Nizhnekamsk is a young city, founded in the taiga on the Kama River in 1961 (the official date of foundation is January 12, 1965). Its construction began simultaneously with the construction of a huge petrochemical plant for the production of tires for domestic cars.
The tire “capital” of Russia, which was under construction day and night, quickly became one of the most convenient cities for people to live in Russia. Comfortable housing, wide straight streets border with Muslim and Christian temples, park areas and sports grounds are safe and accessible at any time. The comfortable urban environment is complemented by historical monuments and attractions in the surrounding area.

Parks and monuments, streets
Gabdulla Tukay Park
Address: between Khimikov Avenue and Yunosti Street Cost: free admission
The park was rebuilt at the same time as the library, so it acquired its first and main feature - it became a place for reading and relaxation. All conditions have been created for this: comfortable benches in the alleys and fountains, near which even on a hot day it is not hot to leaf through a familiar book.
The second feature of the park is its theme. Next to the library and the stage there is a stand-book with a biography of the famous Tatar writer Tukay, as well as excerpts from his famous works.
Along the alleys there are paths leading to a reading area for children, filled with figures of heroes of Tatar folk tales and works of the writer. In the “Tukaevsky” corner you can do anything: sit on the grass and read, run on the lawn and have a picnic. There are no restrictions.
There is an interesting corner here. Its secret can only be discovered at night: the pavement tiles near Koza, Baran and Byltyr shimmer, creating national patterns - Tatar tulips.
A little less than half of the park is occupied by an area for sports and games. The complexes are installed for children of different ages. Little ones can ride down the slides and swing on the swings, while older ones can practice on the turnstiles, wall bars, rings and crossbars.
All recreation areas of the park with great features are united by the monument to Gabdulla Tukay.

It is better for children to go through the “Steps of Creativity”: a game with geoplastics, music, drawing, chess, and an arts stage in the form of an amphitheater.
It’s worth taking a walk through the square in the evening to reach the renovated fountain, which has a light attraction - a laser projection of the logos of the city’s factories and factories, as well as portraits of the city’s celebrities.
The park's organizers took care of safety - the paths were equipped with night lighting and video surveillance.

Source "Holy Key"
Address: Krasny Klyuch village, Svyatoy Klyuch park Directions: by trams No. 2 and No. 8 to the stop. "Red Key"
On the left bank of the Kama there is a Holy Spring, which has united both Orthodox and Muslims for many centuries.
According to legend, in 1666, Imam Duhait came here to find a site for a new city. In the forest, on the slope of a mountain, an icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker appeared to him, next to which there was a spring with healing water. The imam dug a cave in this place, to which a very narrow hole led (it was possible to move along it only on all fours). He made a depression in the ground at the foot of the cave - a small pool, and created a simple system of gutters so that water from the source in the cave could flow into it. He built a modest chapel over the entrance to the cave, visible from the river.
The imam’s grave has not survived, but for several hundred years a stone with Arabic script stood over it.
People of any faith come to worship the holy spring, which does not freeze even in winter. They always drink healthy and tasty water, wash their faces with it, and the bravest ones swim in the pool, not afraid of its low temperature.
Today, the territory of the source - a whole cascade of waterfalls flowing from the hill - is landscaped with natural rubble stone and forged fences. There is a Wishing Tree and a kissing fence with locks.
Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God
Address: Bolshoye Afanasovo village, st. Tsentralnaya, 61 Phone: (8555)444332 Website: hram-p.narod.ru Opening hours: 6.00-18.00, Mon-Sun Directions: route No. 56 to the stop. "Brickworks"
The church was built in 1817 on the site of a wooden church and is an architectural monument of the classicism period.
The fate of the double-altar church is unenviable: it was closed in 1930, and returned to believers only in the late 80s of the 20th century.
The church was illuminated again in 1990, restored with the help of parishioners-philanthropists and OJSC Nizhnekamskneftekhim. Today, the blue building of the temple with the hemisphere of a huge dome is one of the spiritual centers of Nizhnekamsk.
Church of John of Kronstadt in Nizhnekamsk
Address: Krasny Klyuch village, st. Sadovaya, 5 Opening hours: 8.00-16.00 Mon-Sun Travel: by trams No. 2 and No. 8 to the stop. "Red Key"
The famous priest John of Kronstadt visited the Holy Spring several times at the invitation of the merchant-philanthropists Stakheevs. Here, in honor of him, in just 3 years (1992-1995), a small temple with a ridge on the roof was built.
The rectangular white stone structure cannot be called majestic. But simplicity and architectural uncomplicatedness do not “ground” the temple and increase the faith of parishioners in the miracle created by the saint.
Monument to the Defenders of the Motherland
A tall, light obelisk with a star on top, the Eternal Flame, as well as memorial steles represent a single image of the monument to the defenders of the Motherland. Its opening was timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Near the memorial there are several pieces of military equipment.
Location: Lemaev Square.
Industry of the city
The industrial complex is represented by Nizhnekamskneftekhim OJSC, the Nizhnekamsk Tire Plant, the Tatarstan Oil Refinery Complex, the Nizhnekamsk Carbon Black Plant, and a thermal power plant. OAO Nizhnekamskneftekhim accounts for more than 40% of pollutants. In recent years, the company has managed to reduce the volume of emissions and wastewater. Heavily contaminated wastewater undergoes biotreatment, and sulfur-alkaline wastewater is disposed of. In 2014, the enterprise launched an Environmental Program for 7 years, as a result of which the volume of emissions, wastewater and discharges, non-recyclable and recyclable waste, used water, land restoration, city greening, sanitary care of forests, creation of a unified sanitary protection system should be reduced. zones of an industrial hub. All large enterprises have identified the primary task of increasing the level of cleanliness of air and water. In this regard, funds are allocated for the construction of treatment facilities, modernization of industrial facilities, and landscaping of urban areas
Embankment of the Kama River
The city embankment is created for pleasant walks in good company. The view of the city on one side and the Kama River on the other creates a pleasant, refreshing atmosphere and fills you with a good mood.
Evening embankment is a charming place. Numerous lanterns lit along the entire walking area give a feeling of calm and set the mood for a romantic mood.
When arranging the embankment, the wishes of the townspeople were taken into account and stairs were provided that make it possible to go down directly to the water.
