Sterlitamaksky district

(Russian: Sterlitamaksky districts; Bashkir: Stәrletamaҡ districts) is an administrative [1] and municipal [7] district (rayon), one of fifty-four in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia. It is located in the center of the republic and borders the Aurgazinsky district in the north, the Gafuriysky district in the northeast, the Ishimbaysky district in the east and southeast, the Meleuzovsky district in the south, the Sterlibashevsky district in the southwest, the Miyakinsky district in the west, the Alsheevsky district in west and northwest. The county's area is 2,216 square kilometers (856 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the city of Sterlitamak [3] (which is not administratively part of the district). [6] As of the 2010 census, the total population of the district was 40,325. [4]

Administrative and municipal status[edit]

According to administrative division, the Sterlitamak district is one of fifty-four in the republic. [1] It is divided into 20 village councils, comprising 111 rural settlements. [6] The city of Sterlitamak is its administrative center, [3] despite the fact that it is included separately as a city of republican significance - an administrative unit with a status equal to that of districts. [6]

As a municipal entity, the district is included in the Sterlitamak municipal district
