Dolgoprudny - attractions: Friendship Park, monument to the heroes of the film “Officers”. How to get to Dolgoprudny

Temple of the Savior Not Made by Hands

Considering what Dolgoprudny is famous for and the sights of the city, it is worth paying attention to the Cathedral of the Savior of the Image Not Made by Hands.
The famous Orthodox church is located in the central point of the city. The date of its foundation is considered to be 1684. It was at this time that Prince Repin decided to build a church on the territory of his own estate. Later, the temple, like the territory of the estate, became the property of the Yusupov family. To this day, the tombs of nobles from this family have been preserved here. Currently, the Temple of the Savior Not Made by Hands is an active church. The cathedral holds weekly services. There is a Sunday school for adults and children on the territory of the historical complex.

Friendship Park

The central city park is the main place of cultural pastime for city residents.
There are two independent picturesque green areas. One of them is located near Kotovsky Bay, the other is between Sportivnaya and Lavrentieva streets. Friendship Park looks like the only place close to the city center where you can enjoy leisurely walks, ride on numerous attractions, and organize outdoor recreation with the whole family. The park contains children's, sports and playgrounds. Mass events and concerts are organized here. There is an ice skating rink not far from the park.

Monument to Hungarian-Soviet Friendship

The original composition is an architectural structure 10 meters high in the form of a curved arrow. On the inside of the monument there is a bas-relief made of ceramics. Here are depicted female figures that personify the fraternal relationship between the two peoples. At the top of the monument there are sculptures of flying doves, which symbolize peace.

Notable is the fact that the monument to Hungarian-Soviet friendship is lined with pyrogranite. The material is unique in its kind and is produced only in a Hungarian town called Pécs.

Cinema "Galax"

In addition to historical and cultural monuments, city guests may be interested in the cinema in Dolgoprudny.
Clients of the establishment are given the opportunity to visit one of the four halls located in the shopping mall. The cinema in Dolgoprudny can accommodate up to 200 people at a time. Modern equipment for showing films in 3D format is installed here.

City information

Dolgoprudny with a population of 112 thousand people is located 18 km north of Moscow. Founded in 1931 and until 1938 it was called the Airship. It received its current name from the old railway station “Dolgoprudnaya”, near which in the 17th century the long “Dolgiy” pond was dug by the direct ancestors of Pushkin himself, who later became nobles and owners of this territory. Today it is an advanced city in many areas.

Dolgoprudny is home to chemical and mechanical engineering enterprises, a brick factory, a stone processing plant, as well as the pride of the national higher education system - the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. The best specialists in the field of mathematics, theoretical and applied physics studied here. Near the city there are several well-equipped cemeteries for the burial of local and residents of nearby villages: Dolgoprudnenskoye (Central and Southern), Sheremetyevskoye, Likhachevskoye and Paveltsovskoye.

Museum of Local Lore

What else is attractive about Dolgoprudny for tourists? First of all, travelers are interested in the local history museum. This is one of the few large exhibition complexes in the Moscow region. The bulk of the exhibits are represented by military installations. And this is not surprising, because at one time the city suffered significantly from artillery strikes, and many of its buildings were completely destroyed. However, there are many exhibits here that reveal the culture of the peoples who once lived in the region.

Theater "City"

The building of the central city theater invariably attracts local residents who need to organize cultural leisure.
Despite its relatively short history of existence, which is 22 years, the theater not only won the recognition of viewers from Dolgoprudny, but also became famous throughout the region and even abroad. The theater's repertoire covers a wide range of topics, from dramatic and comedic productions to children's performances. Today the number of actors here is more than 30 people. All of them have high skill and are able to intrigue any viewer who visits the theater.

House of Culture "Forward"

The local cultural center is one of the largest bases in the region where the talents of the younger generation are searched for and discovered. The establishment was founded in 1939. At that time, the house of culture had the status of the best cultural and educational facility in the Moscow region. But even today its regular visitors are more than 800 local residents who organize cultural, entertainment and public events and improve the city.

How to get to Dolgoprudny?

The simplest solution to get here from Moscow is to travel by train.
A whole lot of electric trains go to Dolgoprudny from the capital's Savelovsky station. The following directions should be taken into account: Moscow - Lobnya, Moscow - Iksha, Moscow - Dmitrov, Moscow - Dubna. Trains on the indicated routes depart from the capital's station daily at intervals of about 10 minutes. Travel time by train to Dolgoprudny will be only 30 minutes. You can also get here by bus. From Moscow to Dolgoprudny there is public transport on routes No. 546 and No. 572. Buses in the presented directions depart from the Altufyevo metro station. The final point of arrival is a stop called “Dolgoprudnaya Platform”. If you are lucky enough not to get into a traffic jam along the way, the journey will take about 50 minutes.

As for traveling by car, the most logical option is to turn away from the Moscow Ring Road towards Likhachevskoye Shosse. Next, just stick to the main road. Having reached Patsaev Avenue, you can drive directly into Dolgoprudny. Travel time when traveling by personal transport will be no more than 40 minutes, provided there are no traffic congestions.

The friendliest sculptures of Dolgoprudny

This story began in Minsk, which, after the decline of the Soviet era, was finally tired of endless monuments to athletes, pioneers and outstanding party figures. It was here, out of nowhere, that the sculptor Vladimir Zhbanov (1954-2012) appeared, who dared to sculpt not for the triumph of some global idea, but simply... for the joy of the townspeople. This is how an arrogant stranger on a bench, a touching girl under a holey umbrella, a lonely sad horse, a puny boy in his grandfather’s uniform and cap (“Little General”) and many other masterpieces of urban architecture appeared.

It's hard to believe that Zhbanov began his career as a sculptor at... 50 years old! Envious colleagues would later write to him that while they were constantly smoking in the workshops, he, Zhbanov, did not know what he was doing. But it was his work, and not their work, that was called the “Minsk miracle.” And if only Minsk! Zhbanov’s sculptures decorated a variety of cities in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. They have diversified the daily life of our city.

Or maybe five?

A detailed map of Dolgoprudny indicating all the attractions (it can be purchased at the Dolgoprudny Historical and Art Museum) tells us about four contact sculptures: “Governor’s Cart”, “Cinderella”, “John Silver”, “Lieutenant Rzhevsky”. All of them are made of bronze, the author is Vladimir Zhbanov. But to be completely precise, the coachman and his carriage with horses at the entrance to Central Park are not a single sculptural composition. The carriage appeared in Dolgoprudny in 2007 on the eve of the city’s 50th anniversary, and the coachman appeared a year later. So, there are still five Zhbanov contact sculptures in our city? The history of its name testifies to the fact that the cart should be considered separately.

The fact is that our horse-drawn carriage is an exact copy of the one that stands in Minsk on Freedom Square. There it is called “The Crew of Governor Zakhary Korneev.” Korneev is the very first governor of Minsk, who received the reins of government immediately after Belarus joined the Russian Empire in 1796. The three horses as a symbol of Rus' - Russia were sung by Gogol. But the bronze cart is pulled by only two horses. Perhaps precisely because Minsk owes Korneev the opening of two city gardens.

In Dolgoprudny, the legend of a lost coachman was born. Allegedly, he got lost on the Rogachevsky trade tract (the modern Likhachevsky highway is part of it) and left the cart for a while to check the map. The main thing is that this sculpture is adored by children, who certainly strive to climb into the carriage or onto the horses. Zhbanov’s sculptures are called contact sculptures. They are designed so that you can take a photo with them hugging or rubbing them at random. And synonyms for the word contact are sociable, friendly. Three more friendly sculptures appeared here in 2012, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the city.

Note to ladies

Who doesn’t think this girl with a huge broom near the Dolgoprudny registry office is cute? The sculpture of Cinderella in Dolgoprudny is perhaps the only one in Russia, since in other places they prefer to make monuments to her means of transportation - the pumpkin! Our Cinderella admires the shoe without letting go of the broom - a tool of labor. Apparently, she has just returned from a fairy tale to her everyday routine. The townspeople are haunted by the question: why, exactly, was it installed here? They come out from here in snow-white wedding dresses, and the girl is in a simple dress. Could this be a ray of hope for desperate women? The prince, they say, will definitely be found. We must believe! Here's another version for you. The sculpture of Cinderella stands right next to the registry office because marriage is hard work on harmonizing relationships, and not an easy walk.

Another urban legend - around the bronze four (or five) - will also be of interest to ladies. As you know, on Sobin Square at the entrance to the Vperyod Palace of Culture, Lieutenant Rzhevsky is dashingly twirling his bronze mustache. Imagine, in Rzhev there is still no monument to this dashing hussar, joker and gambler, but in Dolgoprudny there is. There is an urban legend that if a woman touches a hussar's mustache, her husband will become a handsome mustachioer. And if she sits on the bronze bench next to him, then... she will get pregnant faster.

Wish chest

The pirate Silver, standing at the entrance to the City Theater, has a chafed palm. But you need to be careful to understand that it is not the handshake of this sea wolf that fulfills your wishes, but... a chest nearby. There is a hole in the side where you need to place a note with a “list of dreams.” Perhaps it will come true! If you want the ringing of coins to be heard more often in your life, then maybe with such a desire - Silver is more at the address than Santa Claus?

Robert Stevenson's story "Treasure Island", which gave us this colorful one-legged robber, is very popular with children. It is possible that Silver's sculpture brings good luck to the wonderful children's productions of the City Theater. With such a sculpture, God himself ordered the pirate play “Jolly Roger” to be staged, which thundered at the “Dolgoprudnenskaya Autumn” festival in 2022.

The Dolgoprudny contact sculptures became an epitaph to the work of Vladimir Ivanovich... The sculptor Zhbanov was no longer alive by the time Silver, Cinderella and Rzhevsky were installed in our country.
