Kurganinsk is the administrative center of the Kurganinsky district, located on a plain stretching along the Laba mountain river. Precipitation in Kurganinsk is sufficient, about 600 mm per year. In April, August and September there can be periods of drought of up to several weeks, which have been increasing in recent years. Story

The pedigree of Kurganinsk begins with a Cossack village. Glorious workers and brave warriors - the linear Cossacks laid the first stone of the village of Kurgannaya in 1853. On the right bank of the Laba, on a mound, on the site of a Cossack guard post, 70 Cossack families who arrived from beyond the Kuban settled a settlement, named in association with the characteristic area with the abundance of ancient mounds, the village of Kurgannaya. A historical and architectural pearl and an iconic symbol of the Kurganinsky region, it is rightfully considered the Holy The Ascension Church is a unique creation of architects, which is included in the treasury of cultural values ​​of Kuban and Russia. During the Great Patriotic War, 22 thousand Kurgan residents went to defend their homeland, 12 thousand were awarded orders and medals for feats of arms, and 14 Kurgan residents became Heroes of the Soviet Union, including residents of the city Vladimir Serov, Ivan Serikov, Mikhail Sakhnenko, Pyotr Deggev, Panteley Burakov became a full holder of the Order of Glory. The Nika memorial is dedicated to the memory of those who fell during the Civil and Great Patriotic Wars. The relay of the heroic feat of their grandfathers was continued by young residents of Kurganinsk Valery Ocheretny and Oleg Protsenko, who were posthumously awarded the title of Heroes of Russia. The names of these soldiers, who stood up to defend the integrity of the country, now bear the new streets of Kurganinsk. Our Kurganin land became famous for the fact that the talented director I.A. Pyryev shot the film “Kuban Cossacks” here in the late 40s. In 2003, at the request of area residents, the famous arch from the film, which had adorned the city for several decades since 1950, was restored. In memory of the People's Artist of the USSR Klara Stepanovna Luchko, who played one of the main roles in the film, a memorial sign was erected and the central square of Kurganinsk was named after her. The museum is dedicated to the permanent exhibition “The Pearl of the Kurganin Land” to Klara Stepanovna. The Kurganin Museum is housed in a specially built building, which allows it to host and exhibit regional, republican and even foreign exhibitions. The asphalt surface of many roads has been renewed, hundreds of meters of new sidewalks have been built, intersections have been equipped with traffic lights, and new pavilions have been erected at bus stops. The markets, station and central squares, and the children's building of the district hospital were reconstructed.

Main attractions

Like any other small city in southern Russia, Kurganinsk cannot boast of an abundance of attractions. Local residents will proudly show you the Holy Ascension Church, built in 1906.
