Kataysk

- a city in the Kurgan region of Russia, the administrative center of the Kataysky district and the urban settlement of the city of Kataysk.

By Order of the Government of the Russian Federation dated July 29, 2014 No. 1398-r “On approval of the list of single-industry towns,” the urban settlement of the city of Kataysk is included in the category “Single-industry municipalities of the Russian Federation (single-industry towns), in which there are risks of deterioration of the socio-economic situation”[2].

Located on the Iset River (a tributary of the Tobol) at the mouth of the Katayka.

Population - 12,781[1] people. (2016).

Story

• Hydronym after the name of the Bashkir tribe Katai.
• From the 19th to the beginning of the 20th centuries, the village was a major grain trading center.
• 1655 On the banks of the Iset, at the mouth of the Katayka, on the land of the Kara-Katay tribe, the Cossacks founded a settlement - a fort, which they called Kataysky.
• 1668 The Katai fort was transferred from the department of Verkhoturye to the department of Tobolsk district (subordination). The main reason is that it stood on the trade route going from Tobolsk to Moscow and played an important role in the defense of the settlements of the Tobolsk district.
• 1695 In the fort and the villages surrounding it there were 58 Cossack households and 269 peasant households.
• In 1719, 24 years later, the stockade belonged to the village. Ilyinskoye and 21 villages, in which there were already 550 households.
• 1737 The rebel Bashkirs, under the leadership of Bepeni Toropberdin, Tyulkuchura Aldagulov, Mandar Karabaev, Yuldash Suyarembetov and others, fought for the fort.
• 1774 The peasants of the Katai fort rose up, formed a detachment and with two cannons arrived near the Dalmatov Monastery to the marching chieftain Prokhor Pesterev.
• May 31, 1791. The temple was consecrated in the name of the Epiphany.
• 1832 A parish school was opened.
• 1871 In the Katai volost, there were 120 literate people, that is, one literate man for every 38 illiterate people and one “reading” woman for every 484 who were not familiar with the Primer.
• 1881 The telegraph line was put into operation. Katayskoye - Kamensky plant.
• October 1, 1900. A medical station has been opened with five beds.
• 1909 The Katai volost library is mentioned for the first time.
• 1910-1912 The volost hospital was built and received the first sick people.
• On November 1, 1913, regular operation of the Sinarskaya - Shadrinsk railway began. Kataisky now has its own railway station.
• By 1914, the Katayskaya volost included 9 settlements: the village of Katayskoye, the villages of Troitskoye, Koryukovskoye, Ilyinskoye, Cheremisskoye, Borovskoye, the villages of Korableva, Savina, Sheveleva. In the village of Katayskoye there were 272 households with a population of 1362 people. There were 14,551 people living throughout the volost.
• Spring 1918. Transfer of power from the hands of the volost government to the hands of the Soviets.
• In 1919, the Katai village council was formed in the Katai volost of Kamyshlovsky district.
• Based on the resolutions of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee of November 3, 1923 and November 12, 1923, the Kataysky district was formed as part of the Shadrinsky district of the Ural region.
• On February 12, 1944, the village of Kataysk received the status of a city of regional subordination with the inclusion of the settlements of Korablevo, Troitsk, Odino, and Savino within the city limits.
• On February 1, 1963, the Kataysk district was abolished, and the city of Kataysk received the status of a city of regional subordination.
• On January 12, 1965, the Kataysky district was formed, the city of Kataysk was transformed into a city of regional subordination.
• On May 12, 1965, the village was transferred to the administrative subordination of the Cathay City Council. Coniferous (used c.u. of the Katai State Poultry Plant)

In the hut there stood a taken French banner leaning in the corner, and the auditor with a naive face felt the fabric of the banner and, perplexed, shook his head, perhaps because he was really interested in the appearance of the banner, and perhaps because it was hard for him hungry to look at dinner for which he did not have enough utensils. In the next hut there was a French colonel captured by the dragoons. Our officers crowded around him, looking at him. Prince Bagration thanked individual commanders and asked about the details of the case and losses. The regimental commander, who introduced himself at Braunau, reported to the prince that as soon as the matter began, he retreated from the forest, gathered woodcutters and, letting them pass by him, with two battalions attacked with bayonets and overthrew the French. - As I saw, Your Excellency, that the first battalion was upset, I stood on the road and thought: “I’ll let these through and meet them with battle fire”; I did so. The regimental commander wanted to do this so much, he regretted so much that he did not have time to do this, that it seemed to him that all this had actually happened. Perhaps it actually happened? Was it possible to make out in this confusion what was and what was not? “And I must note, your Excellency,” he continued, recalling Dolokhov’s conversation with Kutuzov and his last meeting with the demoted man, “that the private, demoted Dolokhov, captured a French officer before my eyes and especially distinguished himself.” “Here I saw, Your Excellency, an attack by the Pavlogradians,” Zherkov intervened, looking around uneasily, who had not seen the hussars at all that day, but had only heard about them from an infantry officer. - They crushed two squares, your Excellency. Prince Andrey looked at Tushin from under his brows, and his fingers moved nervously. “Your Excellency,” Prince Andrei interrupted the silence with his sharp voice, “you deigned to send me to Captain Tushin’s battery.” I was there and found two thirds of the men and horses killed, two guns mangled, and no cover.
