Tourists from other regions are usually motivated to come to Moscow for the weekend by some event - a concert or festival. In this case, walking along the streets of the capital becomes a pleasant bonus. It is unrealistic to travel around the whole of Moscow in 2 days, so in order not to waste precious time, you should carefully choose your route.

Where to go on a weekend in Moscow
Spend your weekend in Moscow exploring the main attractions. This is the best option for those who came to Zlatoglavaya for the first time and are limited in time.
If your plane or train arrives early in the morning, and the hotel is only checked in after lunch, then use this time profitably - leave your suitcases in the storage room and go to the center. Items can be deposited at the hotel itself or at the nearest train station.
Having gotten rid of excess cargo, get on the metro and follow to the Lubyanka station. Leaving the lobby, you will find yourself on Lubyanka Square , where the Central Children's Store (CDM) with an observation deck and the Museum of Childhood .

From here there are several routes to Red Square:
- along Nikolskaya street . The pedestrian street is extremely popular among tourists and townspeople, as many historical buildings have been preserved here. All year round Nikolskaya is decorated with decorations and evening illuminations.
- along Teatralny Proezd. If you walk just 300 meters along this street from the Central House of Music, you will see the Bolshoi Theater , the Maly Theater and the Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT) . On the other side of Teatralny Proezd there is a small public garden with a fountain and monuments. Behind it there is a path leading to Revolution Square and Manezhnaya Square , as well as to the Moscow Museum of Archeology , the Museum of the Patriotic War of 1812 and the V. I. Lenin Museum . At the State Historical Museum - State Historical Museum, take a photo at the Zero Kilometer and go out onto Red Square.
- along Lubyansky Proezd and Varvarka. The first on the way will be the Museum Park with the Solovetsky Stone , followed by the Polytechnic Museum (closed for reconstruction until December 2022, exhibitions are held at other venues). Ilyinsky Square will lead to Varvarka Street, to Zaryadye Park. On the way to the square you will see St. George's Church , Znamensky Monastery , Gostiny Dvor and Varvarinskaya Church .

Red Square and Moscow Kremlin
It's easy to spend a whole day on the main attractions of Moscow. However, do not forget about time pressure. On weekends, Red Square is very crowded, which is why queues for exhibitions and museums can be so long that they take more than an hour. When you have only two days to rest, it is better to limit yourself to an external inspection of the monuments.
What to see on the main square of the country? Start with the Kazan Cathedral and GUM . Take a stroll through the shopping arcades of the famous store, buy the legendary ice cream in a waffle cup in the shop near the fountain. Are you hungry? Then take a look at dining room No. 57 on the 3rd floor of GUM.
From the shopping center, move to Lobnoye Mesto and St. Basil's Cathedral , in front of which there is a monument to Minin and Pozharsky . Near the fortress walls of the Kremlin is the Mausoleum of V.I. Lenin and the Necropolis . They should be included in the route only if there are no queues.

Take a walk near the Arsenal and the Senate Palace and don’t forget about the legendary monuments - the Tsar Cannon and the Tsar Bell . Of the 8 Orthodox shrines of the Kremlin, the Assumption , Archangel and Annunciation Cathedrals , the Church of the Deposition of the Robe and the Ivan the Great Bell Tower .

Weekend fairs in Moscow, flea markets
Spend your weekend in Moscow visiting fairs. They operate from April until the end of November. Addresses of weekend markets are published on the Open Data Portal of the Moscow Government (in the “Trade” section). Please note that only agricultural products are sold at fairs; unusual souvenirs should be looked for at Moscow flea markets.
The flea market in Izmailovsky Vernissage is perhaps the most famous in the city. It is convenient because the products are divided into groups, which makes searching much easier.
Another popular bazaar is located near the Ploshchad Ilyich metro station, at Shkolnaya Street, 36–48.

Moscow parks on weekends
The capital has many beautiful parks and gardens that are open for walks all year round, so the question of where to go for a walk in Moscow on weekends is easily resolved.
Zaryadye Park
Between Red Square and the embankment lies the Zaryadye natural landscape park. This green zone appeared in the fall of 2022. The park successfully combines modern architecture and ancient buildings preserved from the Varvarka side. Walking along the alleys and paths of Zaryadye, look into the Underground Museum , the Dome , Glass Bark and Big Amphitheater . The top place for selfies and panoramic shots was the Soaring Bridge - an amazing structure that seems to hang over the Moscow River without any supports.

In autumn and winter, visitors are welcome at the Gorky Park Museum , at contemporary art exhibitions at the Garage Museum of , at skating rinks, attractions and a Christmas market.

Muzeon Art Park
"Museon" is a real open-air sculpture museum. Hundreds of monuments line the paths of the park. Access to them is unlimited; visitors can touch the sculptures and take photographs. On the territory of Muzeon there is the New Tretyakov Gallery and, beloved by children, a dry fountain. We recommend walking along the Crimean embankment . From here you can see the monument to Peter I .

Boring Garden
The landscape park is a continuation of Gorky Park. In addition to green alleys, it is notable for a number of interesting buildings. One of them is Alexandria Palace . After the revolution, this luxurious monument of classical architecture was turned into the Moscow Furniture Museum and was included in the famous work of Ilf and Petrov “The Twelve Chairs”.
Near St. Andrew's Pond you will find a small Hunting Lodge . If you watched the show “What? Where? When?, you can easily recognize it as a film set where the experts sat.

Sparrow Hills
Behind the Neskuchny Garden stretch the Sparrow Hills. A huge part of the park is occupied by gardens and the Apothecary Garden of Moscow State University . Flowers are grown here all year round. In the warm months, hundreds of plants delight the eye in open flower beds, and in winter everyone is welcome in the greenhouses.
There are three observation platforms in the park: near the RAS building , in the main building of Moscow State University and “Sparrow Hills” . You will only have to buy a ticket at the university; other observation points are available for free. a cable car station next to the Vorobyovy Gory observation deck . Victory Park on Poklonnaya Hill
The memorial complex with monuments and exhibitions is located along Kutuzovsky Prospekt. The core of the park is the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War (Museum of Victory) and a huge square with an obelisk and the Eternal Flame.
Take a walk from the main entrance past the alley with fountains to Poklonnaya Hill. If you don’t have time for a museum, then you’ll definitely have time to see an open-air exhibition of military equipment and won’t even have to spend money on a ticket.

VDNH
The largest exhibition in Russia is easily accessible by metro. Get off at the VDNH station, then on the way to the complex, take in the Cosmopark with the Museum of Cosmonautics and the monument to the Conquerors of Space.
Entering VDNKh through the main gate, you will find yourself on the Central Alley. It will lead to the exhibition pavilions and the famous Friendship of Peoples fountain . Tourists with children should pay special attention to the part of the park behind the Stone Flower fountain . A mock-up of the Vostok launch vehicle, a Yak-42 aircraft, a Mi-8 helicopter and a Su-27 fighter are installed here.

City estates
Have you explored the center of the capital inside and out? Then head to the remote areas of Moscow, where former royal residences await you. In the summer on weekends there are no less people there than on Red Square, but from November to April it is quite calm.
The most popular is the Tsaritsyno palace and park ensemble . A magnificent building in a pseudo-Gothic style with historical interiors and exhibitions will diversify your leisure time, and walks through the landscape park will help you unwind and take a break from the bustle of the capital's streets.
Tsaritsyno Photo: © Elena V.
The second most visited complex, Kolomenskoye , is also located in the south of Moscow, about 4 km from Tsaritsyno. The reserve will certainly appeal to fans of ancient architecture: majestic churches of the 16th–17th centuries, towers, chambers and houses of Peter I have been preserved on the territory of the estate.
Kolomenskoye Photo: © Katerina Solosyatova
There are much fewer tourists near the Catherine Palace in Lefortovo. The fact is that you cannot go inside, since it houses the buildings of the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. However, you can walk along Krasnokursantsky Square and from it see the Golovinsky Palace (the second name of the residence). And there are exhibitions in the Museum of the Russian Guard , which is opposite the palace, or in the Museum of Insomnia in Lefortovo Park .

Museums and art spaces
Including visits to major museums on the weekend, be prepared to spend a good half of the day on them. As a rule, during the tourist season it is quite difficult to get into the Pushkin Museum on Volkhonka, the main building of the Tretyakov Gallery on Lavrushinsky Lane or the Historical Museum on Red Square - sometimes the queues stretch for tens of meters and only a limited number of visitors are allowed inside.
Tretyakov Gallery Photo: © Marina Rybakova
The situation is much easier with small museums. The queues there accumulate on the third Sunday of the month, when entry becomes free.
In Moscow on the weekend you can go for free to the State Defense Museum of Moscow , the Ilya Glazunov Gallery , the New Manege Exhibition Hall , the Shilov Gallery , as well as the Marina Tsvetaeva House-Museum , the K. G. Paustovsky Museum , the M. A. Bulgakov Museum .

In art spaces in Moscow, works of contemporary artists, sculptors and designers are exhibited, lectures and concerts, fairs and festivals are held. Such sites are located in the workshops of manufacturing enterprises and therefore have a special atmosphere.
The Red October cluster is familiar to every tourist; a chocolate factory with a recognizable logo flaunts in the very center of the city on Bolotny Island. The remaining locations are well known to Muscovites, but guests of the capital, limited in time, do not get to them often. For example, the center for contemporary art “Winzavod” and the art space “Artplay” are both within walking distance from the Kursky railway station , but the tourist flow here is low.
Near the Dmitrovskaya metro station there are several more interesting places: the design , entertainment and exhibition hall “Boilernaya” . Walk along Novodmitrovskaya Street to the railway tracks, cross them and go deeper into the courtyards. Behind the tall glass house, a three-story building with a checkpoint will appear; go around it on the right and see the entrance to the Apple Technology Museum .

VDNH
This is where a tourist should definitely go in Moscow. VDNKh is a place where it will take several days to thoroughly study all the pavilions (pictured above). It is not for nothing that it is included in the top 50 largest exhibition complexes in the world.
An amusement park, the Friendship of Peoples fountain, the Circular Cinema Panorama cinema, the Museum of Cosmonautics, the Butterfly House, the Museum of Optical Illusions - these are a few places that you should visit at VDNKh.
But perhaps the most impressive thing is the Moskvarium. The largest aquarium in Europe, which covers an area of 53,000 m2. On the ground floor there are 80 aquariums in which more than 600 species of animals and fish live. In Moskvarium you can see beluga whales, killer whales, sea lions, seals, white predatory sharks, octopuses, moray eels, stingrays and many other amazing creatures.
In order to create a home for them, it took more than 700 tons of sea salt from the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan, as well as 25,000,000 liters of water. This is the total, total volume. The salinity level is maintained by an additional 80 tons each month.
In general, if a person doesn’t know where to go alone in Moscow, then he needs to go to VDNKh. There is everything: a summer reading room, bicycle rental, a high-altitude ropes course (the first in Russia), the famous “Port” with a real beach and swimming pool, a complex of sports grounds, a flip house, an equestrian club, as well as many shops, cafes and restaurants.
Temples and monasteries
Cathedrals and monastery complexes are an integral part of the history and culture of Russia; pilgrims and curious tourists are always welcome in existing churches.
Cathedral of Christ the Savior
Being in the center of Moscow, you cannot pass by the Cathedral of Christ the Savior - the golden domes of the Russian Orthodox Church Cathedral can be seen from afar. The cathedral contains sacred relics: particles of the relics of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called, princes and saints, the Nail of the Holy Cross, particles of the Robe of Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. There is also a paid observation deck - stunning views open from a height of 40 meters.

Novodevichy Convent
Another famous complex is the Novodevichy Convent in Khamovniki. This is an architectural ensemble of the 16th-16th centuries, surrounded by a fortress wall with towers. In its center stands the Smolensk Cathedral with ancient frescoes. Tourists are often interested in the Novodevichy Cemetery , included in the list of “One Hundred Most Important Necropolises in the World” according to UNESCO. Famous writers, scientists, musicians, artists and politicians are buried here.

Krutitskoye Metochion and Novospassky Monastery
Look for both attractions near the Novospassky Bridge on Krutitsky Hill.
The Krutitsy courtyard is an archaeological site; historians believe that it was founded in the 13th century. Today in Krutitsy you can see the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary , the Metropolitan and Embankment Chambers , and other buildings dating from the 17th-19th centuries.

The Novospassky Monastery was formed in the 17th-18th centuries. Of particular interest to tourists are the Transfiguration Cathedral and the Church of St. Roman the Sweet Singer with the tomb of the Romanov boyars . Those interested can book a tour of the monastery buildings and museum exhibitions.

Interesting places in Moscow
Not everyone loves historical and religious monuments, museums and parks—some people prefer to explore secluded corners, find locations not included in guidebooks and classic routes around Moscow.
Yards
Not only St. Petersburg is famous for its unusual courtyards—Moscow also has something to boast about. For example, on Makarenko Street, in the courtyard of an ordinary residential building No. 6, an entire zoo is hidden. True, this is more of a poultry house - crested pigeons, guinea fowl, swans and a peacock live in the enclosures. The entire household belongs to the resident of the house.
To feel the gloomy atmosphere of the courtyards, come to Nikitsky Boulevard (it's just a 20-minute walk from Manezhnaya Square). Between houses No. 12 and No. 12a there is an entrance to one of the courtyards-wells, and there are 5 of them in total!
Not far from the garden named after. For Bauman, a courtyard with sculptures awaits the nosy tourist. The place near the house on Sadovo-Chernogryazskaya Street, near house No. 13/3, is a walk-through place and getting here won’t be difficult.
Hippodrome
Do you want to go to the races? Then welcome to the Moscow Hippodrome. The journey from the Belorussky railway station to the sports facility takes 25 minutes.
Races are held on Sundays, and on Saturdays guests are invited to view the exhibition and listen to stories about famous riders and horses.

How to sign up for vaccination through State Services
Each person decides for himself whether he needs to be vaccinated against coronavirus. Experts say the country needs overall immunity of more than 60%. So far this figure is only 30% and the Ministry of Health is doing everything to increase immunity. You can get in line to receive the vaccine under certain conditions. You must have a verified account on State Services in order to receive a QR code after vaccinations. In the process, you will also need a compulsory health insurance policy.
- Open the State Services portal in your browser – https://gosuslugi.ru;
- Log in with your personal data, as well as your phone number;
- On the main page there is currently a link “All coronavirus services”. Use it to jump to the sections you need;
- A page with a button “Sign up for vaccination” will open on the screen;
- Go to the form and fill it out with all the required data.
- Select your hospital visit date and complete registration.
The form will include important information that you should review. It says here who can get vaccinated and who the anti-Covid drug can harm. In this case, you should contact the clinic at your place of residence to get a medical clearance. Vaccination takes place in two stages. A vaccine consisting of two components will be injected into the patient's body. This information is included in the certificate that will be issued after the second vaccination.
Weekend in Moscow with family
Moscow has many amusement parks, children's theaters and museums where you can go on a weekend with your children. We advise you to head to the Presnensky district of the capital and go to the Moscow Zoo . The oldest zoo in Russia is home to about 8 thousand pets (animals, birds, fish, reptiles). Tours are provided for visitors, and children under 17 are admitted free of charge.
Not far from the zoo is the Moscow Planetarium . The distance between them is about 750 meters and along the way is the V. I. Dahl Museum .
The planetarium in Moscow is one of the most popular places for children's leisure. For young researchers, interactive exhibitions dedicated to astronomy and physics, expositions with models of planets have been created, and films about space are shown in the cinema hall. The complex has an open area with an observation deck and telescopes; everyone can use them to watch the stars.

Even in the Presnensky district you can admire one of the seven famous Stalinist skyscrapers - the House on Kudrinskaya Square . From this square, go down Novinsky Boulevard to house number 25 and you will see the House-Museum of F.I. Chaliapin and the Norkomfin House (a monument to constructivism).
Povarskaya Street, rich in ancient houses, monuments and museums, begins from Kudrinskaya Square Novy Arbat . At the beginning of the street there is the Museum "P. I. Tchaikovsky and Moscow” , a little further the Sheremetev House and the A. M. Gorky Apartment Museum . But if you turn onto Bolshoi Rzhevsky Lane at Bunin Square , you will find yourself in the Museum of Dead Dolls . This is a creepy place for horror movie lovers. It is not recommended to go here with small children, but teenagers like it. Do not confuse it with the Museum of Unique Dolls on Pokrovka .

When is it necessary to get a second Covid vaccination?
Recommendations for behavior and prohibitions after the first vaccination against Covid are the same as for vaccination against other viruses. The injection site on the body should not be wet for several days. A ban on alcohol and sports is added. The doctor himself sets the date for the second vaccination. He tells it to the patient. Typically, the interval between vaccinations is 21 days or three weeks. After this time, you must return to the same doctor to receive your final dose of the vaccine.
The patient receives a paper certificate. It can be used for access in the same way as a QR code. But a digital pass is more convenient to present.
The code can be downloaded after vaccination from the State Services website, where it appears within 24 hours. The image can be downloaded to your smartphone. But there are cases when patients are faced with the fact that the code is not on the site even after 24 hours. These situations are foreseen and there are already solutions to this problem.
