The history of Dyatkovo in the Bryansk region dates back to the first half of the 17th century. At that time it was a village, and the small population consisted mainly of peasants. The heyday of Dyatkovo can be considered the construction of the Crystal Factory in 1790, associated with the name of the widow Marya Vasilyevna Maltsova. Now it is a city in which visitors are presented with various attractions.
A little history
The crystal and glass factory was located in the forest, not far from the village. The plant developed and gained popularity among the residents of Dyatkovo, and soon the village merged with a workers’ village. The consequence of this was that in the 19th century Dyatkovo began to be considered one of the largest villages in the Bryansk district .
The plant was an important part in the life of the peasants; there was a first-aid post and a pharmacy attached to it. Thanks to him, the residents of Dyatkovo were able to feed themselves and their families. Throughout the history of interaction between the Crystal Factory and workers, there have been many ups and downs. But every time the workers became more experienced, and the quality of the factory’s products became higher. It was sold to cities such as Moscow, Kharkov, Rostov-on-Don, Kyiv and Nizhny Novgorod. In 1926, a wood processing plant was also built. The village was granted city status in 1983.
The Great Patriotic War
In difficult years for the country, the residents of Dyatkovo did not remain indifferent. In November 1941, the Nazis occupied the territory of the city. Incredible damage was caused to the Dyatkovo district.
The Nazis burned houses, factories, mills, stables and farmyards. But the residents of the area did not despair. Partisan detachments and sabotage groups were created. They worked on railroad tracks, highways and other roads. Despite the fear of death, adults and children fought desperately against the invaders .
The fighting of the partisans was not in vain. On the territory of the Dyatkovo district, right behind enemy lines, Soviet power was restored. This territory began to be called “Sovetsky District” or “Partizansk”.
In 1943, the Red Army officially liberated Dyatkovo from the Nazis. The restoration of the economy began in the region.
Post-war years, overcoming devastation
After the war, the residents of Dyatkovo began to restore life in their city. It began in 1945 with the Crystal Factory. It was he who was first brought to work. In 1946, new houses began to be built and furniture was created. This is the merit of the wood processing plant. Also in 1956, the Khrustalshchikov House of Culture was built.
In the late 50s, five-story apartment buildings began to be built, and natural gas came to the city. In the same years, the plant of electric vacuum devices began operating. Life gradually returned to its previous direction, but the imprint of the terrible war days remained in the memory as an indelible black spot of fear.
Temple monument to the icon "Burning Bush"
The temple is quite original, because it is the only one in the entire country that has a crystal iconostasis, weighing approximately three tons. Some sources claim that this is not something you will see anywhere in the world.
The church was built in 2003. The temple has a small room. It is important to note that the idea of construction did not arise from scratch, but based on ancient references to the fact that there was a similar church in the then village of Dyatkovo, in the 19th century, but its iconostasis was not preserved.
City sights and cultural heritage
The events that took place in the life of Dyatkovo and the region left their mark on the cultural heritage of the city. There are not many attractions. But there are also advantages. A tourist will definitely find something interesting here.
Museum of History and Local Lore
Initially, the museum was named “Museum of Military Glory”. It was created by partisans and members of the Red Army. The museum houses exhibits from the Great Patriotic War.
Various front-line letters, photographs, weapons, documents and much more allow you to plunge into the atmosphere of war times. Having visited the local history museum, the guest will be able to trace the development of hostilities on the territory of the Dyatkovo district and get a feel for how people lived during the war. You can also recognize the heroes of Dyatkovo who saved lives, and others who showed their resilience and courage. The museum began to operate only closer to the 80s. But its exhibits are still being replenished today.
Partisan Glory Square
The square was opened in 2011, in honor of awarding the title of “City of Partisan Glory” to the city of Dyatkovo. The park is very beautiful and neat. The entrance to it is decorated with an arch in the shape of a red star. There are comfortable benches and paths throughout the area. In the evening, the area is illuminated by beautiful lanterns. In the center of the square there is a stele - a memorial wall to the partisans of the Dyatkovo district.
The square is a favorite place for tourists and residents of all ages:
- Kids will also find something to do here, as there is a playground for them.
- This place will also appeal to older people who love to listen to the rustling of leaves.
Memorial Partizanskaya Polyana
This is the place that townspeople recommend visiting first. It is easy to get to the memorial complex, despite the fact that it is located in the forest. The roads are good, along their length there are signs indicating the location of the complex.
The clearing contains historically significant sculptures. There is also a museum on site. It hosts interesting excursions that allow you to plunge into history. The variety of exhibits is complemented by a variety of military equipment, which the guide will also talk about.
Nature and fresh air make it possible to especially enjoy the Partisan Glade Memorial. Here you can breathe fresh air, listen to a story about the partisan exploits of your fellow citizens, visit a museum, a dugout and have a delicious meal in a cafe.
Crystal Museum
Previously, the museum was part of the same Crystal Factory, thanks to which Dyatkovo became famous in the USSR. Now the Crystal Museum houses unique exhibits.
The crystal multicolor amazes the eyes of visitors:
- On the ground floor there are exhibits revealing the history of the plant's progress. Various thematic exhibitions and original works surprise with their diversity.
- Factory tours are also available. There you can see with your own eyes the techniques of working with crystal and glass. This is the favorite part of the tour for many visitors.
- On the territory of the museum there are some kind of souvenir shops where you can buy crystal and glass factory masterpieces. Custom orders are not excluded.
Temple and church
The temple-monument to the Burning Bush icon is unique for its iconostasis made of crystal. It appears before the guests of unusual beauty. And the crystal chandelier, proudly shining above the heads of visitors, only complements the beautiful picture. Such a miracle cannot be found anywhere else in Russia, or maybe even in the whole world.
The walls of the temple are decorated with frescoes. In them you can get acquainted with various historical and biblical stories of Christianity. The temple is so unusual in structure that even its dome clearly stands out among the trees and other houses.
The strict and laconic appearance of the church in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord will be appreciated by those who do not like unnecessary pomposity. It is also famous for its miraculous shrines:
- icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker;
- Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary “Hodegetria”;
- relics of Tikhon of Zadonsk;
- the relics of Matrona of Moscow, John Chrysostom and many others.
Residents of Dyatkovo greatly value their Transfiguration Church for its calm atmosphere, in which they can feel the importance of harmony with themselves.
Lenin Street
The main and most beautiful street of the city proudly bears the name of the great leader. Almost all the attractions of Dyatkovo are located along this street. Citizens love to walk along it, and local authorities continue to equip and decorate it. It is very green and wide.
According to the original design, it was supposed to be two-lane, but since there is not much transport in the city, one lane is pedestrian, and the second is intended for cars. They are separated by beautiful lanterns with a lawn and flowers.
Lenin Street is one with Sovetskaya Square, on which there is a pedestal with a monument to Lenin, and on both sides of it, in two different buildings, the district administration and the district council of deputies meet. Not far from them, on the same square, there is a majestic House of Culture with columns. The street stretches across the entire city, and is crowned by an unusual temple.
Partisan Glory Square
Partisan glory is sung in almost every corner of the city and is local pride. Not far from the House of Culture there is a whole square, embodied according to the idea of the architect from Bryansk E. Skachkov.
This is a well-kept park with comfortable benches, paved paths and lacy lanterns. At its center is a memory wall.
