa, so in 1371 a powerful fortress was founded. Either there was always not enough money, or there was no danger, but this fortress was built 98 years until 1469. Ironically, in 1475 the Ottomans invaded Crimea. Kafa fell first after a siege. When the Turks approached Sudak, a week later the local garrison threw out the white flag, negotiated honorable conditions for themselves and surrendered to the mercy of the victors.
A new stage in the life of the city began already in the Russian Empire. The local climate was suitable for viticulture. And half a century later, in 1878, Prince Lev Golitsyn built a factory next door to produce champagne wines.
The fashion for resort life came to Sudak later - with a visit to the plant of Emperor Nicholas II.
In Soviet times, as a result of research, it was established that the area is suitable for the treatment of pulmonary diseases (but not tuberculosis).
Zhara Beach
Located between the Riviera cafe and the Bistro dining room. This is a large sandy beach with many advantages. Changing rooms every 30 meters. There is a massage room. Rescuers are working.
It also offers an excellent view of Cape Alchak.
You can choose bright water activities - hydro scooters, catamarans and others.
There is a canteen on the beach.
Average prices
Although Sudak is a popular place, local prices have not yet reached the clouds. This applies not only to rental housing, but also to services and products.
Of course, Sudak cannot be called a cheap resort. However, staying here will cost less than on the South Coast, and the conditions will generally be no worse. There are various types of promotions here that can help you save money. And it is not necessary to eat in “advanced” central restaurants - in a small cafe they can feed you just as well.
And one more thing: there are many branches of various Crimean banks in Sudak, and all of them work with cards of Russian giants without commissions (this is evidenced by numerous reviews).
Kolkhoz Beach
Kolkhozny Beach is located near the Sudak water park. It has sun loungers, signature thatched canopies, and changing rooms. The main covering of Kolkhozny beach is sand. There are small inclusions of pebbles.
Covering: sand (quartz) and small pebbles.
Infrastructure: changing rooms, toilets, sun loungers. Doctors and rescuers are working. There is a rental of boats and catamarans, a cafe and the sale of drinks and ice cream.
Wind without waves
Sometimes tourists, having read about the constant Sudak winds, are afraid of regular strong waves at sea. But these fears are unfounded - although the water of Sudak Bay cannot be called calm, like a mirror, strong waves are rare here.
The fact is that the height of the wave depends not only on the strength, but also on the direction of the wind. And the Sudak wind rose is such that the bay is largely protected from the influence of air currents. Therefore, the usual state of the water here is light waves, which will not harm even babies.
Beaches TOK Horizon
Entry is by pass only. But the territory has been cleaned up and therefore it is worth choosing a vacation for Sudak in TOK Horizon in 2022!)
The beach is sandy. There is a lot of free space. Sun loungers are installed, there are paths to the sea. The entrance to the sea is convenient. There are buoy barriers in the water.
There is a terrace above the beach, partially equipped with a canopy, for those who do not want to get burned.
By the way, if you are afraid of getting burned, then read my article about what to take to the beach!
Geographical location
The city of Sudak occupies the middle part of the southeastern zone of the Crimean Peninsula. If we consider nearby large settlements, then the cities of Alushta and Feodosia are located nearby, within a radius of 42 - 47 kilometers. Sudak is located in the valley of the river of the same name. The northern part is covered by mountains, oak and beech forests, and fir forest belts. On the eastern side lies the Kapsel valley. On the west there are Mediterranean expanses.

Beaches of Kapsel Bay
In Kapsel Bay, between capes Alchak and Meganom, there are several small and cozy beaches covered with small pebbles and sand:
- Miami;
- Teddy bear;
- South coast;
- Lagoon.
There are usually seasonal cafes nearby. There are awnings installed in some places, and in the Laguna there are dive centers, kayak rentals and SUP surfing. In one place near the water there are outcrops of medicinal blue clay!
sunny city
Sudak is officially the sunniest of the Crimean resorts. Although the title of “southern pole of Crimea” is inferior to Alushta, and palm trees do not grow here, the number of clear days consistently exceeds 300 per year. It is clear that the lion's share of them occurs in the summer.
They say that hotels in Acapulco pay compensation to tourists if they get caught in the rain during their vacation. At the height of the season, Sudak can also introduce such a norm - and local hoteliers will not go bankrupt. And vacationers will be provided with an excellent tan.
Wild beaches of Sudak
To get away from people, you should go out of town. To get to wild beaches, you should go either to Cape Meganom or head towards the New World.
The only wild beach within Sudak is located behind the fortress towards the New World. There is a cool view from here, and there are very few people here, since no one knows it!
The beach is rocky and there are boulders.
There is a cafe nearby. Entry into the sea on the wild beaches of Sudak (and, it must be said, the entire southern Crimea) is not very convenient, but you can snorkel.
Wild beaches at Cape Alchak
There are wild beaches in Sudak and on Cape Alchak, and the first one is not yet reaching it - just 50 meters from the Sudak embankment.
This is a wide sandy beach at the beginning of the excursion route to Cape Alchak.
The downside is that the Suuk-Su River flows here and after rains it can bring a lot of silt. But the views from here are simply divine.
Gravernaya Bay (Gravinaya)
The main wild beach of Sudak is, perhaps, Gravernaya Bay (sometimes called Gravel Bay). It is located on Cape Meganom. In summer there are many tourists with tents. They are also delivered by boat. But the water supply here is very bad. There is also almost no shadow.
The beach of Gravernaya Bay has an abundance of small pebbles and is distinguished by an easy entrance to the sea.
Further from Sudak towards Koktebel there is another interesting beach - Shark's Fin .

Entertainment and water attractions
Water park "Sudak"
Those who want to plunge headlong into the water extravaganza have a direct route to the Sudak water park, which is located at Gagarin Street, building 79. It is better to check the cost of entrance tickets in advance on the official website https://sudak-aquapark.com/ or by phone number: +7 /978/ 0962696.
Every year, the water park offers discounts and promotional offers, thanks to which visitors can save significantly on purchasing tickets.
Dolphinarium "Nemo"
You can also go with the whole family to visit sea animals. Sudak Dolphinarium “Nemo” is located on Kommunalnaya Street, building 9a. In addition to the performances, you can take dolphin therapy lessons here, which will be a real delight for both young children and adults.
To add variety to your vacation, you can go horseback riding. For example, it accepts applications for three-day accommodation with services and training. Here you can enjoy the natural beauty, play Russian billiards and ping-pong. And for children there are playgrounds and even a mini zoo.
Equestrian club address: Asret microdistrict, Sosnovy Bor street, building 10.
For avid extreme sports enthusiasts, scuba diving is suitable, which can be done at a local diving center.
The club is located in Kapsel, not far from the city, contact phone number for inquiries: +7 /978/ 7006079.
Nightlife
Evening relaxation is best organized in specialized establishments. Fans of noisy parties should go to the night club “Egoist”, the club complex “Gourmet”, the cowboy bar with the thematic name “Cowboy”, the local club “Priboy” and other entertainment venues.
Nudist beaches
Mostly nudist beaches are located in eastern Crimea in the area of Lisya and Quiet Bays, but in Sudak there is also a place for naturism lovers to retire.
Turtle Beach
One of them is Turtle Beach. It is located behind the Genoese fortress almost at the foot of Mount Sokol, in the very place where the road to the New World makes a big loop.
You can dive here, which is why divers often come here. There are mussels in the rocks, and you can see fish swimming in the water.
The downside of the beach is its steep descent, so it’s not easy to get here. Trees and junipers grow above the beach. The beach is covered with rocks and pebbles. People often come here with tents.
There is no infrastructure here, of course. There is nowhere to buy water and food.
Read my article about nudist beaches in Crimea.
If you want to relax on other beautiful beaches in the vicinity of Sudak, then I advise you to choose the beach in the New World or Tsarsky, behind Cape Kapchik.
Infrastructure condition
The main problem for residents of the city of Sudak is the lack of normal water supply. Water most often comes to houses by the hour (morning and evening). Residents are forced to acquire tanks that are filled during supply hours. It often happens that there is no water for several days. Despite all the inconvenience, water tariffs are off the charts. One cubic meter costs almost 1 dollar. And heating in houses is not cheap. For a three-room apartment, city residents pay more than $80-100 in winter.
Payments for housing and communal services are also expensive. But here the question arises: “Where does the money go?” There is an almost complete absence of normal roads in the city.
Spendiarova Street
If in the central part there is asphalt, although in holes, it is there, then on the outskirts the roads are only dirt roads. The only normal, renovated street is Morskaya.
Regarding urban transport, only one thing can be said: the residents of Sudak are accustomed to walking. There is only one bus running all year round, which can take you to Dachnoe and Uyutny. During tourist times, another route is added, which can take you from the bus station to the Valley of Roses and the water park.
There are also many taxis in the city. In winter, its cost is reasonable: 1-2 dollars, and you are in the right place. In the summer, taxi drivers charge astronomical fares. Well, it wouldn’t be a sin to rip off an extra penny from a vacationer.
Transport
There are no problems with schools in Sudak. There were 13 schools in total. Many simply became hotels. There are three operating schools left. One now bears the proud name “Gymnasium”. This is where all the children want to gnaw on the granite of science.
School No. 2 was recently renovated. The third school educates Crimean Tatar children.
There is also a music school. But there is only one kindergarten. Of course, the authorities are planning to open a second kindergarten. A ton of money has been allocated for its construction, which is proceeding at a rapid pace. All residents hope that in the fall of 2014 the new kindergarten will open its doors to children.
Pleasure for extreme sports enthusiasts
It’s worth going to Sudak to test the strength of your nerves and body. In this city, entertainment with a touch of extreme flourishes - ATV tours in the mountains (favorite destination is Cape Meganom), mountaineering, diving.
Even an inexperienced adventurer can do all this - Sudak will provide him with a competent leader. The diving school operates right on the waterfront. And almost any of the local excursion bureaus can provide a guide for a mountain tour (of which there are more mushrooms in Sudak than mushrooms after rain in the Moscow region).
Transport facilities
It is easy to get to Sudak from virtually anywhere in Crimea. There is no railway here, but there is a bus station from where regular flights depart to Alushta, Feodosia, Stary Krym and a number of other points. The journey from Simferopol to Sudak takes about an hour. Although the roads are “tricky” due to the difficult terrain, they are in order and quite safe.
Local public transport also works well. Although there are neighborhoods without stops, in general the entire city is covered by bus routes; they run regularly, and requests for payment for trips from local carriers are adequate. And another nice detail: in Sudak public transport, young people and men still tend to give up their seats to women, passengers with children and the disabled.
Interesting city
Sudak is able to provide its guests with an interesting cultural program “without leaving the ticket office,” that is, on the spot. The local “star” is the Genoese fortress - a perfectly preserved and restored monument of medieval architecture.
But the city also has a historical museum, architectural monuments (for example, the Lutheran Church building) and simply monuments. Among the latter, the most famous is the Tourist, made of iron by a master blacksmith. The lens of his camera is believed to bring good luck (should be rubbed).
You can explore the city's attractions on your own, or you can sign up for a sightseeing tour of the city. The most interesting thing in Sudak is at the end of August, when the Genoese Helmet festival of reenactors takes place.
Savor
If someone is more interested in dancing, modern music, delicious drinks and a “relaxed” show program, there are also a lot of nightlife establishments in Sudak. Most of them are concentrated on the local Broadway - Cypress Alley.
On this specific street you can find a frivolous club, a bowling alley with everything that comes with it, and restaurants of a wide variety of types. Just walking along it is already a kind of social event.
Among other things, Cypress Alley goes directly to the embankment - spacious, perfectly reconstructed, and long. In Sudak it plays the same role as the embankments of other coastal cities. There is no full-fledged theater or concert hall in Sudak.
In vino veritas
Sudak is a suitable place for connoisseurs of quality alcohol. There is a winery in the city itself (a branch of the legendary Massandra). But the main thing is that it is here.
You can also go to the Crimean capital of champagne itself - the distance is only 8 km. So it won’t be difficult to get there not only by your own car, a regular bus (they run regularly) or a taxi - you can even get there by bicycle with some training!
