Description:
- In an azure field, on a golden knotted log floating on silver waves, a rising griffin of the same metal with scarlet eyes and a tongue, having all four paws like a lion’s and with black claws; The griffin rules with the help of a golden pole, holding it with its front paws.

- Approved by the decision of the City Duma of December 30, 2007 (No. 197).
- The griffin was taken from the coat of arms of the Romanov dynasty: the lands along the Unzha River in the 16th century belonged to the brother of Ivan the Terrible’s wife Anastasia Romanovna, in the 17th century Manturovo was transferred to the Palace Department. The composition of the coat of arms symbolizes the historically established timber processing industry.

- The flag of the urban district of the city of Manturovo is a rectangular blue panel with a width to length ratio of 2:3, reproducing the composition of the city’s coat of arms: carrying a white wavy stripe along the lower edge, the width of which is 2/15 of the width of the panel, and close to the stripe - yellow with red, black and orange details depict a griffin floating on a log

Historical sketch
It arose as a village about the railway. Manturovo station (opened in 1906), name - after the village of Manturovo (first mentioned in 1617). The oikonym is formed from the anthroponym: Mantur, Manturov - a number of persons of the 15th-16th centuries. in Novgorod, Pereyaslavl, Kashin.
Workers' village of Manturovo since July 18, 1927. Since 1958, a city.
The working settlement of Yurovsky (PGT since 1935, 2.5 thousand inhabitants, 1939) became part of the city (in 1958).

The city of Manturovo is located in the central part of the East European (Russian) Plain. The general character of the relief is a hilly plain, with an absolute elevation of 150 m. The city is located on a large tributary of the Volga River - the Unzha River.
The climate of the region is moderate continental. The average annual air temperature is 2.7°C; absolute maximum air temperature: 38.9°C; absolute minimum air temperature: −53.5°C; average air temperature in January: −12.7°C; average air temperature in July: 18.5°C. On average, 593 mm of precipitation falls per year, the maximum occurs in summer, the minimum in winter. The amount of precipitation prevails over evaporation. Snow cover lasts 150-155 days. The average date of appearance of snow cover is the end of October, the average date of destruction of the snow cover is mid-April, its thickness ranges from 55 to 80 cm. The start time of freeze-up is the beginning of November, the time of breaking up is the end of March, the beginning of April. The ice thickness reaches 60 cm by the end of winter. Ice drift lasts 3-6 days. The spring flood begins in mid-April, the height of the water level rises to 2–9 m, and the flood lasts 8–20 days. In summer, the predominant wind direction is northwest, with an average wind speed of 4.0 m/s. The environmental situation in the region as a whole is characterized as relatively favorable.

Currently, there are 11 large and medium-sized industrial enterprises in the city.
The largest and city-forming enterprise is NAO SVEZA Manturovo (until 2015 Manturovo Plywood Mill[30]), which produces plywood. The products of this enterprise are exported to many countries around the world. Since 2007, it has been part of a group of plywood industry enterprises.

Chemical and medical industry enterprises - Ingakamf LLC, Apressin LLC, Medkompress+ LLC (located on the territory of the former BCP).
Officially, there is also Tractor Repair Plant LLC in the city, but in fact it is not engaged in core activities. In 2012, the company was reorganized from an OJSC to an LLC, but currently this legal entity is also in a pre-bankruptcy state.
Food industry enterprises - JSC Kologriv-M, LLC Manturovo Meat Processing Plant, LLC Manturovo Cheese-Making Plant.
Attracting investments worth $4 million made it possible to open JSC Kologriv-M in Manturovo. Here, medicinal table mineral water “Tsarskaya” was produced, which was awarded high awards and diplomas from all-Russian and regional exhibitions. The city produced two more types of high-quality mineral water: “Manturovskaya” (bread factory) and “Kostromskaya Snegurochka” (Tsarskaya Voda LLC). According to reviews from specialists and consumers, the taste qualities of Mantura mineral waters are not inferior to Caucasian springs. Currently, all three mineral water production lines are under reconstruction and modernization.
Manturovo Cheese Factory LLC, founded in 1963, produces natural rennet cheeses under the Bogovarovo brand. Kostroma cheese factories.
Small and medium-sized businesses received further development. There are 22 sawmills and car repair service centers. The banking sector is represented by Sberbank, Sovcombank, Association Bank, and a branch of Selkhozbank.
The architectural appearance of the city of Manturovo is being updated by newly built shops, shopping and entertainment and cultural centers by entrepreneurs.
There are 160 small businesses and 742 individual entrepreneurs operating in the city. There are 147 stationary stores, 4 wholesale centers, and 19 public catering establishments in the city[6].
