Sukko beaches - the most complete overview, marks on the map, photos, reviews, hotels nearby

This article was written by the author, who in July-August 2022 made a short trip to the cities and towns of the Black Sea.

Upon arrival in the town, the first thing that catches your eye is the situation in the village itself. It is located in the valley of the Sukko River and is surrounded on three sides by mountains and hills. Almost the entire settlement consists of small private houses dotted with vineyards. There are no crowds of drunk tourists walking on the streets, no music blaring from bars, clubs and other establishments, which is ideal for a family holiday with children.

In Sukko, compared to neighboring resort towns, there are not many beaches: 2 within the village itself and 2 outside it, not far from the Varvarovskaya Gap. All beaches of the Sukko Valley are covered with small and large pebbles, making the water in the sea crystal clear and transparent. The water temperature in July ranges from 21 to 27 degrees, you can swim from 6-7 am to 20-21 pm and not feel the cold. The air is clean, fresh, and very easy to breathe, which is most likely due to the abundance of vegetation in the village: trees, juniper thickets, flowers and, of course, vineyards.

On the Internet you can come across many reviews in which vacationers were outraged that they and their children became infected with E. coli while vacationing at Sukko resorts. The author vacationed there at the end of July and did not encounter anything like this. In addition, children from the Smena camp are often brought to the sea, and if the number of E. coli pathogens exceeded, they would not be allowed to swim in the sea.

Below is a list of beaches in the Sukko Valley that the author visited, their descriptions and impressions of the vacation.

More interesting things about the resort:

  • Is it worth coming here with children?
  • What to do and have fun in the village itself

For your convenience, we have marked all the beaches mentioned in the article on the map:

Central beach Sukko

  • 44.784521, 37.381221.

This one is the noisiest, because almost all residential sectors of the village “look out” onto it. Three rural streets will lead you here at once - the sidewalk from the famous Broadway restaurant, the northern branch of Primorskaya and the paths of the Sport DOL (a branch of Smena). The gates of hotel complexes and an amusement park face the beach. This is where you find yourself when leaving the restaurants on the Main Square and the Small Sports Arena.

Here you will find sun loungers, sun umbrellas, and the opportunity to ride a banana boat tied to a motor boat. However, this is where the entire service ends. The edge here consists of medium sized pebbles. Nearby are fragrant thickets of juniper, where a few local hotels and trading tents are hidden. The last thing worth mentioning is that the water here sparkles and remains transparent compared to more northern water areas (Varvarovsky and Malaya Anapa).

Coastal area

The beach strip is quite wide. The covering consists of large and small pebbles, sometimes turning into sand. In winter, the stones are repeatedly washed by storms and healthy sea salts are deposited on them. In this natural spa, vacationers warm up their bodies, enjoy the sound of the surf and receive a stimulating foot massage.

The swimming season here lasts from May to October. Despite its proximity to Anapa, Sukko has a more humid climate and less windy weather. The water temperature in July is +…+27 ⁰С. In August, the sea along the entire coast warms up well, but on the Central Beach, due to the sharp depth, it is usually 2-3 degrees cooler, which is very important on a stifling hot afternoon.

Another feature of Sukko beach is the absence of large waves. This is explained by the fact that the mountains located along the edges of the recreation area act as natural breakwaters.

You need to be careful here with small children. The entrance to the sea is not too sharp, but literally three meters from the shore it is already deep. The water is clean, the bottom is free of algae and sea urchins, it is clearly visible at a depth of several meters. Near the beach, a small mountain river, Sukko, flows into the sea, originating in the gorge of the Navagirsky ridge.

For lovers of snorkeling, diving and spearfishing, this is the right place. The sea depth in this area is sufficient for scuba diving. By the way, you can often spot frolicking dolphins off the coast of the Sukko Valley.

Beach of the Smena camp

  • 44.783865, 37.381834.

The end of the elongated swimming area in the south is considered to be the shore where vacationers from the specified VDC splash. All this is 200 meters from the southern dead end of the street. Primorskaya. The place is viewed from above - from Friendship Park, but going down from it will be problematic, the only way is the mentioned street and the shore.

The peculiarity of the territory is that it is the property of a children's center. Traveling here is fraught with the fact that you will only be able to return to the road to Anapa along the sea - through the slope where the buildings stand, security will not let you through. The slope here, although not shallow, is the most gentle (that’s why a pioneer camp was once built at the top).

The surface of the coast is medium pebble, there are no sun loungers. Voditsa is the cleanest of the entire list of beaches in Sukko. The fact is that this place, being part of the institution, is subject to thorough cleaning (thanks to the requirements of the sanitary inspection). During schoolchildren's swim, strangers are often removed from the area - they will have to be stationed either further south or return to the Central Coast.

The Smena beach, or rather its end, after a hundred meters leads us to Lake Zmeinoy, where the Bolshoy Utrish nature reserve begins. It is precisely at this hundred-meter distance that you need to stand with tents. The nudists took this circumstance into account.

Another brand of bathing recreation is the amazing air emanating from the mountain forest located above, consisting of thickets of Colchis pine and juniper. From the shore you can climb up the path - to photograph the beach or walk through the fragrant thicket.

We had a great vacation by the sea in Sukko at the beginning of August! We often remember our visit to the show “African Village”. It was interesting and informative for us to learn the customs and rituals of African tribes. The program numbers are arranged logically, artistic abilities are at a high level. We are grateful for a lot of bright emotions and impressions. Everything is great!!!

Varvarovskaya Shchel Beach

  • 44.798530, 37.369096.

This section of the coastal edge is the northernmost of the mentioned trinity. It begins at the mouth of the Shingar River. Based on the relief and the name of the nearby village, this part of the ridge was called Varvarovskaya Shchelya. Stretches from Varvarovka to Central.

This recreation opens up the most picturesque views of the canyon facing the sea. Another highlight is the rare relict trees that are easy to spot on the slopes of the local mountains. Pebbles are relatively medium in size. Entry into the water is comfortable, but quite deep. The sea here is clean - the location is quite uncrowded. But here they rent catamarans and jet skis. Changing rooms are available.

If you choose a holiday destination

Anyone who has not yet decided where to go during their summer vacation should pay attention to the Sukko Valley. This is practically the only place on the entire Black Sea coast of Russia where you can breathe healthy and clean air, saturated with essential oils of pine, thuja, fir and juniper, as well as iodine ions. The valley, which is formed by the slopes of the Semisamsky and Navagirsky ridges, covered with green forests, amazes vacationers with its splendor.

The landscape that can be seen from the sea cannot but arouse admiration. This is an area that is framed by steep cliffs, reaching 50 meters in height in some places. Having climbed one of them, many vacationers take pictures of Sukko, photos of the village and the beach. Reviews from those who have visited these foothills indicate that the view that opens up literally amazes travelers with its beauty.

Scientists have established that in ancient times a gigantic landslide occurred in the Sukko Valley. As a result, a cape was formed, which can be admired from above. It is the only one on the entire Black Sea coast of this origin. Today, the Sukko Valley is a natural monument, where you can see relict plants that have come down to us from the pre-glacial period. What else is remarkable about this area? Only here nature lovers can stroll through a grove of swamp cypresses listed in the Red Book.

Bugaz Spit

This beach is the only place where it is not crowded, although this area belongs to the suburb of Vityazevo. The coastline goes to the intersection of Anapa and Temryuk districts. In these areas there are camps, boarding houses, surfers, and small hotels.

The beach area is strewn with sand. The bottom of the sea is flat. Stanitsa Blagoveshchenskaya is a settlement located nearby. It is the closest point to this beach.

The part of the Bugaz Spit, which is closer to the settlement, belongs to the Kasandra boarding house. The area is equipped with sun loungers and canopies. If you look into the distance, you can see a spit called Golenkaya. Sailboats regularly sail along it. Tent camps are set up on the shore.

Su-Psekh and descent to the sea

So, the city beaches of the high coast of Anapa from the south smoothly flow into the pebble coast of the village of Su-Psekh. An amazing structure also descends here - a staircase of 800 steps, along which you can overcome the steep descent to the sea. Read about the sights of the village and recreation in it here.

There is no beach in Supsekha due to the presence of a steep rocky crumbling shore and sharp stones covering it, the same stones at the entrance to the water. This is what the coast looks like with these stones:

However, there are always fans of extreme swimming here too. And those who simply want to explore the uniquely beautiful cliff, breathe in the sea air, watch local sailors fishing from boats and practice going up and down the stairs running down. We read about the sights of Su-Psekh and look at the photos at the link: . Then the beaches of Sukko begin.

The beaches of Sukko and Bolshoi Utrish with medium-sized sea pebbles, a good sandy bottom of normal depth and clean water are a favorite vacation spot for many Anapa residents and resort guests.

However, getting to these beaches from the city is far and tiring, so if you like the nature of the places of Sukko and Utrish, settle in these villages; the choice of housing is huge: rooms, boarding houses, mini-hotels are always waiting for you at very reasonable prices. At the height of the season (July 2016) from 500 rubles/day per person - less than in Anapa itself.

Getting to both beaches from the city by public transport is not difficult: bus No. 109 will take you there in about 30 minutes. A stop at the Varvarovskaya Shchel beach is available upon request; those who take the 109 should take note and warn the bus driver.

Under a steep driveway

This wild beach was named after the entrance. These places can be reached by going down a steep road along the park called “Nut Grove”. This descent, thirty meters long, is dangerous in some places.

The local sea is transparent. The beach area is made of coarse pebbles, and there are large stones under the water. The silence of the holiday and the purity of the sea water will overshadow the danger of descent.
