Brest is an ancient city that remembers grandiose historical events. The main attraction here is undoubtedly the fortress, built in the 19th century and withstood the onslaught of fascist invaders in the summer of 1941. But where to go with children in Brest? Are there places in this city that are of interest to young tourists?
"Venice"

– The first establishment on my list is dear, even a little old. “Venice” has the best pizza, good cuisine, and prices are already equal. In addition, this is apparently the only place in the city where waitresses are sewn new uniforms for each subsequent season - winter and summer.
I've been going there for more than 10 years, some of the employees have been working there for the same amount of time. The establishment is owned by the Italian Bruno - he once set the tone for the decoration: tablecloths, a little deliberate elegance, walls painted with landscapes and streets. And, of course, divine pizza – it truly is the best in the country.

I would recommend getting the “Derevenskaya” pizza here - for those who are not afraid of salt, pickles and garlic. Salad “Riviera” with trout, shrimp and grapes is simple, understandable, satisfying and not boring. But I don’t recommend coffee at Venice – it’s always urine in a nice mug.
The establishment has a separate children's room and a good area if you decide to sit on the terrace. Plus, this is one of the few places in the city that is open until midnight.
Climbing wall for children in Brest

Some of the unusual things are beer from their brewery near Brest for 13 litar, and in the summer - cider, good cuisine (but “more expensive”), work until 2 a.m. on weekdays and until 4 a.m. on weekends, free parties and experiments. Either they have IT meetings during lunch, or they draw with wine, or Shuma performs for free. If you hang out somewhere and “buzz”, then anyway you go to the “Cow”.
Here I would advise you to definitely try beer from the tap or a Moscow Mule cocktail on the Jaeger, expensive burgers and Caesar - very elegant and beautiful, and not a dump in a plate.

The game of paintball is not only enjoyed by boys. Girls can also be strategists and sharp shooters. It’s worth trying to organize a team game on a weekend or on the occasion of a holiday, and your children will love to have fun and be active. This is an excellent alternative to computer shooters.

"Duner"

After “Cow” everyone meets at “Duner” - a seedy, shabby place where music videos or football are shown on TV. But if you ask, they can change the channel. This is the only eatery that is open until “really late” and feeds all the night partygoers. There is no special atmosphere there, just a tradition and an opportunity to continue the party. I usually only get duner here and always ask to replace the red sauce with white. I don’t know who this will help, but now my friends are repeating me.
“Duner” - bow: everyone there is always tortured at night, as if they were carrying a cross to feed the night owls.

The main attraction for which tourists come to Brest is the Brest Fortress. This is a memorial complex where the military spirit is felt from the entrance. On the territory you can hear the sounds of bombing, the howl of planes and chimes, preceding the announcement of the start of the attack on the USSR.

In general, this place is popular with locals when they need to meet and discuss work issues. As far as I know, the guys abandoned the Surf Coffee franchise, changed the name and lowered all prices.
Sovetskaya Street
After visiting the fortress territory, it is worth getting acquainted with the modern culture of the city and taking a walk along the pedestrian Sovetskaya Street. This is a Brest piece of Europe.
There is the sculpture “Old Town”, the monument to the Millennium of Brest, many souvenir shops, cozy coffee shops and the nightly ritual of lighting lanterns by a real lamplighter.
And if you turn from Sovetskaya Street to 17 September Street, you can stumble upon Polish signs preserved from the times when Brest was part of Poland.
Pancake shop near the “collective farm market”

This is the ugliest place in this collection, it’s just not good at all. But the time to promote it has come. The legendary pancake shop near the “collective farm market” is the one closest to the doors. I've been eating there since my first year and still do (and that's almost 15 years). This is hit content: the best pancakes, the world market leader - tasty, honest, inexpensive and fast.
A completely homeless looking pancake house, a typical eatery: men from the bookmaker's office standing for coffee, students, saleswomen from the stalls next door and half the city in line.
Here you need to take the “tradition”: crabs, mayonnaise, cucumbers, corn, ham, cheese - in a rich way on payday. It’s really tasty, and women over the years of dating can give you a promissory note.
If someone is poor, do not forget to remove cheese from the additives. Issue price: from 2.2 rubles. up to 4.5 rub.
Railway Museum
The unusual exhibition opened in 2002. The Museum of Railway Equipment is located at: Masherova Street, building 2. Most of the exhibits presented here are operational. Moreover, they are often used in filming. One of these trains is present in an episode of the military drama “Brest Fortress”.
The cost of a ticket to the Museum of Railway Equipment in Russian currency is approximately 100 rubles.
Here you can see trains that were produced more than half a century ago. The open-air museum occupies an area of 29 square meters. There are over sixty exhibits on three routes. There are passenger trains, various diesel locomotives, and freight cars.
The child will be able to climb a high ladder, touch the parts of a real train, and sit in the driver’s cabin. For those who are concerned about where to go with children in Brest, experienced tourists strongly recommend visiting this museum first.

At Prohodnoy Dvor it’s ideal both in the morning - coffee + croissants, which are baked in front of you (classic with salmon and arugula or camemabre and raspberries), and in the evening - just swap coffee for wine.

Answering the question about where to go in Brest, anyone who has been to this ancient city will, of course, name famous historical monuments. First of all, the aforementioned fortress.
The fortified citadel was built in the first half of the 19th century. In June 1941, Soviet soldiers and officers showed extraordinary heroism in an unequal battle. In 1965, this landmark received the status of a hero fortress.
When deciding where to go in Brest for the weekend, even an entertaining excursion should include a visit to monuments dedicated to the heroes of the Second World War. Not only the Brest Fortress, but also the monuments “Courage” and “Thirst”. The first is located in Ceremonial Square. The second is on the territory of the Brest Fortress. Here, near the citadel, is St. Nicholas Cathedral.
The 5th Fort Museum was opened in 2000. The exhibition is dedicated to the history of the Brest Fortress. The Defense Museum displays exhibits related to the events of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War. “Berestye” presents archaeological finds discovered on the site of an ancient settlement.

Alley of forged lanterns
This is a favorite place for residents and guests of Brest. Where to go on a hot summer day? Anyone will answer that it’s to the Alley of Forged Lanterns, located on Gogol Street.
This attraction appeared relatively recently - in 2013. It is better to walk along the alley during the daytime. The lanterns, which are real works of art, illuminate it, but weakly. The most interesting attraction of the alley is a composition depicting a fireman trying to put out a fire.
Some of the forged figures are dedicated to the work of Nikolai Gogol. It is no coincidence that the alley is located on a street named after the great Russian writer.
