Azov Historical-Archaeological and Paleontological Museum

I have long been planning to write a post about one of the most, in my opinion, most interesting museums not only in the Rostov region, but at least in all of Russia - the Azov Museum of Local Lore. Finally the day has come.

In general, I'm not much of a fan of visiting museums. “What can attract a local history museum? They are all similar to one another. I visited one and that’s enough to understand the culture of the whole region,” I thought so, and you probably think so too. Yes, partly, this is true.

All that remains is to choose the one that can fully introduce you to this culture. In the Rostov region, such a “giant” is the Azov Museum, the unique exhibition of which will be discussed in this post.

The Azov Museum of Local Lore is located in the center of the city of Azov at the intersection of Petrovsky Boulevard with the street. Moscow in a building that is an architectural monument of the 19th century. The museum's exposition is housed in 22 exhibition halls. The ticket to the complex is separate and consists of two. One gives you the right to get acquainted with the main exhibition about the history of the Don from time immemorial to the present day, the second will allow you to visit a unique exhibition called “Treasures of the Nomads of Eurasia,” representing the richest collection of Sarmatian gold. The ticket price can be checked on the official website of the Azov Museum-Reserve.

I would immediately like to advise that if you come to Azov for the first time, be sure to visit both exhibitions, you will not regret it! Well, first things first.

Traces of earthly memory

Literally crossing the threshold, your mouth opens in admiration and definitely won’t close again for the next two to three hours.
