The Tambov embankment stretches along the bank of the narrow Tsna River. It runs parallel to the central Sovetskaya Street. On the other side of Tsna there are forests and fields, fresh air and beautiful nature.
Since 2014, the walking area has been improved and has now become one of the most comfortable places in the city. Tambov Embankment is a two-level promenade with alleys, parks and monuments. The upper level runs along famous historical buildings: the Kazan Cathedral, the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral, the house of the manufacturer Aseev. If you go down to the lower tier, you can walk along the river canal, admiring the suburban forest area with coniferous and deciduous trees.
Today, the Tambov Embankment with its iconic sights, bridges, curved staircases, terraces, original landscape design and observation decks is a favorite place for Tambov residents to walk and a must-see destination for city guests.

Cafe
Most of the city's cafes and restaurants are concentrated on Sovetskaya Street, located parallel to the Embankment. However, along the promenade, in addition to traditional pizzerias (Dodo Pizza), food courts in parks and squares, there are several atmospheric places.
- "Library". The establishment with a beautiful view of the Embankment is located near the Intercession Cathedral on the territory of the residential complex "Lights of the Embankment". In addition to business lunch, coffee, and sweets, the menu also includes unusual dishes, such as pumpkin soup.
- "Pirate". The restaurant is located by the water. During the warm season, the summer playground is incredibly in demand. The menu offers dishes of European, Caucasian and Russian cuisine.

Sights of the Tambov embankment
Acquaintance with the Embankment begins from the cable-stayed bridge over the Tsna in the street area. Most of the attractions were restored simultaneously with the improvement of the promenade.
House of Creativity
A beautiful building on the left side of the river next to the cable-stayed bridge is the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity. This was once the Palace of Pioneers - one of the oldest in the country. In front of the building, a pencil box blooms wildly - an original flowerbed that has become a popular art object. Near the House of Creativity there is a modern building with blue stained glass windows - the Registration Chamber or Rosreestr.

Monastery
The Roseestra building offers views of the Kazan Mother of God Monastery, famous for its 110-meter bell tower, the tallest in the region. If the weather is clear, then the golden dome and cross of the Monastery are visible from all areas of the city.
Flower sculptures
Behind the monument to the famous composer Sergei Rachmaninov, who lived for a long time in the Tambov province, a series of famous landscape sculptures begins. Here is a Bee surrounded by bright flowers, a Family of Hedgehogs in a mushroom meadow, and a beautiful ball gown. This part of the Embankment is always full of vacationers who want to take pictures of themselves next to the original flower sculptures.

Lover's Bridge
The next attraction of the Tsna Embankment is the Lovers' Bridge, where newlyweds hang locks for good luck. Several years ago, a monument to the patrons of family well-being, Peter and Fevronia, was unveiled near this bridge. Closer to the river, next to the monument, there is a Bench of Reconciliation.

floating fountain
Opposite the Bridge of Lovers, the Floating Fountain was opened not long ago. The structure, which forms a fan-like curtain of spray, is installed directly on the water. The highlight of this attraction is a laser video projection system directly onto the water, which allows you to demonstrate not only static pictures, but also videos accompanied by stereo sound. The Floating Fountain looks most picturesque at night.

Temple
Just behind the square is a beautiful blue building - the Intercession Cathedral, one of the most ancient in the city. It was built in the 17th century on the southern side of the Tambov fortress, from where the Tatars most often attacked. The church became a symbol of the heavenly protection of Tambov, because the city never surrendered to its enemies.
Kronstadt Square
Near the bicycle rental on the Embankment, on the right, is Kronstadt Square. The place is famous for the Sochi Park with a large fountain in the center, pedestrian paths and flower beds. Opposite the park, right on the banks of the Tsna, there is a children's playground. The most popular meeting place on the square is the famous monument - “Tambov Man”.

Tezikov Bridge
Tezikov Bridge is a 10-minute walk from the Intercession Cathedral. From the upper tier of the Embankment, a majestic staircase leads to it, which was called Triumphal.
The bridge connects the Embankment with the opposite bank of the Tsna, where holiday villages and sandy beaches are located. Sergeev-Tsensky Street, which goes to the right of the bridge, was called Tezikovskaya for a long time, and the merchants who passed along the bridge were called teziks. Over time, the bridge also became Tezikov.
A memorial sign “To the Heroes of the War of 1812” was installed at Tezikov Bridge. From this place there is an amazing view of the river and the opposite bank.

A park
To the right of Tezikov Bridge is the Druzhba Park, famous for its ropes course and ski stadium, where track and field athletes, tennis and volleyball players train in the summer. On the beach of the park there are courts for mini-football and beach volleyball. There is rental of summer and winter sports equipment.
Manor house
Another iconic point on the Embankment map is the Aseev Estate. In addition to being an architectural monument with an amazing exterior and luxurious interior, the Estate, a branch of the Peterhof Museum-Reserve, regularly hosts exhibitions, literary and musical evenings, as well as New Year's events for adults and children. In winter, the area in front of the Aseevs’ house turns into a platform for ice sculptures and slides.

Coastal square
On the opposite side of the Embankment, on the bank of the Tsna River canal, lies the Coastal Square, the improvement of which was completed just a couple of years ago. This new observation deck with benches and paths soon became one of the most beautiful places in the city with dozens of amazing locations for photo sessions, not only during the day, but also at night.
Embankment street in Tambov
Naberezhnaya Street in Tambov (Tambov, Russia) - description, history, location, reviews, photos and videos.
- Last minute tours
to Russia
One of the most beautiful streets in Tambov, along which locals and, alas, few tourists leisurely stroll, is, of course, Naberezhnaya Street. Lying picturesquely along the left bank of the Tsna River, it is considered the “calling card” of the city. It is not difficult to understand why she received such a high-profile title; all you have to do is visit here.
Embankment is a two-level street: the first part lies next to the river, and the second is a couple of meters higher. Its length is small, just over 2.5 km, but for a pleasant evening walk with periodic stops to refresh yourself with local ice cream or aromatic coffee, this is quite enough.
It is impossible to say exactly why this street is considered the most favorite among Tambov residents. There is nothing “awful” here, but everything is good in moderation. And cozy views of the suburban area of the Pritsna forest with its centuries-old trees. And cute cafes with awesome Tambov ice cream. And interesting monuments, near which you want to stand and think, and not take a photo on duty for show and run on.
In the center of the Embankment there is Sochi Park, from where, as in a fairy tale, you go to the right - you will get to the house of manufacturer Aseev, a fairy-tale palace immersed in the greenery of a beautiful park. Well, if you go to the left, you will come out to the ensemble of the Kazan and Spaso-Preobrazhenskaya churches.
Directly on the Embankment also has its own attractions, for example, the “Lover's Bridge”, all studded with castles of happy brides and grooms, as well as curved staircases, shady terraces, observation decks with gorgeous views of Tsna and fancy lanterns illuminating this entire luxurious “promenade ensemble”.
Embankment Monuments
Monuments are a special feature of the Embankment. For example, not so long ago, in 2007, a simple, but with deep overtones, Monument to the Russian peasant was erected. This three-meter sculpture of a hard-working farmer tramples with his heavy plow a machine-gun belt and tired political slogans. Nearby is a memorial sign about the imminent construction of a monument in memory of the anti-Bolshevik uprising led by Antonov. These signs are connected by one story, and it is no coincidence that they are in this place. It turns out that next to the Church of the Intercession, near which they stand, there used to be a concentration camp where participants in the popular uprising of 1920-1921 were kept. They entered the history of the Tambov province under the name “Antonovism.” The reason for these terrible events was simple for that time: at the end of the summer of 1920, peasants from two Tambov villages refused to give the bread they had grown with such difficulty to the food detachments. Very soon the uprising swept all Tambov lands (Antonov created about 20 regiments, organized into two armies, in total about 50 thousand people). In the leaflet, Antonov wrote: “I have dedicated my entire life to fighting the usurpers of people’s power and will fight them to the end. Power was not wrested from the hands of the tsarist executioners in order to transfer it into the hands of a handful of communist executioners. Power must be transferred to the people...” They dealt with the disobedient simply - with the help of mass executions and poison gases, the case was “closed” in one year.
There are also more peaceful monuments on the Embankment - for example, a charming flower bee on the lawn or a monument to S.V. Rachmaninov, an outstanding composer, pianist and conductor.
Embankment Street
How to get there
There are no public transport stops on the Embankment itself. But on Sovetskaya Street, parallel to it, there are several: near the cable-stayed bridge - “Komsomolskaya”, near Sochi Park - “Chicherin House Museum”, in the area of Tizikov Bridge - “August Babel” and “Pervomaiskaya Square”, near Pribrezhny Square - “ House of the Artist." All these stops pass bus routes No. 1, 1n, 8, 8s, 39, 45, 50, 51, 51 m, 55, 70, 151, 151a, minibuses No. 33, 38, 61, 62.
From anywhere in the city you can get to Embankment by taxi, Arbat, Maxim, Comfort, and also order a car through the Yandex mobile applications. Taxi", Gett.
