Kameshkovsky district is a municipal entity in the northeast of the Vladimir region of Russia. The administrative center is the city of Kameshkovo.

History of Kameshkovsky district

The history of the city of Kameshkovo began with the creation of a factory named after. Ya.M. Sverdlova. After the workers' village of Kameshkovo received city status on July 12, 1951, by Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR, the city-forming enterprise still remained the factory, around which new residential quarters were built. In 1963, a city planning and development project was developed, which determined the further development of industry, housing construction, and the growth of amenities. The following year, the activities outlined in the plan began to be implemented. Until 1970, over 10 thousand square meters of housing, kindergartens, a bakery were built in Kameshkovo, and a branch of the Kovrov printing house was opened.

Until the early seventies, Kameshkovo was a “textile” city. But then new industries began to be created. A branch of the Moscow Experimental Mechanical Plant was opened, which manufactured components and assemblies for laying pipelines. A little later, an asphalt and concrete plant and a number of other enterprises were built.

Social politics

Thus, in 2003, education became a priority item of expenditure, funding for which was increased by 19 percent and amounted to almost 70 million rubles (a third of the entire budget). Education

The district budget supports 13 preschool institutions, 18 schools, a boarding school, a district orphanage, 5 out-of-school institutions, and a number of other facilities. Schools provide free two meals a day for students from large, low-income families. Under the federal program “Children of Russia”, sports equipment was purchased for educational schools in the region for a total amount of 130 thousand rubles. Unique exhibits from 1930-1940 are presented, and meetings with war veterans are also held at the exhibition.
