Flight by plane to Gelendzhik

Gelendzhik Airport is located on Thin Cape, within the city. Planes of many Russian airlines fly there: Aeroflot, UTair, Ural Airlines, Russia.

Thus, if you are traveling alone or with children, you will spend a considerable amount of money on air tickets. Considering the cost of living in Gelendzhik and the prices for food in cafes, the trip can be quite golden.

Advantages of flying from Moscow to Gelendzhik

1. A plane flight from Moscow to Gelendzhik takes just over 2 hours. It used to be faster, but due to well-known events the plane is forced to go around the territory of Eastern Ukraine. The distance between Moscow and Gelendzhik in a straight line is 1206 km. Thus, having departed from Moscow in the morning, already in the afternoon you can plunge into the warm Black Sea.

Disadvantages of flying by plane

1. At the Black Sea resorts you will be deprived of a car. Another option is to rent it on the spot. But the technical condition of the car may be far from ideal. Of course, you can go around the area on a guided tour, but sometimes you want to explore different places yourself, rather than rely on the will of a guide.

2. Luggage weight is limited. If you are used to traveling with a small amount of things, this is not a problem. But what if you like to “walk” a new dress every day?

3. Planes do not land in Gelendzhik in strong winds. As a rule, they are redirected to Anapa, and from there passengers are taken to Gelendzhik airport on a special bus. Last year we flew into and out of Anapa precisely because of the strong wind. Because of this, the road turned out to be very difficult physically and psychologically.

4. Flying an airplane is an expensive pleasure.

By plane

The cost of the cheapest ticket to Gelendzhik in June, July 2019 (excluding the cost of a return ticket) is from 5099 rubles. up to 8159 rub. Arrivals and departures of flights most often take place at Vnukovo Airport.

  • public transport;
  • Taxi.

A public transport stop is located approximately 100 meters from the airport, on Solntsdarskaya Street. Buses and minibuses run along the route: Thick Cape - city center - airport - Thin Cape from 6.00 to 23.00 with an interval of 20-30 minutes. Fare:

  • by bus - 30 rubles;
  • by minibus - up to 50 rubles.

You must use transport with the following routing numbers:

  • bus No. 5 (Thick Cape - center - airport - Thin Cape);
  • minibus No. 5 (Thick Cape - center - airport - Thin Cape);
  • bus No. 16 (to the southern microdistrict);
  • minibus No. 12 (airport - Tolsty Cape)

Before boarding a bus or minibus, you need to make sure there is a sign “to the city” on the windshield of the vehicle, or check with the driver for the direction of travel, otherwise there is a risk of driving in the opposite direction.

Getting from the airport to the city center by taxi will cost about 850 rubles. You can pre-book a car from taxi operators, or find a private driver near the airport building.

Travel by car from Moscow to Gelendzhik

Traveling by car will be much cheaper than traveling by plane. Knowing the fuel consumption of your car, you can easily calculate the cost of gasoline for the entire trip. According to the roughest estimates, this is about 5-6 thousand for the Moscow-Gelendzhik road (in one direction). The price also needs to include toll sections on the M4 Don highway.

Toll sections of the M4 Don highway

There are toll sections on the M-4 Don highway, the number of which is growing every year. The cost of travel along them is also increasing. Travel at night is cheaper. Therefore, the most profitable option is to buy a transponder, which gives a discount of 20%.

We purchased a “T-pass” transponder, which is sold at Lukoil gas stations along the highway. It's very easy to top up:

  • through the Avtodor mobile application (I recommend installing it, because it is very convenient to track all the money spent on toll sections),
  • through the mobile application of Sberbank and other banks.

This transponder is also valid on other routes: M-1 “Northern Bypass of Odintsovo”, M-3 “Ukraine”, M-4 “Don”, M-11 “Moscow - St. Petersburg” and on the “Western High-Speed Diameter” in St. -Petersburg. True, it does not always work on toll sections of the M-11 highway and does not provide a discount on the Moscow-Solnechnogorsk section.

Where to stay overnight on the way to Gelendzhik and hotel costs

You immediately need to ask yourself the question: how long are you willing to sit behind the wheel and how many days will the trip last? 1-2-3 days?

If you travel on one day, the road from Moscow will take you about 18-20 hours or more. You are guaranteed traffic jams in the Voronezh and Rostov regions, as well as in the Krasnodar Territory (especially if you travel further towards Sochi).

If you decide to travel in two days, then you can look for accommodation for the night either in the area of Boguchar (Voronezh region) or Millerovo (Rostov region), or in Rostov-on-Don. Keep in mind that from Moscow to Rostov-on-Don is more than 1000 km. And there is a traffic jam in Losevo and Pavlovsk, of course, until a bypass is made there.

If driving 1000 km a day is problematic for you, you can extend the journey over 3 days. Then the best cities for an overnight stay are Voronezh on the first day and Rostov-on-Don on the second day. Some, fearing heavy traffic jams in the Krasnodar Territory, try to drive to Krasnodar on the second day and spend the night there.

If you easily travel 1000 km a day, then, without a doubt, the best option for an overnight stop is Rostov-on-Don. Rostov-on-Don is a very beautiful city, and its surroundings are also beautiful. Therefore, if you have time, you can stay here for a day or two.

Some people prefer not to spend money on hotels along the way and spend the night right in the car. Then, for safety reasons, it is better to stop overnight near a traffic police post or at a gas station. There are also those who get to the south in one sitting, practically without leaving the wheel for more than 20 hours.

Advantages of traveling from Moscow to Gelendzhik by car

1. The road can turn into a fascinating two- or three-day trip. And, accordingly, the way back too.

2. Your car is always with you. Arriving in the south, you are free in your movements.

Disadvantages of traveling by car

1. Long road there and back - 1620 km one way. If you are limited to a short vacation, this can be a serious obstacle.

2. The driver will inevitably get tired on the road and may feel unwell. There may be traffic jams, road repairs, accidents or breakdowns (God forbid). Or just bad weather.

3. In the Krasnodar Territory, huge traffic jams accumulate on the roads in the summer.

4. Many people complain about problems at the Tsukerova Balka traffic police post (Kushchevskaya village) at the entrance to the Krasnodar Territory.

To Gelendzhik by bus

In addition to Novorossiysk, regular buses to Gelendzhik run from most notable cities in southern Russia. In particular, flights from Krasnodar usually operate at least once an hour (the majority go through Novorossiysk and Kabardinka, the rest through Goryachiy Klyuch and Arkhipo-Osipovka). Selected flights from central Russia are also available. Tourists heading to resort villages around Gelendzhik can also use direct buses from cities in the South of Russia to some of these places, in particular Divnomorsk, Arkhipo-Osipovka, Dzhanhot. The approximate price of a trip in 2016 is 1.8–2 rubles per kilometer. The approximate schedule and purchase of tickets for some flights departing from points in the Krasnodar Territory are available on the website www.kpas.ru.

The intercity bus station in Gelendzhik is located about a kilometer from the city center near the Novorossiysk - Tuapse highway. Passengers heading to various points in the city can also request to be dropped off at locations closer to their destinations. The bus station itself is served by local buses 2, 6 and 40.

To continue your trip within the city or to nearby communities, you may need to go or move to a commuter bus station. It is located in the city center and serves mainly routes to neighboring resort villages. Several more similar routes leave from the so-called central stop on Kirova Street.

Information for motorists

When traveling to Gelendzhik by car, you should keep one feature in mind. The main M-4 highway, connecting the center of the country with the south (Moscow - Voronezh - Rostov-on-Don - Krasnodar) is one of the best in Russia at the moment: at least two lanes in each direction along the entire length, except for the final mountain section. However, about half of it is already paid, and the share of paid sections is growing all the time. The price in 2016 is about a ruble per kilometer, sometimes a little more. In addition, in the summer the M-4 is prone to traffic jams.

There are no paid sections south of Rostov-on-Don yet, but they will appear soon. You can get around these future southern sections along an alternative and approximately equal in kilometer road - from Rostov through Azov, Starominskaya, Timashevsk, Slavyansk-on-Kuban.
