26 attractions of Taman recommended for visiting

“The beach is right behind the gate!”, “Hurray, the sea!” - such phrases can be read on tourism forums glorifying the most famous village of the Taman Peninsula. This is what we will talk about. The embankment that borders the village has the most vivid reviews from vacationers, because it is from here that you get to the famous bathing areas. The beaches of Taman (wild and the best in terms of infrastructure) are an excellent opportunity to combine the enjoyment of the sun, sea, sand, and Taman Cossack hospitality. We offer their descriptions with photos to once again verify this.

When to go on vacation to Taman

The first vacationers come to the Taman Peninsula in May. In spring it is warm on the coast and everything is in bloom. At the end of the month, the air warms up to +20…+22°С, and the sea to +17…+19°С. According to reviews, a real beach holiday in Taman begins in the first ten days of June, when the sea water temperature reaches +20...+21°C. The resort's population is increasing and housing prices are rising.

The heat begins in July and lasts until mid-August. The average daytime temperature reaches +27…+28°С. Almost every day the thermometer exceeds +30°C. Where do you escape the heat? Of course, at sea! The water is heated to +25...+26°C - a real paradise for everyone who loves to swim!

In summer and early autumn, rains are rare in Taman. The velvet season lasts until the beginning of October. Then the sea water cools to +16°C. It’s already cold to swim, but relaxing next to the sea is good. The last tourists leave the village at the end of October.

Advice . If you do not tolerate hot weather well, come on vacation to Taman in June or September.

Wild beaches of Taman

Unlike those already mentioned, this beach is located east of the village. We are talking about a section of the coast along which you can get to the estuary near the village of Primorsky. The path starts from the exit from the Krasnodar highway (in the area of the agricultural canal and vineyards).

The “resort” recreation is not equipped with anything, nevertheless, people swim here, and in large numbers. The place is separated from the residential part of the village by several fields.

The shore includes a tiny salt lake - Markitanskoye. Therefore, many people perceive the beach as a health resort (the mud of the lake is very good for health). The coastal edge is incredibly narrow - no more than 1-1.5 meters wide.

Food prices in Taman

There are restaurants, cafes and snack bars in Taman. As with any resort, prices depend on the level of service and distance from the sea. The average bill in a cafe is 300-500 rubles, and in restaurants - 800-1000 rubles. Vacationers like the inexpensive cafe “Prichal” on Schmidt Street. There is a good selection of food and large portions.

"Spit of Tuzla"

This is an amazing place that provides the opportunity to swim in the Black or Azov Sea. That is, by crossing to one side of the spit, you will find yourself on the Black Sea, and on the other, the Azov Sea will happily welcome you. There are also ideal conditions for travelers by car. There are parking lots, a cafe, a shop, a toilet and a shower. The infrastructure here is quite developed. There are areas for sports, rental of various equipment and large wooden canopies that protect from the scorching sun. The spit is located eight kilometers from the center of Taman. In the evenings it is very beautiful here - bonfires are lit, around which groups of people singing with a guitar relax.

Beaches and sea

The coast of Taman Bay is a good place for swimming. Most tourists relax on the sandy Central Beach of the village. The entrance to the sea is gentle, but rocky. For the convenience of tourists, wooden slopes are equipped. The seabed is sandy, without silt and algae.

In the summer, a cafe is opened on the shore, water slides, attractions, toilets and changing rooms are installed. Tourists can ride jet skis, catamarans, “tablets” and “bananas”. In the evenings, people gather for picnics by the sea, make fires and barbecue, and on holidays they hold concerts.

Near the ethnographic complex, on the west of the village, there is a wide and long sandy beach “Ataman” . There is no special infrastructure, the sea is cleaner, and there are few people. Vacationers love the small beach “Old Marina” , the embankment beach between “Ataman” and the Central Beach, the coast near the pier and the beach near the airplane monument in the winery area.

Advice . If you want to swim and sunbathe away from everyone on a beach with fine, clean sand, relax on a long sand spit. It juts out into the sea when leaving Taman towards Temryuk.

First of all, we are talking about the “semi-wild” Hermonassa - a beach named after the excavations of the ancient Greek polis . Part of the colony has gone under water, so beachgoers are also watching the work of divers. Hermonassa is separated from the Central Beach by a concrete pier.

The edge of the sand is much narrower here. Nobody cleans up the trash. Entry into the water is not as uniform as under the village. But much quieter.

Entertainment

A beach holiday by the sea in Taman in the summer of 2022 is easy to make memorable. Vacationers enjoy water attractions, boat rides and sea fishing. There are no nightclubs, discos, or water parks in the village, so those who miss the noisy life go to Temryuk and Golubitskaya.

The largest mud volcano on the Taman Peninsula, Karabetova Sopka, rises 4 km from the resort. The unique natural monument has a height of 152 m. The volcano is active. Tourists come to the high hill to see the "boiling" mud and the slowly growing cone.

Advice . If you are vacationing in Taman with children, check out the open-air entertainment center, which is located opposite the local history museum. Go to the crocodile farm in Golubitskaya and the ostrich farm in the village of Za Rodinu.

Beach in the village of Ilyich

From Kuchugur you can go to the village of Ilyich - it is 23 kilometers away. The village itself is small - no more than a dozen streets. There are few people here, so there is no infrastructure.

This is probably the best of the wild beaches of the Taman Peninsula. The coastline is approximately 2 kilometers long, covered with sand and shells. There are stones at the entrance. There are no sun loungers here: don't forget a towel and umbrella! The muddy Sea of Azov plus the agitated sand have their effect, so you can’t swim here with a mask. People come to Ilyich for wildlife, many set up tents.

Excursions in Taman

According to tourist reviews for 2021-2022, the most popular place in the resort is the Ataman ethnographic complex. On the western outskirts of the village, on an area of 68 hectares, a reconstruction of a 19th-century Cossack settlement was built. Excursions, master classes, festivals and holidays are held here. While vacationing in Taman, vacationers enjoy going on bus excursions to Anapa, the Lotus Valley, the Azov Monastery and the Tizdar mud volcano.

History of the city of Taman

The Cossack village of Kuban and the seaside town of Taman have been known by many names over the centuries of its existence. It was originally a modest Greek colony called Hermonassos. The settlement was formed on the seashore in 592 BC. Years later, Hermonassos was included in the Bosporan kingdom and became an important trade route. Already in the fifth century AD, the Taman lands were captured by the Turks, making them part of the Kaganate and calling the city in their own way - Tamatarkha. It was recaptured from the Turks by the Khazars, who named the city Samkerts and included it in the Khazar Kaganate. With the arrival of the Byzantines to these coastal lands and the establishment of their power, the name Tamatarkha was returned to the city. When Taman was able to conquer Kievan Rus, the Tmutarakan principality was formed here, and the city was renamed Tmutarakan. But he did not stand for very long, as he was attacked and desecrated by the soldiers of the Golden Horde, from here they moved further across the vast lands of Rus'. The thirteenth century was marked by the seizure of Taman lands by the Genoese, who formed a large trading port here, and the settlement was named Marega. True, it was soon captured by the Ottoman Turks, and they managed to capture both the Taman and Crimean peninsulas. The Ottomans ruled for three long centuries, and the city was called Taman. Only by the beginning of the nineteenth century did the territories again become part of Russian lands, and a flotilla of Cossacks was stationed there to protect them. The beautiful and long-suffering Taman land has lived through a turbulent history, absorbing many foreign customs and traditions, so travelers study with interest its attractions, features of the way of life, farming, and crafts.
