Even an experienced tourist will be surprised by the beauty of the sights of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and its capital. The rich history of the city is reflected in various cultural monuments. Unique sacred places are imbued with the spirit of antiquity, architectural structures create a unique image, and cultural institutions instill a sense of beauty in residents and tourists. The region perfectly combines centuries-old history and modernity.
Chapel of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa
The chapel is familiar to the older generation of Russians, because it was depicted on ten-ruble bills. In ancient times, the green hipped roof of the shrine was visible from anywhere in Krasnoyarsk. The Chapel of Paraskeva Pyatnitsa has its own history. On the site of the shrine there originally stood a building from the early 19th century, built by a merchant as gratitude for being saved from death while crossing the Yenisei. A newer building with eight sides, which can be seen today, was built by the philanthropist and gold miner Kuznetsov.
To this day, at noon, the area near the chapel is shaken by a cannon shot. In the evening, many tourists visit the shrine to look at the city from above.
Railroad bridge
In 1900, the Railway Bridge over the Yenisei was only a year old, but its main triumph was close. It was during your visit to the city on the Yenisei, several thousand kilometers to the west, in Paris, that the World Exhibition was in full swing. Its results will be summed up in November and the Krasnoyarsk Railway Bridge will be declared the winner. Exactly the same prize was awarded to the famous Eiffel Tower 11 years earlier. The gold medal in Paris remains to this day the highest achievement of Krasnoyarsk architecture.
The bridge was truly impressive. 907 meters of steel structures with spans of 144 meters, an incredible cost of 3 million royal rubles - all this aroused the sincere admiration of his contemporaries.
Alas, the bridge did not survive until 2021. In 2002, they began to dismantle it, and in 2007 it was irrevocably sold for scrap, without even leaving a piece as a souvenir.
Reserve "Stolby"
The list of natural attractions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory usually opens with the Stolby Nature Reserve. Citizens and guests of the city are happy to come to the spurs of the Eastern Sayan Mountains to relax. Incredible nature, clean and fragrant air due to coniferous trees and grasses captivate the body and soul. In the area you can meet taiga birds and animals, try wild berries and collect a basket of mushrooms. If your vacation happened in September, you can also try pine nuts.
The reserve is called “Pillars” because of the ancient rocks, which under the influence of rain and wind began to resemble pillars. The age of the rock is estimated at about 500 million years. You can visit the territory of the reserve either in summer or in winter. The cost of an excursion for a group of four people is from 2000 to 6000 rubles.
Manskaya loop
If you have transport, then another countryside attraction that is worth visiting in dry weather (preferably in summer) is the Manskaya Loop or Perekop. This is the name of the peak from which a view opens onto the bizarre bend of the Mana River - the riverbed makes a large loop.
Get to Mansky village, then along the street. Krasnoyarskaya and Solnechnaya go down to the river bank (until the road comes to a dead end). Then you will have to follow the path along the left bank (about 20-30 minutes) until a high peak appears on the left - turn left into the woods and climb up to it along the path. From the mountain there is a view of the loop and the taiga.
Map:Important Note:
- the climb up the mountain is very slippery - wear comfortable shoes (no flip-flops or sneakers with smooth soles) and avoid hiking in the rain.
Triumphal Arch
A great photo can be taken against the backdrop of the magnificent structure built in 2003. The architectural monument was built in honor of the 375th anniversary of the founding of the city. According to legend, in 1628, the Cossacks first landed on the banks of the Yenisei and founded a fort, which later became a metropolis.
However, the Arc de Triomphe, as conceived by the authors, is a memory of the feat of the victorious people in the Great Patriotic War. In appearance, the building looks very solemn and elegant. This effect was achieved thanks to the polished stone that served as the cladding of the arch.
Big Ben Tower
Like London, Krasnoyarsk boasts a Big Ben very similar to the original one. The tower has 4 dials, each 6.5 meters in diameter and weighing one and a half tons. The city authorities began construction back in 1977, but after some time they froze the project for unknown reasons. The tower was remembered again in 2000. The following year, in the fall, construction work was completed. A new attraction has appeared in Krasnoyarsk - the pride of the townspeople and a favorite place for city guests.
Observation deck "Tsar Fish"
In the village of Ovsyanka, Krasnoyarsk region, there is a unique and interesting cultural site - the Tsar Fish observation deck on a steep cliff at an altitude of 300 m above the Yenisei. This site was created in the 70s. XX century as a memory of a local native - writer V.P. Astafiev.
In 2004, a metal monument to the Tsar Fish, the Yenisei sturgeon, 4 m high and weighing 300 kg, was installed on the site, after which the site received its modern name. In addition, they plan to build a watchtower in this place according to drawings from the 17th century.
River Station
The station building was built in 1952. Many people note that for such structures the river station in Krasnoyarsk looks incredibly aesthetically pleasing. But this is not without reason. The two-story mansion with columns and a quadrangular rotunda with a long spire on the roof was originally built for an art gallery. However, the chief architect decided to move the cultural site from the embankment. The exhibits moved, and the building became a place where passengers come - a river station.
Resurrection Cathedral
The oldest stone building in Krasnoyarsk and for a long time the main cathedral of the province. Krasnoyarsk residents would probably show you its main attractions: the icon of the Transfiguration of the Lord in a solid 5.5-kilogram silver frame, a new bell tower built in 1850 with a messenger bell, and a wooden portier, painted in the time of Boris Godunov.
It would be no less interesting to visit the cemetery near the cathedral, where among the graves of the first Krasnoyarsk residents one could see the grave of Commander Rezanov, the famous traveler who died on the way from California to St. Petersburg.
The cathedral has not survived to this day. In the early 60s, the temple, which had already been converted into a mechanical plant, was demolished. The painted portico, the bell tower, and Rezanov’s grave were lost. But the icon survived - now it can be seen in the Museum of Local Lore. True, without a salary, he was handed over to the bank in 1935 for the needs of industrialization.
House of the Father
The wooden house is today considered an architectural monument. In addition, the structure is very well preserved, even though it was built in 1911. The architecture of the mansion differs from others by its obvious mixture of European and Russian styles. The rectangular side openings of the walls go well with the lancet windows, and the figured carvings on the decorative elements in the style of Warsaw buildings are in harmony with the figured platbands of Siberian houses. An unusual two-story mansion was built for the curator of the Svyatopolk-Mirsky church. Today, the architectural monument serves as a building for the music school and church administration.
Anashensky pine forest
Anashensky Bor is a unique pine forest with a length of 18 km and an area of 5.85 hectares on the right bank of the Yenisei in the Krasnoyarsk region. This place is classified as a specially protected area as a botanical natural monument, formed in 1987 to preserve a unique forest area.
Even after many years of studying this beautiful and unusual place, experts cannot answer why it stretches from west to east precisely in the direction of the prevailing winds. Another inexplicable point is that mixed forests predominate in the region, and the forest consists of dark coniferous forest with beautiful slender and even pine trees.
Moreover, their root system is of a surface type, not an anchor type, although there are no rock formations under the ground that would impede the growth of tap roots.
Museum of Local Lore
One of the main attractions of the city is the building of the local history museum. The construction is a reconstruction of a temple from the times of Ancient Egypt. The institution was founded in 1889 and boasts a large collection of original antiquities (more than 145 thousand). The exhibition contains personal belongings of the great inhabitants of the region:
- Dmitry Hvorostovsky is a world-famous opera singer.
- Vasily Ivanovich Surikov - a great academician and artist.
- Viktor Petrovich Astafiev - Soviet and Russian writer.
One of the main halls of the museum is specially reserved for exhibits showing the historical development of the peoples of Siberia. Items include incredible archaeological finds, wax figures of herders, hunters and warriors in original clothing.
Museum workers give tours of the halls. Ticket price: for children and students - 40 rubles, for pensioners - 50 rubles, and for adults - 100 rubles.
Cathedral
You will definitely be shown the main cathedral of the city. It was opened in May 1861 and it stood on the spot that today is called Revolution Square. Its size was truly impressive. Length 55 meters, height 40 meters - that is, almost the size of a 13-story building. The author of the project, architect Ton, is the same one who designed the Moscow Cathedral of Christ the Savior. The construction of the structure cost 560 thousand silver rubles. A huge amount for those times.
It’s hard not to notice that the temple has not survived to this day. In December 1935 it was blown up.

Organ Hall
The building of the organ hall in Krasnoyarsk has a very rich history. The cultural monument is located on the site of a Catholic church, built in 1911 according to all the canons of the Gothic style. However, the shrine was used for its intended purpose for only nine years. After the revolution, the building constantly changed its purpose.
At some time the building was used as a warehouse, at another - as a radio committee.
But at the end of the 20th century, they decided to restore the temple, and one of the Czech companies producing musical instruments began manufacturing a large organ consisting of two thousand pipes. For the first time, majestic melodies sounded in the temple in 1983. Today you can get to an organ concert by purchasing a ticket costing from 200 to 400 rubles.

Monument to Nikolai Rezanov
Almost every person in Russia has at least once heard the line “You will never forget me” from the composition “Juno and Avos”. But almost few people know that the work was written based on the real story of Commander Nikolai Rezanov. The man became famous as the leader of the first Russian “around the world” and a brilliant diplomat. Rezanov did a lot for Alaska to join the Russian Empire. He died in 1807 from a cold.
In 2007, a sum of money was collected from donations from citizens for the installation of a monument to Nikolai Rezanov. A five-meter bronze figure of a man rises on a pedestal. The commander himself is dressed in a uniform, and in front of him there is a floating ball - a fountain on which the famous expedition route is built.
Putorana Plateau
The Putorana Plateau is a large basalt plateau in the Krasnoyarsk region, preserved in its original form. Its widest part reaches 650 km, and its area is 250 thousand km2. This stunningly beautiful place is a unique symbol of Taimyr, the region and Siberia.
The surface of the plateau is lined with many flat-bottomed canyons with steep slopes, reaching heights of several hundred meters in some places. The beautiful severity of Putorana is further emphasized by numerous waterfalls (their number and concentration is considered the largest in Russia and the world), the highest of which reaches 108 m.
Another unique feature of the plateau is the number of lakes and their depth - more than 25 thousand! After Lake Baikal and Lake Teletskoye, these beautiful mountain lakes are considered the deepest (180-420 m), and their total volume of fresh water creates in the Krasnoyarsk region the second largest reservoir in Russia after Lake Baikal.
Memory of A.P. Chekhov
Throughout history, many famous Russians have visited Krasnoyarsk. Among others was Anton Pavlovich Chekhov. He stopped in the city in 1890 while traveling to Sakhalin. The writer liked Krasnoyarsk so much that in “Travel Notes” he later called the city the most beautiful city in Siberia.
In 1995, residents of Krasnoyarsk erected a monument to Chekhov as a sign of gratitude for the high appreciation of their small homeland. You can find the statue on the embankment, a few blocks before the river station.

If you have already “been everywhere” and “seen everything,” then here is a selection of places in the region, about which you will say: “Wow!”
KUTURCHINSKOE BELOGORYE
The photo shows the amazing stone remains of Kuturchinsky Belogorye, which is located just a couple of hours drive from the city of Krasnoyarsk. The places here are wild, taiga, the distance is 200 km along the road towards Kuragino through Shalinskoye and Narva. You need to get to Vyezhiy Log, and there the choice of parking place is at your discretion. A hike to Kuturchyny usually takes two days.
In Krasnoyarsk, several tourist clubs organize trips to the Kuturchinskoe Belogorye, for example, the Siberian Foxes , and the Altamira . You can also arrange a tour on your own by taking an intercity bus to the village of Ivanovka (travel time is almost 5.5 hours), and then back by train from Mana station (the same 5 hours). STONE CITY
Decide to go to Stone Town! It is located in the Ergaki Natural Park. Huge stone natural sculptures - flaky, pie-like outlines of rocks, those Ergaki, which are not visible to everyone. It’s best to say in the words of the lucky ones who managed to visit this mysterious place: “There were three of us in the Stone City and not a soul else, so it felt like this performance was being created only for us. And what a ringing silence stood around... And only droplets of rain falling from the fir trees and the rustle of moss falling under our feet sounded in it... We all felt that the City was alive, breathing... And we wanted to stay longer, but it was already getting dark... So we opened another one place of Power."
If you are also interested in making a trip to this mystical space, then know that it is located 28 km from the Ergaki recreation center (600 km from Krasnoyarsk). But you won’t be able to get to Stone Town in a regular car; the road there is for all-terrain vehicles or jeeps with all-wheel drive. Here is the number of the person who handles the transfer: +7 913 519 8588 - they gave it to us at the Visitor Center of the Ergaki Natural Park. The car costs 4,500 rubles. This cost can be divided among 7-8 people. Photo: Karina Eliseeva
KOYSKOYE BELOGORYE
The Krasnoyarsk region is fraught with many mysteries, and one of them is the Koyskoye Belogorye - a mountain range located in the remote taiga of the Partizansky district, not far from the Kuturchinsky Belogorye. What is the mystery, you ask? And the fact is that the Khoi remains, like the Kuturchin ones, are considered by some researchers to be artificially created. And they find confirmation of their hypothesis in the unusually regular shape of the stones from which the rocks are made, as well as in the skillful combination of different rocks. On Youtube you will find several films about expeditions to Koiskoye Belogorye, in which you can see with your own eyes the findings of these independent researchers. For example, here . They believe that once upon a time these were not rocks, but buildings of ancient civilizations, whose technical development was much higher than ours, but due to an unknown cataclysm or war, these civilizations were destroyed. Researchers include the already mentioned Stone City in the Ergaki natural park and in the Karatuz region, the Seven Brothers rocks in the Kuraginsky region, Mount Karatag, the Topol rocks in the Dzerzhinsky region and, surprisingly, the Krasnoyarsk Pillars, among similar megalithic structures. SHALOBOLINSKAYA WRITTEN
An open-air monument and a large-scale gallery of rock art, the Shalobolinskaya Pisanitsa is about 500 planes with drawings along a 3 km rock mass. It is located on the banks of the Tuba River,
near the villages of Shalobolino and Ilyinka in the Kuraginsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
According to the chronological framework, the drawings cover the period from the Neolithic, VI-IV millennium BC, and up to ethnographic modernity. They are made by knocking out, rubbing, and engraving. Petroglyphs are located at a height of 1.5 m to 150 m. Here you will see images of camouflaged anthropomorphic figures, faces, women in labor, images of predators, various animals and unprecedented creatures, solar symbols and signs.
Now work is underway to study the Shalobolinskaya writing and its restoration. In the near future, it is planned to create a protected historical and cultural reserve area. Currently, this monument is under state protection.

SANCTUARY TIGER TAS OBAA
Divine heavenly maiden. This is the translation of the name of the ancient sanctuary and stone sculpture Tiger Tas Obaa, in the Sharypovsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. For those who know and feel energy, this is a real place of power. On the forums they write that the idol’s body is unusually relaxed, and his eyes fill with tears. According to legends, an ancient statue, which is more than 4 thousand years old, heals infertility. That’s why those who cannot get pregnant for a long time, those who are lonely and want to meet their love, and those who want to restore their destroyed family happiness go to the Heavenly Virgin. Everyone disagrees about the best way to ask the Heavenly Virgin to fulfill your cherished desire. Someone conducts long shamanic rituals here, someone believes that you need to touch the stone idol, someone, on the contrary, says that you should never touch it, someone walks in circles and bows... But ours is for you advice: trust your body, it will always tell you exactly what needs to be done! How to get there: it’s better by car; you’ll have to travel about 350 km from Krasnoyarsk to the village of Maloe Ozero in the Sharypovsky district. The sanctuary is located on the low mountain Popereshka, near the highway to Maloe Lake, opposite the “Stone Town” burial ground. UST-TASEEVSKY IDOL
In the Motyginsky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory stands a silent witness of bygone times - the Taseevsky idol - the northernmost stone cult complex, which has no analogues in Russia. Similar figures were found only in Mongolia on the border with China. Belongs to the early Iron Age, Scythian era, dated from the 4th century BC to the 1st century AD. When people talk about this place, they usually mention the Idol, a stone with the face of an old man carved on it, but in fact there is not one, but four of them. Also on the territory of the complex and along the Taseyeva River, archaeologists found more than a thousand antiquities: weapons, arrowheads, spears, jewelry of Siberian shamans and objects of Scythian culture - artistic castings, bronze. This indicates that in the past the place was a cult and very visited. Due to the magnetic anomaly present here, lightning often strikes tall pine trees. Scientists explain that there is no mysticism, just a high iron content in the soil. More details about the route: sibwaytour.com
