Beaches of Zelenogradsk - the most complete overview, marks on the map, photos, reviews, hotels nearby

The best beaches of Zelenogradsk

As we have already said, the residents of Zelenogradsk are proud of their beaches. They are very wide, reaching 200 meters in some places. They stretch for almost 2 kilometers. The sand here is fine, pleasant, and golden. Entry into the water is smooth. Therefore, if you are afraid of the depths or are planning to go on vacation with children, then you don’t have to worry - it’s very shallow near the shore. In some places strong waves rise, but the beach shore is protected from them by breakwaters. The promenade is located high above the beach. Therefore, the city administration also took care of the descent to the beach. Slides are installed everywhere. It is very important that during the swimming season there are lifeguards on the beach every day.

On the Zelenograd beaches there are small clearings between the dunes, they are called frying pans. Bushes and trees grow around these frying pans, so the wind hardly gets into them. Thanks to this, you can sunbathe there even in spring and early autumn. There is a promenade along the beach, which was built specifically for tourists after the First World War. It overlooks the beach and the wide Baltic Sea.

On the other side is a city with developed infrastructure, designed specifically for tourism. Everything is provided there for visitors - places for walks, historical sights, sanatoriums, hotels and much more. Another interesting solution was the installation of webcams on the beaches. They broadcast 24/7. Therefore, to better learn about the beaches of Zelenogradsk, you can watch recordings from these cameras. This way you can form a more vivid picture of them.

Overview of all beaches in Zelenogradsk

The beaches of Zelenogradsk are always full of vacationers. In summer the sun is hot here, so everyone runs to the sea to cool off. 2022 saw record tourist numbers despite the pandemic. But on the beach, because it is wide, there is still a place. The sand is incredibly pleasant to the touch, fine and soft. You can go to the beach just to walk along it. In some places of the Zelenograd beach it is lighter than in others. There is no garbage on the beaches; people always throw it in the nearest trash cans. You won’t find stones and shells in the sand either.

As for the water in the sea, it all depends on the weather. In hot weather, the water is cool, but swimming is still possible and even necessary. The water is clear and clean, there are practically no algae in it. If you still want to have a good swim, it is better to plan a vacation to the Baltic Sea in July.

Popular West Beach

Central Beach

Central Beach is the most popular beach in Zelenogradsk. In addition to the availability of amenities and cleanliness, there is a lot of entertainment here. There is a promenade along the beach where you can walk, ride bicycles, and even play sports. As on the entire coast, the sand here is soft and light, pleasant to the touch; you can safely walk along the beach barefoot. The entry into the sea is smooth, without sharp cliffs. As for amenities, everything is there. Changing cabins are needed - they are located near the central staircase. If you make a sun lounger or a basket, they rent them out on the beach. Toilets are also installed. True, there are not many of them, and you need to climb the stairs to get to them. There are also showers where you can rinse off the sand. Next to the showers there are fountains for drinking or getting some water.

Central Beach

It is very important and necessary to have lifeguards on towers at the entrance to the beach. They constantly watch people swim. Compared to other beaches, West Beach is not very wide, but rather long. It stretches right to the neighboring village. Above the beach there is an embankment with all kinds of entertainment not only for adults, but also for children. After walking a little, the embankment becomes narrower and the beach wider. This is exactly the place where tourists and residents of Zelenogradsk like to settle, especially at the height of the season. By the way, descents to the beach are provided in different places.

The necessary conditions have been created for a comfortable stay on the Western Beach. You can wear swimsuits in the changing cabins. Paid showers and restrooms are also available. Sun loungers, baskets and umbrellas can be rented directly on the beach. In addition, there are small kiosks built on the sand by the sea where you can buy snacks and various drinks for every taste.

By the way, anyone can come to the beach. There are no amenities on the beach itself, with the exception of paid sunbeds, limited in number. Mostly all amenities are located on site. Beach Frying Pan

As we have already said, “frying pans” in Zelenogradsk are called a beach on which there are areas surrounded by dunes and trees and bushes. Due to such closedness, these areas are very hot. The place is ideal for those who love to sunbathe. And the value of the Frying Pan is precisely that in hot areas you can sunbathe from mid-spring until September. This is surprising, because on the Baltic coast the season usually lasts only July and August.

Unfortunately, from 2022 it is no longer possible to sunbathe inside “frying pans”. The administration decided to ban their visits so as not to spoil the nature of nearby places. But anyone can visit Skovorodka beach. Admission is free and there is plenty of space. There are almost no amenities on the beach; it is better to go to the central part for them.

Beach Frying Pan

They try to monitor and care for the beach. There is no garbage here; it is constantly removed and taken away. Visitors will clearly appreciate the soft and pleasant sand without any inclusions of pebbles and shells. Entry into the sea is gradual. The water in the sea usually heats up to 20 degrees, occasionally a couple of degrees higher. As we have already said, there is a lot of space here and there is not a large influx of people, so you can safely go to Skovorodka beach and settle down in a way that is convenient for you.

There are three volleyball courts on Skovorodka beach. Partly because of them this beach is famous. Various games and competitions in beach volleyball and more are held there. During such events, a lot of people gather on the beach and a festive atmosphere is created.

  • A short walk from the beach, you can go to the promenade where there are cafes, restaurants and bars. Have a snack and quench your thirst.
  • Right behind the beach begins the City Park, where there is a lot of greenery and a pond with water lilies.

Malinovka Beach

The beach in Malinovka is not as popular as those in Zelenogradsk. That's what's good about it - there are no crowds there. It’s better to go to Malinovka if you are tired of the noise and din of strangers. The beach is located not far from the neighboring cottage village of Zelenogradsk with the same name. You need to drive about 15 kilometers from the village of Malinovka to the beach.

Malinovka beach itself is quite wide and spacious. And due to the fact that there is little vegetation near the beach, you can take a place in the shade. Therefore, for those who do not tolerate direct sunlight, this place is perfect.

Malinovka Beach

A large family with children should also enjoy a holiday on Malinovka beach. And all because the sand is pleasant, the entrance to the sea is smooth, and even after about 10-15 meters a sandbank appears. But be careful with kids, because there are small pebbles at the bottom. The onset of waves is stopped by breakwaters. It is better not to swim near them, they are quite old and you can cut yourself on them. These breakwaters were installed back in the days when this territory was Koenigsberg.

The beach in Malinovka is not equipped with any amenities: no showers, no toilets, no changing cabins. You won’t be able to rent a sunbed, basket or umbrella here either, they are simply not provided here. But this is compensated by cleanliness, spaciousness and the presence of trees. In addition, you can come here for free at any time convenient for you.

What to do on Malinovka beach:

The beach in Lesnoy is calm and clean; there are not many people here. The bay can be reached from boarding houses and recreation centers. There is no need to go through anything to get to the sea; the access to it is direct.

Let's talk about the beach by the sea. Here, “singing” sand is the sand on the beach, soft and pleasant, and it received this name due to its structure. If you walk along it, you can hear a whistle under your feet. The entry here is smooth and the water is clear. The beach itself is quite wide and in some places reaches 40 meters. Behind the beach there is a concrete promenade, restored last year. On the right it smoothly flows into a wooden one. It is lower and a little safer because there are no renovations going on there. You can get to the village either by public transport or by private car. One road leads to the Curonian Spit from Zelenogradsk - to Klaipeda. And on the way you need to turn towards the village of Lesnoy. If you decide to go by bus, then you need to get to the “Poselok Lesnoy” stop; from this stop it’s only a 10-minute walk to the beach.

Is it worth going

Zelenogradsk is one of the most beautiful seaside cities near Kaliningrad. From here it is a stone's throw to the famous Curonian Spit. At the Baltic resort, for relatively little money, you can have a good rest by the sea, take a walk along the picturesque promenade and go on interesting excursions.

The main disadvantage of the Baltic is the short beach season and the not too warm sea. And also, according to reviews from tourists, there are many abandoned construction sites in Zelenogradsk. Unfinished buildings and fences spoil the appearance of resort streets.

lankon: “Zelenogradsk is famous for a large number of shops selling amber products. The stone is mined in the Kaliningrad region. Unfortunately, no one is protected from fakes, and I fell for it too. Be careful when buying souvenirs, even in a decent-looking amber store. I bought a pen from one of these, and then I saw it on a Chinese website... it was very disappointing.”
