There are many beautiful and remarkable places in Adler. The city’s Olympic heritage is worth a lot, and Sochi Park is a real Russian Disneyland. Thanks to the mild climatic conditions, there are many beautiful parks with lush vegetation in the vicinity of the Adler region. Confirmation of this is the Sochi Arboretum, which is definitely worth a visit. We will briefly talk about everything in order in this article.
Olympic Park
The Olympic Park was built for the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. All the necessary infrastructure for holding sporting events and comfortable recreation for visitors was built on its territory. Now all stadiums and buildings are functioning. The stadiums are still the center of sporting events, and the media center building now serves other functions. In the center there is a fountain with the Olympic torch.
There are many cafes and restaurants, shops and souvenir shops in the park. The park hosts shows, concerts and various sporting events. There are also many places where you can rent a bicycle. Next to the park there is a train station, also built for the Olympics.
- Address: Adler, Olympic Park.
Many Olympic facilities that remained after the Sochi 2014 Olympics continue to be used. They host training, competitions, and shows. Some are being dismantled. You can book a tour of the park in an electric car or take an electric scooter. But if you like to walk a lot, then you can get around everything on your own.
The Formula 1 track is also located here; you can see the track itself and the stands next to the Olympic venues.
In the evenings, all objects are illuminated. The center of attraction is the singing fountain “Olympic Flame Bowl” on Medalnaya Square. The musical accompaniment changes depending on the day of the week. It is better to look at the repertoire and schedule in advance on the official website. The fountain is periodically closed for maintenance, which lasts several days.
It is better to watch the show from a pedestrian bridge, as if a little from above, in order to appreciate all the visual effects (for example, stars sparkling in the water). The Olympic Park has interesting museums, for example, Nikola Tesla, Leonardo, ancient animals, a dinosaur exhibition, and a car museum. Next door is Sochi Park with its breathtaking rides and fabulous hotels.
Throughout Adler you can find symbols of the Olympics and the World Cup.
Canyons and caves
Psaho Canyon
Briefly and subjectively: one of the coolest places in the greater Sochi. Psakho is an ancient river that carved its path through stones. There is a fragment of the river where it flows in a narrow gorge among the rocks, and around there is a beautiful forest of various rare species. Ancient ferns and moss growing on trees and rocks create a special atmosphere. And the timid rays of the sun breaking through the densely growing tall trees turn these places into the setting of some kind of science fiction film. All this is difficult to describe, it needs to be seen. And not in a photograph, but with your eyes.
Another advantage of the Psakho Canyon is the grove of Colchis boxwood. Boxwood is a very ancient and rare plant, which was almost completely destroyed due to the Olympics. By mistake, a pest was brought from Italy, which destroyed trees almost throughout the Caucasus, and this type of boxwood is on the verge of complete destruction. The harmful caterpillar destroyed even the largest forest - the Yew-Boxwood Grove
. Fully. But so far the voracious pest has not reached Psakho Canyon.
There is also a second part in the Psakho Canyon - a place where the river used to flow, but changed its course. It's called a dry canyon. This is a narrow gorge abandoned by water and overgrown with plants. The place is quite beautiful.

Fairytale Canyon
We won’t describe it for a long time. It is located in a hard-to-reach place, requires a pass from the border guards, there are no landmarks, it is far from civilization, it is difficult to find the road. In short, there is a cool place, but you are unlikely to get there. At least without the local Ivan Susanin.

Dzykhrinskoye Gorge
A beautiful gorge with rich fauna, blackjack and boxwood. In addition, there is a lot of rare beech, soft moss and vines. The gorge is not very long - a little more than a kilometer. Unlike many natural places in Sochi, the Dzykhrinskoye Gorge can be visited for free

Akhshtyrskaya cave
This cave is the oldest known human home in Sochi and the site of an important historical discovery.
Cro-Magnons lived here 70,000 years ago, then bears, and then Cro-Magnons. Before scientists established that the Cro-Magnons lived in a cave, it was believed that they had never lived in the Caucasus. The cave itself is small. There is a large hall and several small ones. At the very beginning, the ceiling of the cave is so low that you have to bend down a lot. Local guides “addressed” a completely stupid myth to this place. We talked about this in more detail in the article about the Akhshtyrskaya Cave
.

Not all of the examples on display are directly related to the competition, although the legendary De Lorian is among the exhibits. Adler Park of Culture and Leisure
Romashek Street, 1
Adler Culture and Recreation Park is located in the Central Microdistrict of Adler at the intersection of Lenin and Romashek streets. You can get here from public transport stops such as “Vzletnaya”, “RUDN University”, “Sportbaza” and “Yuzhnoe Vzmorye”. There are many buses through the center of Adler from any part of Sirius, Khosta or Adler, so finding this Amusement Park will not be difficult.
Adler Central Park of Culture and Culture is located near the Embankment
This amusement park, of course, is not a competitor to Sochi Park. There are more primitive and familiar attractions here, but the prices here are many times more affordable than in Sochi Park, and besides, entrance to the park is absolutely free, you only pay for the use of the attractions.
The center has been operating in Adler since 1980, and its opening was timed to coincide with the May 1st holiday. The level of its entertainment component, aimed primarily at children, has not changed significantly since then, which is why it is often called “Retro Park.” Adults here enjoy walking along shady alleys, sitting in ivy-covered gazebos, and remembering their happy childhood.
TsPKO attractions for children are very interesting and attractive
Attractions such as the Autodrom and the Ferris Wheel are in constant demand; children love to walk around the town of Alice and experience some dizziness in the Upside Down House. And it’s a lot of fun to go into the “Room of Laughter” with your parents, who here again become carefree and laughing children. There is also a popular petting zoo and outdoor exercise equipment in the park.
One of the most popular petting zoos in this region is located in the Central Park of Culture and Culture.
In addition to visiting the attractions, here you can walk for a long time through the green territory of the park itself, admiring its artificial lakes and beautifully designed landscaped corners. There are many cafes and small restaurants in the park that play live music in the evenings. By the way, in the evenings this park becomes a very popular vacation spot for local residents and visiting vacationers. After all, at this time, bright lights turn on here, multi-colored fountains look beautiful, and cheerful music sounds everywhere.
Park named after Bestuzhev-Marlinsky
There's more to see in the city center. This square was founded in 1910 in honor of the Decembrist. This is an excellent resting place for children; shade is provided by trees planted back then. Flower beds with bright flowers serve as an excellent decoration. The square is located very close to the embankment; it is convenient to take a break here, especially in a big city.

Adler Terrarium “Jungle World”
Lenina Street, 219/2 B
Not far from the Dolphinarium there is another place worth visiting - “Jungle World”. This is a terrarium with amazing reptiles and amphibians that you wouldn’t really want to meet in ordinary life. But looking at the anaconda and the Nile crocodile, the yellow python and the imperial boa constrictor, being close to them, but in unattainable safety, is very, very interesting. And not only for children.
These snakes, dangerous in nature, are so beautiful behind the glass of the terrarium
Smaller representatives of this class also live here in the form of iguanas, chameleons and other lizards. There are also toads and spiders, and turtles. And as an exclusive - monkeys, parrots, etc. Each cage is equipped with information plates with the name of the animal and its main characteristics. By the way, if your visit takes place in the afternoon, you will be able to watch the process of feeding the snakes, although on the other hand, it may be better for children not to see this. In addition, during this period quite a lot of people gather in the small area of the Terrarium, and visitors may experience some discomfort.

The territory of the terrarium is small, but you can go there
There is also a small petting zoo at the Terrarium, which children love to visit. There, children can not only pet goats and rabbits, but also feed them, as well as poultry living there. This amazing animal world can be visited all year round and every day from 10 to 21 hours. It is better to find out about prices on the official website, because this is the most variable information.
Where to go and what to see
In Adler, everyone will find something interesting for themselves. Fans of extreme recreation will find 3 popular places: Skypark and Autodrome for those who are especially daring, as well as a water park for fans of active but not too risky recreation.
The Adler region has everything for a versatile family holiday: parks, dolphinariums, a terrarium, museums and other interesting places.
Athletes and simply interested people will appreciate the power and scale of the Olympic Park, as well as all the sports and entertainment facilities located on its territory.
Skypark
Such a park exists only here, and nowhere else in Russia. It was created thanks to the idea of the famous extreme sportsman A. Hackett. The park is located on a suspension bridge in the Akhshtyr Gorge - one of the longest on the planet (its length is 439 m). Here you can not only tickle your nerves by jumping in the air, but also fly in a helicopter.
The entrance ticket is not cheap, and the attractions are paid separately. Extreme sports enthusiasts can enjoy jumping, trolleys that reach speeds of up to 120 km/h, gigantic swings and much more. There is a restaurant on site with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. Birthdays are celebrated there, children's parties and quests are held.
The safety level of the bridge is so high that, according to documentation, it can withstand icing, hurricane winds and earthquakes.
Sochi Discovery World Aquarium
The largest oceanarium has 30 huge aquariums on two floors. The total area of the complex is about 6 thousand square meters. m. Various types of fish live here, including tropical ones. Adults and children will see a shark, a stingray, and a huge turtle.
The calling card of the aquarium is a 44-meter tunnel, through which you can observe underwater life from the inside. Visitors are invited to dive into the aquarium and snorkel with its inhabitants, as well as underwater photography. Every day the complex hosts events and show programs.
In addition to aquariums, there are several ponds with carp on the territory, which you can feed by purchasing food from a special machine. The children will be delighted.
Museum of the History of the Adler District
History buffs can visit the complex, which was founded in 1989. The local history museum displays archaeological, ethnographic and historical exhibits. Both adults and children come here, and the entrance ticket is just a pittance.
The exhibition is located in a pre-revolutionary building built in 1913.
Trout farm "Adler"
Fans of industrial tourism will appreciate an excursion to a fish farm. Trout live only in clean environments, so the artesian waters flowing in this area are ideal for breeding finicky fish.
The farm has guides who talk about the varieties of trout, the intricacies of its breeding, as well as the benefits of this fish for the human body.
Children will also be interested here: they will feed the fish and admire their schools. Adults can enjoy sport fishing here. Any bus heading to Krasnaya Polyana will bring you to the farm.
In the tasting room you can try fish dishes for every taste, and in the store you can buy fresh chilled, smoked, fried or live fish, as well as caviar.
Akhshtyrskaya cave
The natural cave, created by the waters of the Mzymta River, has several large halls and many corridors. The interior space is equipped for the convenience of tourists: there are stairs and railings, signs and good lighting.
The total length of the route is relatively short - about 160 meters. But people who are interested in archeology and natural sites will find it interesting here.
The guide will tell you about archaeological finds and traces of the presence of primitive people in the caves. On the way to it there are several observation platforms that offer views of the river and mountains. The cave is located near the Trout Farm - between Adler and Krasnaya Polyana.
Southern Cultures Park
The compact, simple, but beautiful park-arboretum occupies about 19 hectares. About 5,000 different plant species grow on the territory, including very rare specimens.
Here you can see a tulip tree, an oak tree that is about 300 years old, a Chinese fan palm and other vegetation atypical for this region. The park is especially proud of its collection of roses and conifers. Lilies grow in local ponds, ducks and swans swim, which you can feed. The main pond contains fish.
The arboretum is located near Sochi-Adler airport and is open all year round. In winter there is also something to see here, the evergreens are especially beautiful.
Photography in the arboretum is free. The entrance ticket price is quite affordable: 300 rubles for adults and 120 for children 7-14 years old.
Adler market
Here you can find the most delicious fruits and vegetables, and not only tourists, but also city residents come here. Prices are quite reasonable - on par with other markets in Sochi. Vegetables and fruits are mainly imported from Turkey, Abkhazia and Kuban, but fish, cheese, and honey are locally produced. Knowledgeable people buy trout at the market, which is raised on a farm not far from here.
Here you can also buy natural spices and herbs of the highest quality, which are laid out on the counters in intricate patterns that attract attention.
Waterfall Park "Mendelikha"
Mendelikha Waterfalls Park
There are 8 waterfalls in the Rosa Khutor area. Only three of them are currently accessible for visiting, but the remaining trails are planned to be opened in the future.
Tourists will first have to climb the cable car to a height of 2320 meters, and then descend into the gorge on a chairlift. All around there is a dense forest with neat paths leading to the same waterfalls.
Visitors are offered several routes of varying difficulty. This attraction is not the most popular, but it is worth a visit. At the entrance from the park there are cafes and souvenir shops.
The park is located on the border with Abkhazia, so when going there, do not forget your documents.
Apery
The nursery operates on the basis of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, and about 4.5 thousand primates of different species live there. All sorts of research is carried out on them, medicines and vaccines are tested. Scientists working at the institute live right on the territory of the nursery, as they cannot leave their charges.
The nursery also welcomes guests who want to watch the animals. And in a local store you can buy a themed souvenir.

Adler Terrarium “Jungle World”
Next to the dolphinarium there is another place worth visiting that will be of interest to both children and adults - a large terrarium with amphibians and reptiles.
Many of the inhabitants of this complex cause fear and horror, but it is absolutely safe to observe them. In addition to frogs, crocodiles and snakes, you can find chameleons, turtles and spiders here. There are also exotic inhabitants: monkeys, parrots.
Those wishing to watch the feeding of the pets are invited to the terrarium in the afternoon. There is a small petting zoo on site that children go crazy about.

The average speed of descent from the water slide at the complex is 10 m/s. There are cameras around the perimeter of the pool that automatically take pictures of people. If you wish, you can contact the photo lab, find your photo on the descent from the slide, and print it for an additional fee.
The water park opens on June 1 and runs until the end of September. When purchasing an entrance ticket you can count on a free sun lounger. You need to take towels with you, but you cannot bring food and drinks into the territory.
Trinity-St. George Monastery
The convent was organized in 1999. In addition to the main cathedral, there are 9 temples and various administrative and economic buildings on the territory.
Excursions are available for visitors, but you can walk around the territory on your own, visiting all the operating temples. The guests are very friendly. Tourists who visited the monastery note the ideal cleanliness and well-groomed territory.
The monastery is famous for its delicious pastries, which you can buy right there.
Church of the Holy Trinity
A relatively young temple, built in the 90s. Outwardly, it looks simple, but at the same time elegant. There was also a church on this site until 1947, which was demolished and train tickets began to be sold. But already in 1993, construction of a new temple began.
The new building is very well maintained, with a beautiful surrounding area and a park. Located on Kirova Street - in the very center of Adler.
Olympic Stadium Fischt"
The stadium in the Olympic Park is considered the most grandiose building and has a height of 70 meters. It was built for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics, and the awards were also held there.
After the games ended, the stadium was refurbished for the 2018 World Cup football matches. Now the site is used for sports and other public events and can accommodate up to 45 thousand people. It may take about half an hour to walk around the entire structure.
“Fisht” with a unique design and a sliding transparent roof is especially beautiful in the evening and at night when the lights are turned on. And the spectators in the stands enjoy a panoramic view of the Caucasus Mountains.
Sochi Circuit
A unique racing complex located surrounded by Olympic venues. The Russian Grand Prix is held here, one of the Formula 1 stages.
This is not just a race track with stands in the most spectacular places. The complex has a museum, a driving school and even a racing taxi, in which you can feel like the pilot of a racing car (but it’s not cheap). The following cars are available to racing drivers: Renault Clio, Porsche Cayman and similar models.
Those who want to plunge even deeper into the world of racing can visit the local museum. The exhibition includes more than 50 cars, including Ferrari F40, DeLorean, Aston Martin DB9 and other interesting models.
The circuit has days on which drivers can drive their own cars on a modern racing track.
Sochi Automuseum
An attraction for car lovers is located in the Olympic Park. The collection of the complex includes retro cars produced in 1930-1990, that is, almost all types of transport that were available during the Soviet era.
You can see here not only cars, but also trucks, ambulances, buses and other vehicles. You can walk around the museum on a guided tour or on your own, and in the souvenir shop you can buy a model of any real exhibit exhibited in the halls of the complex.
The exhibition features cars of high ranks and top officials of the state, as well as a car made by special order of Joseph Stalin. You can take photographs in the museum for free, but those who want to take an unusual photo can, for an additional fee, put on a suit and get behind the wheel of the car they like. Also in the museum, in addition to the cars themselves, there are several stands with things from that time.
Dzykhrinskoye Gorge
A picturesque place for nature lovers is located outside the city, in the direction of Krasnaya Polyana. The waters of the Dzykhrinka River made a hole in the rocks. This canyon is the highest in the Caucasus (the height of its walls reaches 100 meters). There is very beautiful nature here and a spreading forest with different types of trees. A stream flowing down the gorge forms a waterfall.
SEC Mandarin"
A paradise for shopaholics – 9 shopping center buildings connected by passages. This is a whole street with shops, boutiques, cafes and shopping pavilions. There are fountains, photo zones, and places to relax on the territory.
The open-air complex is so huge that you could spend the whole day walking around it. Entertainment events are regularly held here, the posters of which are on the official website of the center. The area is open to the public around the clock.
The shopping center has its own beach, which can be accessed from the galleries, and a swimming pool.
Psaho Canyon
One of the most beautiful places in Adler is the Psakho Canyon. Once upon a time, during an earthquake, a huge gorge was formed here, which tourists are so eager to visit. It has two parts - dry and wet.
The first is a narrow chasm, where huge sheer cliffs rise 30 meters on either side. The “wet” part of the canyon is the banks of the Psakho River. Lianas, moss and ferns grow around all this splendor. Walking the route is not at all difficult - there are no steep ascents or descents along the way.
Adler lighthouse
The ancient lighthouse, built in 1898, is still in operation. Its height is 11 meters, and the light signal is visible at a distance of 13 miles. The southernmost Russian lighthouse is located on the border with Abkhazia.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to climb to the top of the structure - the lighthouse is closed to visitors. This is a secure facility, fenced with a concrete fence. But, despite this, taking a memorable photo against its background is not only possible, but also necessary.
Sea in Adler
The beaches in Adler are sand and pebble. Somewhere there is more sand, somewhere there is almost none. The sand is dark, which affects the color of the water. But only in Adler you will find such a beach, and it is completely free.
This is not a montage. But, of course, there is a catch. The shells are fixed in the fence on the embankment, and at a certain angle you can take such luxurious photos. This place is located behind the Adler railway station. Even if you come out of season and the sea is still cold, walking along the coast is a special pleasure and feast for the eyes. And even though you won’t be able to see the sun rising from the sea (because it rises from the direction of the city), but at dawn the soft pink colors make the picture look like watercolors.
The sea is beautiful even in bad weather. Do you want photos with birds? Feed the seagulls.
The embankment is long, with numerous cafes and shops.
You can look at the sea from above from the observation deck of the railway station - you need to climb the external stairs from the embankment.
Climate and weather
Adler is located on a flat plateau, and the city is protected from the northern winds by mountains. The climate is humid subtropical , but due to the sea breeze there is no stifling heat. There are also no sudden changes in temperature , which is very convenient for people with health problems. Winters in the city are quite mild, the air temperature in winter averages 6-8 degrees above zero.
The best time to visit this seaside resort is from June to mid-September . This is also the time of the swimming season in Adler - in the summer the city becomes a center for beach holidays. The average temperature in summer is 26.5-27 degrees, and the water warms up to 24-25 degrees Celsius.
The beaches in Adler are mostly small-pebble, but there are also sand and pebble beaches. This kind of vacation is suitable for vacationers with children - the entrance to the sea is very shallow, and the depth begins 4-6 meters from the shore.
The main city beach is equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas; vacationers have access to all types of water activities - parasailing, banana and jet ski riding, diving and surfing (there are water equipment rentals).
Adler embankment
The length of the Adler promenade is 1.5 km. Here you can visit shops, shopping centers and souvenir shops, see the sights, and relax in a luxurious spa. There are catering establishments scattered throughout the territory with a wide range of price tags - from cheap cafes to elite restaurants with signature cuisine.
Adler Embankment is a place where citizens flock to admire the sea, relax and have fun. And for tourists, this is also an excellent chance to get acquainted with the social life and culture of the area: in the evenings you can meet street artists and musicians here, and go to dance cafes. The highlight of the attraction is the Central Beach.
Address: Naberezhnaya street, Bolshoi Sochi, Krasnodar region, Russia.
Imeretinskaya embankment
The picturesque curved promenade along the beach is perfect for an evening stroll. The wide embankment is lined with paving stones and has benches and lanterns installed on it. There is also a dedicated bicycle path and bicycle parking areas. Flowers and palm trees are planted on the embankment.
Along it there are cafes and shops. Various sculptural compositions are installed on the embankment. Among them there is a map with small copies of Olympic objects, a large sundial and other art objects.
There is also a singing fountain in the evening. Various vehicles are available for rent on the embankment. The embankment ends at the border with Abkhazia.
- Address: Adler, Imereti Lowland.
Holidays with children in November
Oh-oh-oh, if you knew how many families with children in Adler in November - both old and young... An ideal environment for making new acquaintances and friends.
But if they come with older children during school holidays, then with preschoolers they spend the winter. Off-season housing is inexpensive (an apartment can be found for 25–35 thousand rubles per month), the climate is pleasant, and the shops are familiar. Add a long embankment, which is so good to walk a child in a stroller or on a scooter, a pebble beach where pebbles can be collected and not re-collected, and the sea - you get a place that compares favorably with other Russian cities.
At a minimum, there are playgrounds along the embankment for children. As a maximum and the crown of childish fun, the Sochi Park amusement park is open. You can book a hotel or apartment with a “movement” on site (like a heated swimming pool or a children’s club) and just relax, choose >>
And I want to warn you, be careful with children on the embankment. There are two zones: a pedestrian path and a bicycle path. They are not made according to the mind, you can easily confuse them or not pay attention, and end up in the path of a dense flow of bicycles, scooters and electric cars.
Southern Cultures Park
The picturesque dendrological park, founded more than a century ago, contains amazing trees, shrubs and flowers from Asia, Africa and the American continents. Visitors can admire bamboo groves, Himalayan cedars, and various varieties of roses. Small ponds on the territory add additional charm to the exotic attraction.
You can visit it at any time of the year: the evergreen plants are interesting to see even in winter, walking along the well-groomed paths of the park.
Address: Park "Southern Cultures", Gubernskaya street, Adler, Krasnodar region, Russia.

Oceanarium Sochi Discovery World Aquarium
The largest aquarium in the country, the Adler Oceanarium, is definitely worth a visit when you come to Sochi. The number of guests is off the charts, but the huge territory of the complex can easily accommodate everyone. The aquarium's exhibition includes up to 30 aquariums with all kinds of marine life.
The design of the halls, stylized to resemble the natural environment, is impressive. The highlight of the complex is an underwater tunnel with a length of 44 m: stingrays, sharks and seahorses slowly move along the sides and above the heads of guests, allowing you to immerse yourself - almost literally - in the world of underwater flora and fauna.
Address: Sochi Discovery World Aquarium, Lenina Street, Adler, Krasnodar Territory, Russia.

Almost all the attractions of Adler are open all year round, so you won’t have to refuse to visit an interesting place. The same Olympic Park with its numerous locations will delight you with all sorts of amenities, both in winter and in summer. Unless the Fountain Show is closed for the winter.
Specifically in winter it is better to visit ski resorts. And if you come to them in early spring, you can find excellent discounts. It is also worth considering that most waterfalls in the vicinity of Adler dry up in winter, so it is better to postpone visiting them until spring or summer. And it’s smarter to conquer trekking trails with climbs in the warm season.

The village of Kazachy Brod has entertainment for every taste
In the vicinity of the village of Cossack Brod, you can easily visit the famous Akhshtyrskaya cave, in which ancient people once settled, and see the ruins of an ancient Byzantine temple from the 10th-13th centuries. There are also amazing Karabelny rocks and Dzykhrinsky waterfall. In addition, there are such modern attractions as the Trout Farm and the Glassblowing Workshop. And, of course, the famous Skypark with its extreme rides and suspension bridge is of constant interest. How many days do you need for sightseeing?
Although Adler is one of the districts of Sochi, it has long become an independent resort area, which takes about a week to explore. Of course, you can walk around the Olympic Park and explore its facilities in 1 day, but temples, museums and natural beauties deserve no less attention. If you stay in Adler for at least 1 night, you will need a hotel room. There are many of them here, the most budget rooms will cost about 1000 rubles per day.
When I went to Adler, I managed to rent a room with the hostess on the second floor of a private house (Sanatornaya Street). I paid 400 rubles per day. This, of course, is not a five-star hotel, but I had a bath, toilet, kitchen and TV. In addition, the hostess of the house explained to me where it is better to go, where to save money and where it is better not to go at all. I chose a more convenient area, but I was looking for a room 2 weeks before the trip, so I had a choice. Among the advertisements, I also came across offers for 250–300 rubles per day, but the houses were located far from the sea.
