Story
In the old days, Scythians, Sarmatians, and Pechenegs moved across the endless expanses of the steppe, the Khazars traded, and the Polovtsians mercilessly plundered settlements and numerous caravans. Already in the 13th century, Batu’s hordes reigned supreme here.
In the first half of the 18th century, when this territory completely became part of Russia, active salt mining began here. Little Russians were brought in to transport it. Almost the entire southern part of Russia was supplied with this salt. Its production was interrupted by the construction of the railway at the beginning of the 20th century. German settlers were invited here to carry out the work.
All work on the construction of the railway was completed in 1907. At that time, the village included several mills, 2 grocery stores, an inn and a tavern.
In the early twenties of the last century, the Pallasovsky district was created by government decree.
During the Second World War, Palassovka was in close proximity to the site of hostilities.
In the post-war period, rapid economic development began here, as a result of which the village acquired the status of a large agricultural center. In the early fifties, the first virgin lands arrived here. By the early sixties, more than 200 thousand hectares of virgin land had already been plowed. Livestock farming showed brilliant results.
At the end of the sixties, the village began to be called the city of Pallasovka. Industrial production is growing at a rapid pace. A bakery, a dairy, several meat processing plants, and many construction organizations are opening.
In a later period, construction of an advanced irrigation system began, which attracted a huge number of young people. In addition, foreign builders from Czechoslovakia arrive here to build several industrial enterprises.
Currently, the city includes several districts:
- Center. Here is the city and district administration, many shops and retail outlets, museums and other infrastructure facilities. In the most honorable place there is a monument to Pallas.
- Jackdaws. This is the largest area founded at one time by German settlers. There are several modern residential complexes, a school, and other buildings here.
– Third youth brigade. It is an urban outskirts, but it is home to the largest number of residents. There is a school and several industrial enterprises.
- Sixth quarter. It is often called the "second center". It includes many residential high-rise buildings, a military camp, several kindergartens and other infrastructure facilities.
- Zalineiny district. It conventionally divides the city into southern and northern parts. There is a grain elevator and a school in this area.
- Zarechny district. This is the most picturesque part of the city. The tax authorities, a stadium, a spacious House of Culture and several kindergartens are located here.
- Dachas. In fact, that's just what it's called. This area is a full-fledged residential part of the city.

The territory of the city is 3519.1 hectares, the population is 16510 people.
Not so long ago, the regional center Pallasovka was more often called a station, since the history of the city is directly related to the construction of the Astrakhan railway line. The station was named after the famous traveler and naturalist Peter Simon Pallas, who studied the Volga region in the 18th century simultaneously with S. Gmelin and I. Lepekhin. The nearby railway stations Pallasovka, Gmelinka and Lepekhinka were named in memory of the academicians of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences.
This is how the name Pallasovka first appeared on a geographical map. — The conclusions of the great scientist about the prospects for using the natural resources of the Volga region are formulated as a verdict: the land is so saline and barren that it is unsuitable for either farming or grazing. Life has refuted the academician’s gloomy assumptions. A modern city has been built in a deserted semi-desert, on the station square of which stands a sculptural monument to P.S. Pallas. Modern Pallasovka is a large center of agricultural production for the steppe Trans-Volga region. In 1967, the workers' settlement of Pallasovka was transformed into a city.
The main city-forming enterprises are divisions of JSC Russian Railways of the Volga Railway, a gas compressor station, and agricultural products processing enterprises.
The following are registered and operating in the city:
-industrial enterprises
