Parks and squares

Voronezh has many green park areas awaiting visitors at any time of the year.

"Scarlet Sails"

The Scarlet Sails Park was founded on the coast of the Voronezh reservoir on the street. Arzamasskaya, 4a in 1975. By the 425th anniversary of the formation of the city, the garden was reconstructed according to the design of the French designer O. Damier. The park area is divided into thematic areas: dance floor; recreation and picnic areas; beach; summer theater; children's clearing; cafeteria.

Over time, the significantly expanded botanical garden was transferred to the department of the university. During the German occupation, all green plantings were destroyed, and the park was restored literally from scratch. The municipal green area is located at: st. Lenina, 10.

Housing

Salaries in Voronezh, therefore, are not too high. Housing is quite expensive. Renting a one-room apartment, for example, will most likely cost no less than 10,000 rubles. per month. But, if you try, you can find cheaper housing in Voronezh.

Buying an apartment will also become a very burdensome enterprise for the budget. A square meter, depending on the area, can cost from 40 to 60 thousand rubles.

The building of the former Bristol Hotel

The four-story house with numerous rounded elements and smooth curves is considered one of the main decorations of Revolution Avenue. The Bristol Hotel was built with money from the owner of a warehouse for agricultural implements and machines, Prosvirkin, and the head of the enterprise for the production of fireproof products, Litvinov. The design of the building, built according to the latest technological thought of the early 20th century, belonged to the engineer Furmanov.

– This was the first building in Voronezh with an elevator. There were two of them: a kitchen one and one for guests. Reinforced concrete slabs were used for the floors,” said Olga Rudeva.

During the Civil War, the Bristol building housed military headquarters. Hotel status returned in the 1930s. Before the Great Patriotic War, writers, journalists, and students lived there. In Soviet times, the name of the hotel "Bristol" was called "Central". The historical name returned only in the 90s. At the same time, restoration work was carried out on the building.

The walls of "Bristol" keep the secrets of many guests: the suicide of a bankrupt merchant, murders, the feast of the white General Shkuro in honor of the capture of Voronezh in September 1919.

The Bristol building has not lost its original splendor, made in the Art Nouveau style. Now there are cafes and office space there.

Information from RIA Voronezh

Architectural modernism is distinguished by the rejection of straight lines and angles in favor of more natural, “natural” lines, the use of metal and glass. One of the first architects to work in the Art Nouveau style was the Belgian Victor Horta. He gave the load-bearing structures made of iron unusual shapes, reminiscent of fantastic plants. The Spaniard Antonio Gaudi went even further from classical ideas about architecture. The buildings he built in Barcelona resemble fairy-tale palaces to some, and houses from the distant future to others.

In the culinary establishments of Voronezh you can have a good meal for a very reasonable price. And also a one-of-a-kind restaurant serving Italian and Japanese cuisine - fusion cafe IL Tokyo, which attracts guests not only with delicious dishes, but also with a fabulous panorama of the city, opening from the summer veranda of the restaurant, located on the 8th floor of the business center on Ave. Revolutions.

Gardenin's house. The oldest building in Voronezh

History of the house

: By the time Tsar Peter I arrived in Voronezh, the mansion of the merchant, owner of the cloth factory Potap Gardenin, stood on the embankment in the area of modern Sofia Perovskaya Street. Peter demanded that Gardenin vacate the land and move to any other part of Voronezh. Potap built a new house, and subsequently a cloth factory and the Tikhvin-Onufrievskaya Church on the free, elevated plain of the outskirts of Belomestnaya Sloboda (now the Fabrichny Lane area).

At the end of the 18th century, the cloth business ceased to generate income, and the grandson of the famous merchant sold the factory to the city authorities. For a long time, the building housed various institutions: a hospital, an orphanage, an almshouse, and a home for the disabled. The buildings of Potap Gardenin (“Gardeninsky Historical and Architectural Complex”) are under state protection as an example of the development of the region in Voronezh before 1774.

– Now Gardenin’s house, built in the Baroque style, has been declared unsafe, and the residents are awaiting relocation. Let's be honest, the residents here don't like their home and don't value its past. The building is in terrible condition. There is a real poultry farm in the yard. In the future, they promised to restore the house as a cultural center.

Information from RIA Voronezh

How the Baroque style emerged at the beginning of the 17th century in Europe.
The simple geometric forms of the Renaissance were replaced by complex compositions and lush decorativeness. Baroque came to Russia in the 18th century and reached its peak only in the middle of the century, when a transition to classicism had already begun in Europe. Russian Baroque, in contrast to Western European, is characterized by greater simplicity and structure of compositions. In Russia, they preferred to use gypsum and plaster for finishing. Most often in architectural compositions of that era there are combinations of red, blue or yellow with white, as in the Gardenin house. Ornamental modeling is most often used as decorative elements decorating the facades of Baroque buildings. In Gardenin's house, the window sinks are well preserved.

Features of the city

In recent years, the appearance of Voronezh has begun to change. Well-equipped playgrounds for children appeared, and night lighting was improved. At the same time, the problem of pollution remains. The issue is not emissions into the atmosphere; most industrial enterprises are not operating at the moment. Janitors very rarely work on city streets, and this is reflected in the appearance.

There are many places for cultural recreation. The city has theaters, museums, and cinemas. It is interesting to visit the local aquarium, where you can not only see animals and fish. There are many parks and entertainment centers. Shops and markets.

Those who visit the city for the first time are often surprised by the urban development. Next to the new high-rise buildings there are small private houses built after the war. This causes bewilderment for many, but, nevertheless, the picture has not changed for many years.

Many people are pleasantly surprised by the low cost of travel on public transport. There has been no price increase for several years. Now one trip on the bus costs 23 rubles.

The favorable location of Voronezh has rewarded it with a mild climate. There are warm summers and mild winters. During the cold season there is often a thaw and not much snow falls.

Moving to Voronezh can only be successful if you can find a decent job. The city practically lost its industrial potential, but this was not the end of it. The easiest way to get a job is in the trade and services sector, but good specialists will also never be left without work.

Job

Also, many visitors complain that in Voronezh it is quite difficult to find a job with a decent salary. The average salary in the city is 20-30 thousand rubles, the same as in the deep provinces. In any case, at first, newcomers usually manage to find only low-skilled, low-paid jobs. Many students who studied in Voronezh are forced to leave for Moscow or St. Petersburg.

The only thing is that new enterprises are now being built in the city. And perhaps there will soon be more jobs with good salaries here.
