Monument to the city builders

Monument to Alexander Kolgatin

A native of Kamyshin, Alexander Kolgatin was a senior lieutenant in the Russian army, at the turn of the century he fought in the North Caucasus during the Chechen campaign, and commanded an engineer platoon.

At the end of February 2000, he showed courage in battles, being seriously wounded, and managed to stop the militants by detonating mines. Kolgatin’s feat found a response in the hearts of Russians. He was awarded the title of Hero of Russia, and in 2015 a monument was erected to him in his homeland.

Memorial plaque to Evgeny Martynov

In 1997, on an unremarkable wooden house on the street. A memorial plaque appeared for oil workers. It was here that composer and singer Evgeny Martynov was born and spent the first three years of his life.

Monument to Komsomol volunteers

In the park of culture and recreation there is a granite stele, consisting of two parts. At its foot is a bas-relief of a human face and the number 1942 - the year of the Great Patriotic War, a landmark battle for the region. This is a monument to those for whom the park is named. Thick slabs of quartz sandstone form walls that are very steep in some places. “Kamyshin Ears” annually attracts a large number of scientists to these places, because on the fragments of various shapes located at the base of the mountains there are imprints of plants that grew in ancient times. A plant has been found that, according to botanists and geologists, does not exist anywhere else in the world. It was given a name - Kamyshin magnolia.

St. Nicholas Cathedral

In the 17th century, a plague epidemic raged everywhere. This is how a large city cemetery appeared in Kamyshino, where the townspeople who died from this disease were buried. The cathedral was built on the territory of this cemetery at the end of the 17th century. Two hundred years later it was rebuilt and the building was enlarged. After the revolution there was a warehouse here, but the building itself was preserved in order to continue its service later. That's what happened.

Nature Park "Shcherbakovsky"

Lovers of nature and hiking will be enchanted by Shcherbakovsky Park, which is located not far from the bustle of the city. The phenomenal nature of the park lies in the fact that in its small territory it combines several natural zones.
