Adygea is a tiny republic in southern Russia with huge opportunities for hiking tourism. The natural diversity of Adygea is incredible - steep mountains, wild rivers, alpine meadows and protected forests. It’s worth going here only if you truly appreciate nature and want to take a break from civilization.
I recommend staying in Maykop or the village of Kamennomostsky, as they are located on the only highway in the republic, A-159, along which all the attractions are located. The most convenient way to get around in Adygea is by car, so you can see everything during the day and return to the hotel in the evening.
Route No. 1
The natural boundaries of Lago-Naki are the “Stone Sea” ridge and Mount Messo. On the southwestern side of the plateau there are mountains called the Fisht-Oshtensky massif. It is the mountains that create the background landscape that adorns the plain. These places are very beautiful. The plateau territory is part of the Caucasus Nature Reserve. There are no large elevation changes or difficult terrain. This is why Lago-Naki is ideal for beginner tourists.
The vegetation here is quite sparse. Buttercups stand out with bright yellow spots. Valerian is also found. Thyme can be identified from a distance by its bitter aroma in the air. Caucasian rhododendron pleases with white flowers. This evergreen shrub can reach a meter in height. Juniper spreads in the river valleys. Relict boxwood is also found here.
A popular tourist route has been laid along the plateau since Soviet times.
During the Soviet era, the All-Union Tourist Route No. 30 was laid through these places, which was extremely popular. For the first time tourists went along it back in the 30s of the last century. It began at the Gornaya tourist center in Adygea and ended in Dagomys. The duration of the trip was 20 days. Now it operates in a five-day version and is called “Eco-tourist route No. 1”.
Lago+Naki=love
Most legends are dedicated to unhappy love. The legend associated with the Lago-Naki plateau is no exception. According to legend, a wealthy Adyghe prince had a beautiful daughter named Naki. The prince owned fat flocks of sheep, which were tended by the shepherd Lago. It so happened that the girl and the boy met and fell in love with each other. The ending of this story was predictable.
The father had already found a noble groom for his daughter when he learned about her secret meetings with a simple shepherd. The prince's anger knew no bounds. Fortunately, the maid managed to warn Nucky about the impending storm. Without hesitation, the young people saddled their horses and galloped away. The chase caught up with them at the very cliff. They had no choice but to hold hands and throw themselves into the abyss. Since then, the beautiful area where this tragic event took place began to be called Lago-Naki.

The balneological hospital is located at: Maykop, lane. Mineralny, 1. You can get there by bus to the Mineralny Istochnik stop or Lenin Square.
Kurgan Oshad can be found at the intersection of Kurgannaya and Podgornaya streets.

The National Museum of Adygea is located at: st. Sovetskaya, 229. You should get to the “Pobeda” stop by trolleybuses No. 1, 2, 6, and then proceed along the street. Victory. Opening hours: on Thursdays from 9:00 to 21:00, on other days from 9:00 to 18:00. Ticket prices are set depending on the age category of visitors.
Maykop resort description

Sometimes there is snow in the city. Real warmth begins in the region in the second half of May and continues until October. In the shade, the air temperature in summer reaches up to 22 degrees. There is practically no wind.
Your holiday in Maykop will be eventful and interesting. In the city itself and its surroundings there are about 70 architectural, historical and natural attractions.
Make yourself a list of interesting things, otherwise you won’t see half of what you could. Chaotic movements around the city do not contribute to the efficient use of time.
Dozens of exciting excursions, walks and new acquaintances await you. Hiking tours, bike rides, and competitions are popular in the city.
If you want to combine relaxation with treatment, then you should stay near the village of Pobeda. It is here that there is a balneological hospital and sanatoriums where diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and other disorders are successfully treated.
You can get to Maykop by plane, train or bus. If you drive with your own car, then the issue of public transport is considered closed.
