Geology

The territory of the Kama region is distinguished by great complexity and diversity. The western and central parts of the region are a gently undulating plain with altitudes of 200-400 m above sea level. The plain rises slightly to the east and south.

The highest mountains are in the northeast of the Perm region. The highest point is Mount Tulymsky Stone (1469 m).

In the northwest stretch the Northern Uvals, up to 270 m high, which serve as a watershed between the basins of the Kama and Vychegda rivers. In the west there is the Verkhnekamsk Upland with heights up to 335 m, from where the Kama River, the main river of the Perm region, originates.

In the south stretches the Tulvinskaya Upland (up to 446 m), which to the southwest gives way to the Buiskaya undulating plain. In the southeast is the northern end of the Ufa Plateau (its most elevated part is the Sylvensky Ridge, up to 403 m high).

Between the Northern Uvaly and the Verkhnekamsk Upland lies the Veslyanskaya Lowland (average heights 140-150 m). The lowest areas of the region are the valley of the Kama River and its tributaries. In the extreme southwest of the region, at the edge of the Kama River, the lowest point of the Perm region is located - 66 m.

Folk calendar about every day

Every day one season always replaces another and this determines a person’s way of life. In connection with this, a folk calendar was formed in which there were practically no nameless, unmarked days. Every day was special, had its own purpose. All this was determined by climate conditions and astrological phenomena.

A calendar is a system for counting periods of time. The first calendars arose a long time ago, in ancient times, because there was a need to measure time. The word calendar comes from the Latin words caleo - to proclaim and calendarium - debt book. This is due to the fact that in Ancient Rome the beginning of each month was especially proclaimed, and because it was customary to pay debts on the first day of the month. Different peoples counted time differently. Some calendars are based on the changing phases of the moon - lunar calendars; in others - the change of seasons - sunny; in others, the length of the year was coordinated with the change of seasons, and the counting of months was associated with the phases of the Moon. Such calendars are called lunisolar.

In Rus', the calendar was called a monthly calendar. Every day, the month book covered the entire year of peasant life, “describing” day by day, month after month, where each day had its own holidays or weekdays, customs and superstitions, traditions and rituals, natural signs and phenomena. The cyclical nature of the calendar is reminiscent of human life, where spring is youth, summer is heyday, autumn is the time of harvesting fruits (it’s good if there are some, otherwise you can live your life without collecting fruits), winter is the time of wisdom and peace. Economics [edit]

Non-ferrous metallurgy is based on the processing of ore from the Verkhnekamsk potash deposit, containing magnesium and rare metals. The plants are located in Berezniki (Titanium-magnesium plant of VSMPO Corporation) and Solikamsk (JSC Solikamsk Magnesium Plant).

Military production plays an important role in mechanical engineering. The largest mechanical engineering center is Perm; produces aircraft and rocket engines, oilfield and mining equipment, chainsaws, communications equipment, ships, cable and other products. The largest enterprises are the Motovilikha Plant and the Perm Motor Plant. The forest complex of the region is based on the use of the richest forest resources of the Kama region. Sinkholes in the Perm region

In the two largest cities in the region after Perm, Berezniki and Solikamsk, due to the development of mineral resources, man-made earthquakes occurred, resulting in large landslides.

The Solikamsk and Bereznikovsky failures caused a local disaster and deprived a huge number of people of housing and work. In Berezniki, one person died while filling a hole.

Scientists began to raise concerns about the possible collapse of the mines back in the 70s of the twentieth century, but their arguments were ignored by the local government.

The first accident occurred in July 1986, the collapse was accompanied by a gas explosion. New sinkholes are constantly forming, threatening local residents. The last collapse was recorded in May 2022, just 56 meters from the second Solikamsk sinkhole.

Municipal authorities are engaged in resettlement from emergency housing, but, according to reviews from citizens, the work is not going well enough.

In 2016, the President of the Russian Federation personally drew the government’s attention to the problem of cities and called for punishing officials who were delaying the resettlement process.

Population

The Perm Territory is a multinational territory, like most other constituent entities of the Russian Federation, where representatives of various ethnic and religious groups live together.

Geography

When wondering where the Perm Territory is located, you can often get the answer that it is on the border of Europe and Asia. And although this statement is essentially correct, it is worth noting that only 0.2% of the entire territory of the region belongs to the Asian part of Russia.
