In 2003, an artificial dam was created to connect Tuzla to the peninsula. Nowadays, the site is an elongated sand spit, which continues to increase in size thanks to coastal sediments. The length of the spit is about 5 km. Administratively, the spit is divided between two regions: the eastern part of the spit belongs to the Krasnodar Territory, the western part to the Crimea.
There are no permanent residents on the Tuzlinskaya Spit, however, it is a favorite place for lovers of “wild” tourism. Numerous sandy beaches are considered the cleanest in the entire Taman Peninsula.
