Not everyone can notice or see something that would make a good photo. The word “photo” comes to us from the Greek language. And it is no coincidence that it means “the art of capturing objects on paper using light.” A unique photograph is made through the eyes of the artist, his heart.
Photographers of Bryansk
Notable people of the distant past. Their faces come to life before us in faded photographs. Ancient buildings, monasteries, city streets, squares are a kind of chronicle of those distant years. The photographs introduce us to the architecture and monuments of the past. The archives and museums of Bryansk contain many old photographs. ► Masters of photo chronicles of the city of Bryansk and the Bryansk region.

Gardens and parks of Bryansk
Yunost Park
This cozy and charming park is located in the center of Volodarsky district. It is located at the intersection of two streets: Pushkin and Nikitinskaya. This is a place where you can relax with the whole family. There is a fountain, attractions, and places to play. The park itself is simply surrounded by greenery. Very beautiful sculptures, especially in the shape of mushrooms, will delight both adults and children. Since 2014, improvements have been made to the park. Therefore, it has become more functional and in demand. In winter, the skating rink is filled here, so you can relax at Yunost at any time of the year.
"May" park
This is one of the favorite places for residents of the Bezhitsa region. It is full of fountains, attractions, and in the summer cafes open near the park. A lot of games for children. There is a stage where local artists perform. Near the park there is the BMZ House of Culture, as well as the Pobeda cinema, and there are restaurants. By going here, you can arrange a varied holiday for the whole day. The park is very green, it’s nice to even just walk around it with the whole family.
Forest Sheds Square
The memorial has great historical value. It was created to honor the memory of all soldiers, war heroes, tortured and killed by the Nazis. The square appeared in 2000 in the Sovetsky district, along with a monument reminiscent of the cost of the war. The memorial got its name “Forest Sheds” because there used to be a weapons depot right here in the pine trees.
Park named after A.S. Pushkin
It found its beginning in the 19th century. This was one of the only places in the working-class city where everything was surrounded by fresh greenery. Previously, the park was combined with Maysky. Here, of course, there is a graceful monument to one of the greatest Russian writers. The park is very green, it has alleys, benches, and several playgrounds have been built for children. A very cozy place, ideal for a relaxing holiday at any time of the year.
Botanical Garden named after. B. V. Grozdova
This is one of the assets of Bryansk Engineering and Technology University. The purpose of the garden is to preserve and study various plants from all corners of the globe. This place offers excursions where you can admire the beauty of nature. The year of foundation is 1944. It was during this period that interest in scientific activities concerning the plant world arose. Many students undergo internships here, helping to grow new types of flowers, shrubs and herbs.

In 1912, the first two football teams appeared - “Nadezhda” and “Polza”, and then others. The competitions took place on a football field built near the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bezhitsa, and representatives of the church did not object to such a neighborhood, because competitions have always attracted a lot of people.

The work of Bryansk photographer Tamara Tsiliakus “Morning of a small town” was selected by the Italian gallery LooseArt for participation in the international exhibition “Suburbs” (Outskirts). Of the 1127 works sent to Rome via the Internet, as we were told, only 80 were selected for the exhibition. It will be held in Rome October 15-24, 2022. Visitors will see the winter view from Pokrovskaya Mountain with snowdrifts, Gorno-Nikolskaya Church and small houses, well known to Bryansk residents.
Looking at the photograph, we thought, what does it remind us of? Certainly! Dutchman Pieter Bruegel ("Hunters in the Snow") in the Bryansk edition! And so many photographers wandered around Pokrovskaya Mountain, but only Tamara was able to see our dear city THIS way! Our congratulations!

Ancient monasteries of Bryansk
Petro-Paul Monastery
It is one of the most ancient places in the region for all Orthodox Christians. It was founded in 1275. Unfortunately, the buildings of those times could not survive. The oldest building is considered to be the Vvedenskaya Church, built in the 18th century. The peculiarity of the temple is that until 1830 it was exclusively for men. Later it closed and three years later opened its doors again to believers, but as a convent. This sacred place had to endure a lot. It was attacked by enemies, there was not enough money to maintain it, and changes occurred with the change of power. But to this day the monastery continues to live and remains a place of great value for Orthodox people.
Svensky Monastery
Founded in 1288, the monastery has become one of the most revered monasteries, which is still open to believers. This holy place is the most famous in the Bryansk region. The Orthodox people have long revered it and come here to pray, admire the beautiful architectural ensembles, or simply relax in the peaceful beauty of nature. The monastery is located on the right bank of the Desna River. It stands high, so it offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The monastery got its name because the temple was located opposite the mouth of the Sven River. The monastery amazes with its beauty and grandeur. But women can go there with their heads covered and in a long skirt. Men are supposed to wear long trousers. The Svensk Fair is also associated with the Svensky Monastery. It is held annually on its territory, gathering a bunch of visitors.
