Samara: top attractions and what to see

Excursions around Samara and the surrounding area here and here | Rent an apartment in Samara

Sights of Samara: in the Art Nouveau style, Russian style and even the German Renaissance. Half-timbered house and Zhiguli beer. There is definitely something to see in Samara!

However, Samara is a city of contrasts. This thought did not leave me for three days as we explored the city space and nearby natural beauty. There are stunning merchant houses and numerous wooden houses that are dying and ready to be resettled due to disrepair, next to which ugly “candle” high-rise buildings are being built. Here, masterpieces of lush Soviet buildings decorated with thematic bas-reliefs coexist with almost destroyed monuments of pre-revolutionary architecture.

Tourists who come to the city by boat, and therefore will be here for a maximum of half a day, see only the front part of it: a long shady embankment and beach, a couple of parks and several blocks of streets parallel to the embankment and very well put in order. All the top attractions of Samara are concentrated here, all the facades are in order and pleasing to the eye, the sidewalks are perfectly smooth, in general, everything is clean and shiny.

Train Station

If you plan to arrive in the city by rail , then when you get out of the car, you will immediately encounter the first attraction.

The station building is the tallest of its kind in Europe. It was erected at the beginning of the 21st century

The hundred-meter structure made of glass and concrete is a striking example of modern architecture.

On its territory there is an archaeological site - a settlement of the 8th-9th centuries, a lot of entertainment, including a ski slope with a lift in winter and a beach in summer.

Victory Park is thematic: it houses a museum of military equipment, an eternal flame and several monuments. The Botanical Garden at the University contains collections of plants from all over the world, some of which are housed in greenhouses.

    to Russia

Samara captivates tourists at first sight.
If you come to the city by train, then all you have to do is get out of the station and look around... The building of the railway station will impress even experienced travelers. The highest station in Europe, without a doubt, can be considered a landmark of Samara. If you have time, it’s worth going to the observation deck, located at an altitude of 64 meters. The view is amazing! The station is very important for local residents and visitors to the city - more than 15 thousand passengers pass through here every day.

Of course, it is best to arrive in Samara early in the morning and watch from the window of a bus or taxi as this ancient Russian city wakes up. In appearance, Samara is an ordinary metropolis. But take a closer look and you realize that you want to stay in Samara longer. Moreover, there are a lot of interesting places and hospitable residents. And, of course, the most beautiful girls.

Samara is such a diverse city that everyone will find something to their liking. Religious tourists will be interested in the Orthodox churches, mosques and synagogues of the city. There are many temples of different faiths here. There are, of course, the most Orthodox churches - more than 35. It is worth visiting the Iversky Convent, founded in 1850.

It was in this monastery that the Samara banner was embroidered, under which our troops fought the Turks in Bulgaria.

If you want to add to your collection of photographs of city attractions, then go to the famous monument, the Ladya Stele. It is located on the steep slope of Oktyabrskaya Embankment. The Volga boat with a large sail was installed in 1986 in honor of the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city. You should definitely see the monument to Vladimir Vysotsky, located in the park between Leningradskaya and Galaktionovskaya streets. The monument to the Soyuz launch vehicle at the Samara Space Museum on Kozlov Square is also impressive. This is a real R-7 rocket!

There is even a monument to a heating battery in Samara. The author of the bronze sculpture, Nikolai Kuklev, depicted a cat basking on the windowsill under the radiator. The opening of the composition was dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the invention of the heating battery. The monument to the Internet user also belongs to the authorship of Kuklev. The sculpture looks very original - it’s a thoughtful monkey sitting on a computer monitor. This Internet user is holding a keyboard in his paws.

Samara Drama Theater named after. Gorky, without a doubt, can be considered one of the most striking cultural sites in the city. The building alone is worth it! The theater in Samara has been operating since 1851. It was then that the first professional troupe was formed here - Strelkov’s enterprise. In 1888, the theater found its home - a building in a conventionally Russian style designed by the architect Chichagov. Interestingly, Samarans began to call the theater building a “teremok”. In 1901, plays by Maxim Gorky were first shown on this stage.

And, of course, don’t forget to take a walk along the local Arbat, the pedestrian Leningradskaya Street.

Kuibyshev Square

Another place in Samara that allows the city to compete with European countries. The Kuibyshev area occupies an area of more than 17 hectares . This is the fourth place in Europe.

There are four public gardens at the corners of the square. The Academic Opera and Ballet Theater is located on the square. The building is a monument of Soviet architecture.

The largest and most conveniently located among them is “Krasnaya Glinka” at the foot of the Sokoli Mountains. In the village of Upravlencheskiy, 7 km from Krasnaya Glinka, there are two ski resorts: Chaika and Dynamo, but the slopes are small; fans of cross-country skiing come here more often.

Another complex has been opened outside the city - “Sklon” (office site), just 6 km from “Krasnaya Glinka”. It is not so convenient to get there, so there are not many people, the slides are small, but, according to reviews, they are good springboards for jumping.
