People in those truly fertile lands where Arkhipo-Osipovka is located today have lived since time immemorial: this is evidenced by the nearby ruins of a Roman tower.

Beach

On March 22, 1840, the garrison of the Mikhailovsky fortification, numbering 480 people, took on an unequal battle that lasted for five hours against twelve thousand highlanders.
When almost all the defenders of the fortification were killed, the commander, senior captain Nikolai Konstantinovich Liko, who by that time had already been wounded twice, gave the order to set fire to the powder magazines. The order was carried out by Private Arkhip Osipov .

The explosion killed three thousand attackers and the remaining defenders. Emperor Nicholas I ordered Arkhip Osipov to be permanently enrolled in the first grenadier company of the Tenginsky regiment.

a cast iron cross was erected at the site of the battle, on a hill, in memory of the feat of Captain Liko and Private Osipov . You can reach it via a stone staircase.

Museum complex "Mikhailovskoye Fortification"


Six-meter-high earthen ramparts remained from the blown up Mikhailovsky fortification.
Already in our time, according to ancient drawings, the Mikhailovsky Fortress exactly as it looked in 1837 .

From behind the wooden palisade, its ancient cannons still look menacingly from the observation towers.

The museum complex also includes a historical and ethnographic museum, designed to accommodate tourist groups of up to 40 people.

The area of ​​the museum exhibition hall is 130 m2.

The Museum of Bread and Wine is located on the territory of the Mikhailovskoye Fortification museum complex.

Visitors can follow the entire journey of wheat from grinding to baking lush, rosy loaves in a real Russian oven.

The exhibition includes ancient plows, harrows and other farming tools.

Beach behind the Teshebs River

The third most popular beach in the city is located in the most picturesque corner of the resort. The beach is pebbly and differs from the previous ones in the small number of vacationers. Despite this, there is a lot of entertainment for city guests, water riding, scuba diving, boat and catamaran trips, parachute jumping. St. Nicholas Church


St. Nicholas Church was built thanks to the initiative of the Cossacks in 1906.
The royal treasury donated 9,000 rubles for its construction. True, subsequently the temple suffered greatly, lost its icons, church utensils and was turned into a food store .

The second birth of the temple took place on December 15, 1992. The church was completely restored, a central dome and a bell tower were erected, where bells were installed, and the roof was covered with copper plates.

The temple painting was done by artist V.S. Sukhorukov. Choirs were installed inside the temple, as well as a carved linden iconostasis covered with gold leaf.

Sanatorium "Arkhipo-Osipovka"

House with deer


When entering Arkhipo-Osipovka from Gelendzhik, vacationers are greeted by a completely unusual house , built of wild stone .
On its roof, red deer listen sensitively to the slightest rustle, at the gate a clumsy bear begs for a treat on its hind legs, and a bat perches on the gable.

On the house itself and around it there are more than fifty figures of animals and birds , which were sculpted by the forester V.M. Sofronov who lived here in the middle of the last century.

Teshebskie waterfalls


Teshebsky waterfalls (sometimes called Gebiussky or Bigiussky) are located six kilometers east of Arkhipo-Osipovka.
Very close to them is the Novorossiysk - Dzhubga highway (from the last waterfall to the road - 500 m). Seven waterfalls are located in a 1 km section along the river.

The height difference from the first waterfall to the last is approximately 250 m. The height of the largest waterfall is 16.5 m, the lowest is 2 m.

The waterfalls have eloquent names: Devil's Mouth , Grotto , Lace .

The hiking route is about five kilometers. At the foot of the mountain, where the hiking trail begins, there is an ecological post, as well as several retail outlets and a kebab shop.

Tourist groups are also formed here , the number of which reaches 150–200 people . The hiking trail is very convenient, with fences, stairs, reliable bridges over the stream, and is quite suitable even for the most unprepared tourists.

The mountains here are mainly made of limestone and sandstone, so the water has carved some very strange curves in the soft rocks.

Roman tower


On the right bank of the Vulan River, four kilometers from Arkhipo-Osipovka, there are the ruins of a real Roman tower built in the first century AD, during the time of Emperor Nero .
It is assumed that at that time the tower protected local settlements and the road to them, along which the caravans of the Great Silk Road walked, from attacks by robbers and pirates.

The tower was three stories high, built from sandstone slabs held together by clay and wood. Leaving the fortress, the garrison set it on fire, and today only ruins remain of the tower.

Nornickel Beach


It is worth mentioning this local beach, which is located near the Wulan River. Many travelers come to this beach by car; for convenience, there is a special ramp to the beach. The territory has its own parking lot; vacationers are offered a lot of entertainment on the beach. In addition, there are equipment rentals for beach holidays. There are also several cafes and bars here. The beach is clean, well-groomed, the sea is warm, so it is always crowded. Mostly couples with children and many young people relax on the beach. The seashore is made of small pebbles, the entrance to the water is easy. There is a fee to enter the beach by car, but it is not expensive.
