Map of Shchelkovo in detail with streets, houses and districts

If you follow the road from the Moscow Ring Road to the northeast, then after 15 km you will meet the small town of Shchelkovo on the way. This is one of the administrative centers of the Moscow region. As the satellite map of Shchelkovo shows, the city is located in the Klyazma River basin, residential areas are built on both banks of the waterway, which divides the city into 2 parts.

The city is surrounded by dense forests, lakes and small rivers. There are a lot of green spaces on the streets of Shchelkovo, and lakes and ponds are favorite vacation spots for city residents in hot weather. On the map of Shchelkovo with diagrams you can see such objects as:

  • Main roads and streets;
  • Enterprises;
  • Microdistricts;
  • Forest belts;
  • Railway;
  • Educational and cultural institutions;
  • Temples;
  • Stations.

The city is located on the north side of the railroad that runs through it. You can see the location of railway stations in the city and suburbs on the map of Shchelkovo by district.

The settlement on the banks of the Klyazma was recognized as a city in 1925. At that time, the oldest silk weaving enterprise in Central Russia operated here. Today, city-forming and small enterprises operate successfully within the city, which form the economic stability of the settlement.

General information and history of Shchelkovo

In the northeast of Moscow there is a highway called “Shchelkovskoye”, as well as the final station “Shchelkovskaya” of the blue metro line. Everyone knows the highway and the station, but not everyone knows the city after which they are named. Shchelkovo is located on both banks of the ancient Klyazma River and has gathered towns and villages around it, forming one of the most economically prosperous areas of the Moscow region.

Unfortunately, no historical documents have survived from which it would be possible to determine the origins of the name of the city. But according to one version, the city owes this name to the Krivichi tribes, who during the times of Ancient Rus' settled on one of the banks of the Klyazma. Near the city of Uglich, where the Krivichi also lived, a river flowed, which in our time has already dried up; its name was Shchelkovo.

The first mention of the village of Shchelkovo in surviving documents dates back to the 16th century. And since 1917, the village became the administrative center and a few years later the Shchelkovo volost was formed. Since 1925, Shchelkovo has received the status of a city, so this year is considered the date of its foundation.

Old Shchelkovo

The city rapidly developed as an industrial center. Since ancient times, a silk weaving factory operated there; the heyday of the enterprise occurred in Soviet times. After the collapse of the USSR, some factories were closed, but today large industrial enterprises operate successfully in the city. In addition, the trade and service sector is rapidly developing in Shchelkovo, therefore, the choice of place to work is quite wide.

The Shchelkovsky municipal district is located in the northeast of the Moscow region, 25 km from Moscow. It borders in the south with the urban district of Balashikha, in the west - with the cities of Korolev and Ivanteevka, Mytishchi district and Pushkinsky district, in the east - with the Noginsky district, the urban district of Chernogolovka and the urban district of Losino-Petrovsky, in the north - with the Sergiev Posad district, urban Krasnoarmeysk district and Vladimir region. On the territory of the district there are three cities of regional subordination (Fryazino, Losino-Petrovsky, Zvezdny Gorodok), 4 villages (Fryanovo, Sverdlovsky, Monino, Zagoryansky) and 95 rural settlements. The administrative center is the city of Shchelkovo .

The total area is 69.1 thousand hectares. The population of the district as of January 1, 2008 was 187,479 people.

The Shchelkovo region is an ancient territory through which the Northern Slavs settled south in ancient times. Witnesses of these ancient flows of the 10th–12th centuries. - burial mounds and traces of settlements along the banks of the Vori and Klyazma rivers. And today the quiet Klyazma and fast Vorya, groves and ancient protected forests attract travelers and nature lovers.

During the formation and rise of the Moscow Principality, the region was already firmly mastered by the Slavs - the ancient princely villages of Petrovskoye (previously 1330s) and Aristovskoye (Aristov Pogost, Losino-Petrovsky) appeared on Klyazma, the monastic village of Dushenoe (1377; today - Dushonovo), the ancient trading fortress of Sherna-gorodok (near Mogutov; 12th century - Novgorod trading post; 1382) and many others.

In the 17th and 18th centuries there was a process of strengthening of villages and concentration of the population. In the middle of the 18th century, the village of Grebnevo comprised a network of villages: Shchelkovo, Fryazino, Chizhovo, Novaya, Trubino, Nazimikha, Sloboda and the village of Toporkovo. There were 220 households in which 1,269 people lived (622 of them were men). Grebnevo itself at that time did not have peasant households. A decree of 1769 allowed peasants to engage in industrial activities. On December 8 of the same year, 15 Grebnev serfs, the first in Russia, received the right to produce “various silk fabrics and scarves” at the manufactory board. This is how one of the earliest and largest nests of handicraft silk weaving appeared in Russia.

But there were not only peasant enterprises in the Shchelkovo region. In the village of Fryanovo (first mentioned in the Scribe Books of the 16th century), there was a noble possessional click-weaving manufactory, which employed hundreds of workers. Industrial production in Shchelkovo and the district in terms of volume of products produced in value terms clearly prevailed over agricultural production. For the population of many villages and hamlets, industrial labor became the main source of livelihood.

At the beginning of the 19th century, in conditions of aggravation of Russian-French relations, the silk-weaving peasant industry, which received raw materials from France and Italy, fell into decay. But after the defeat of the French it gains strength again.

In 1832, a Prussian subject, a native of the city of Elberfeld, Ludwig Rabeneck, bought from the landowner Durnovo part of the village of Sobolev in the bend of the river. Klyazma (on the right bank) and a year later founded here, with the permission of the tsarist government, the first yarn-dying establishment in Russia. Under Rabenek's sons it grew and became one of the largest in the province.

In the 30s of the 19th century in Sobolev, closer to Shchelkov, E.F. Keneman founded a large cloth factory.

At the end of the 19th century, the Shchelkovskaya branch of the Northern Railway came into operation. In connection with the construction of the Aleksandrov-Ivanovo railway, it became unprofitable to maintain the Stromynskaya road from Aniskin and further for the sake of the Fryanovskaya factory. In 1897, the Novokhomutovsky highway Fryanovo-Nazimikha-Grebnevo-Sloboda-Aniskino was built with access to the Stromynskaya road.

After the victory of Soviet power, Shchelkovo became an administrative center that united the former volosts of Bogorodsky district - Oseevskaya, Grebnevskaya, Ivanovskaya and Aksenovskaya.

At the end of the civil war, the Shchelkovsky district, being almost 4 times larger in territory and number of inhabitants than an ordinary volost, was in the position of a volost in legal, financial, budgetary, and economic relations. This caused complications in management.

On September 1, 1923, in the Shchelkovo volost there were 71 settlements, 3,880 households and 33,441 residents, in the village of Shchelkovo - 203 households and 9,944 residents, in the village of Shchelkovo - 130 households and 594 residents.

In Soviet times, the Shchelkovo region became the center of scientific and technical centers of aviation (Chkalovsky, Monino), astronautics (Star City) and satellite communication systems, navigation and cartography (Bear Lakes, Shchelkovo-7), radio electronics (Fryazino), biology (Biokombinat village ).

Today, the economic potential of the region is formed, first of all, by industry, the main industries of which are: chemical and chemical-pharmaceutical, mechanical engineering and metalworking, woodworking, food and processing.

The main highways of the area: Moscow-Chernogolovka ( A-103 ), Moscow Small Concrete Ring ( A-107 ), Fryanovskoe Highway ( R-110 ), Yaroslavsko-Gorkovskoe Highway. And also local roads: Ivanteevka-Shchelkovo, Shchelkovo-Bolshevo, Aniskino-Monino, Overpass-Bear Lakes, Zhegalovo-Zagoryanka, Zhegalovo-Solnechny, Solnechny-Potapovo.

All modern natural landscapes of the region, to a greater or lesser extent, reflect the influence of human economic activity over many centuries. Here, in essence, there is no primitive nature left untouched by man.

The climate of the Shchelkovsky district , like the entire Moscow region, is moderate continental. The average monthly air temperature ranges from -13?C in February to +23?C in July. The average annual temperature is 4.5-5.2? C. Winter is moderately cold and lasts about five months. Summer is moderately warm. Annual precipitation is 470–538 mm.

The region is rich in rivers: its southern part is crossed by the Klyazma and Ucha ; central - Vorya (left tributary of the Klyazma ) with Pruzhenka , Lashutka , Zdekhovka , Lyuboseevka ; northern - tributaries of the Sherna - Dubenka and Melezha .

There are many small lakes and 38 springs in the region. The largest of the lakes are Bolshoye and Maloye Medvezhye . Bear Lakes is a chain of three lakes: two small with a total area of 0.12 square meters. km and one larger one, with an area of 0.4 sq. km.

In the area there are: Cosmonaut Training Center named after Yu.A. Gagarin , Air Force Academy named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Yu.A. Gagarin, other military institutes and centers where the latest models of military equipment are developed and tested.

In the area there are unique historical places, museums, historical and cultural monuments: Shchelkovsky Museum of History and Local , Museum of the Cosmonaut Training Center , Central Air Force , , Museum of the Food Service of the Russian Armed Forces , Museum of Military Uniforms , Fryanovsky Historical and Local Lore Museum museum . In the area there are 33 historical and cultural monuments that have an established protection zone, among which the most significant are the estates: Almazovo Estate , Glinka Estate , Grebnevo Estate Litvinovo Estate , Lukino-Varino Estate , Nikolskoye-Timonino Estate , Obraztsovo , Petrishchevo Estate , Estate Raiki , Ryazantsy Estate , Savinskoye Estate , Fryanovo Estate .

Climate and ecology

The climate in Shchelkovo is typical for central Russia. The average monthly temperature in February is about –13ºС, and in July +23ºС. Winter is not characterized by severe frosts, and summer is not characterized by scorching heat, so the weather is almost always very comfortable. The terrain is mostly composed of plains and small hills.

The Shchelkovo region is rich in forests and rivers, as well as small lakes. There are forests both within the city of Shchelkovo and in its immediate vicinity. The largest lakes are considered to be the Bear Lakes - a chain of two medium-sized lakes and one large lake. There are also many springs in the area where you can get clean drinking water.

One of the largest bodies of water is considered to be Quarries - flooded pits of dolomite deposits. The water in them is clean and transparent, but the topography of the banks is steep, the bottom goes sharply deeper, therefore, swimming in them is recommended for those who are good swimmers.

There are several industrial enterprises located within the city, so environmental problems periodically arise. In previous years, residents suffered from significant atmospheric emissions from the Chemical Plant, but now the situation is under control and the air is quite clean. One of the main problem areas is the Shchelkovo interdistrict treatment plant, which periodically emits unpleasant odors and pollutes the atmosphere.

Also, water bodies are greatly affected by the enterprises. For example, the Klyazma River, once wide and clean, has today turned into a place of wastewater accumulation. Tap water samples also often do not meet sanitary standards, therefore, it is better to stock up on water in springs, where it is healthy and tasty. The good news is that the state of the environment is regularly monitored and a set of measures is being developed to solve existing problems. Although, of course, it is difficult to accurately assess the extent to which these measures are being implemented.

But those who want to breathe exceptionally clean air and swim in a clear body of water, fortunately, have such an opportunity. As noted above, there are many forests, lakes and springs in the Shchelkovo region. Therefore, you only have to drive 20-30 kilometers from the city to enjoy the fragrant forest air and drink spring water. Numerous lakes are hidden in the forests, some of them are not often visited by people, and therefore the water there is clean and pleasant.

In general, Shchelkovo residents love to spend their free time in the lap of nature. Near the Vorya River you can often find vacationers setting up tents, tables and stocking up on food for the whole day. There are also many dog walkers and cyclists in the city itself.

Population of Shchelkovo

In terms of the number of residents, Shchelkovo is considered a fairly large city, about 116 thousand people live in it, and the city area is 8,500 hectares.

The majority of the population is Russian, but there are also many Tatars in the city. Since the 80s, they came here to work and formed their own autonomous community. The first functioning mosque in the Moscow region was built in the city, which indicates a noticeable share of Muslims in Shchelkovo. Although, of course, the majority are Orthodox here. The city recently built the Trinity Cathedral, which at first glance looks like a Catholic church.

Trinity Cathedral

If you walk around the city, you will notice a significant number of natives of neighboring countries. This picture is typical for the vast majority of cities near Moscow due to their attractiveness in terms of the required labor force.

So, for example, if in Russian cities of another region the service sector is mainly staffed by students or pensioners, then here, as in Moscow, it is often guests from the former Soviet republics. However, the most nimble of them have already taken root here quite tightly and are doing business.

In general, Shchelkovo residents are friendly people. As a rule, most neighbors know each other and often sit, chatting, on a bench at the entrance.

For the most part, the city is inhabited by people with average incomes; very rich or very poor people are extremely rare here. The proximity of Moscow allows many to get a good higher education; there are also representative offices of some Moscow universities in the city, so you don’t have to travel to the capital.

Due to the industrial specialization of the city, most of the population were workers. But recently this situation has changed dramatically due to the active development of the service sector. However, the layer of intelligentsia in the city does not play a significant role. Of course, good doctors and teachers work in Shchelkovo, but the city is more focused on production. Unlike, for example, neighboring Fryazino, which has the status of a science city.

But Shchelkovo can be proud of being associated with the names of great cosmonauts. Even Gagarin himself lived in the Shchelkovsky district while working in Star City.

And now the city mini-football team “Sparta-Shchelkovo” is coached by the favorite of Moscow “Spartak” fans and its former captain, Andrei Tikhonov. Due to financial difficulties, the team is still in the first division, but with the arrival of an eminent coach there is hope for promotion.

Districts and real estate Shchelkovo

The city of Shchelkovo is the center of the Shchelkovo district, which in total includes more than a hundred settlements. The city administration manages the entire city at once. That is, Shchelkovo, although it is divided into microdistricts, does not have separate management for the microdistricts.

These microdistricts consist of villages included within the city (Khotovo, Potapovo), as well as various territories, designated both by characteristic names (Solnechny, Zarechny, Dalniy Voronok) and simply by different numbers (Shchelkovo-3, Shchelkovo-7).

Shchelkovo Map

The Klyazma River flows through the entire city, and it seems to separate the old and new parts of the city. The right bank is mainly built up with old two-story buildings and Khrushchev buildings. However, apartments in such buildings are sold at a fairly high price due to their proximity to main transport routes and various institutions.

Traditionally, the most developed part of the city is its central part. Proletarsky Avenue runs here, which flows into the Shchelkovskaya highway leading to Moscow. You can often see traffic jams on the avenue, since this is the main road in the city, and there is no backup road yet.

Proletarsky Avenue

The largest shopping centers and markets are also located here, and a high-rise hotel is being built - the first skyscraper in the Moscow region. On the right bank of the Klyazma, construction is underway on a de luxe class house, with 17 residential floors, in which the most expensive apartments will be sold, the price of which starts from 12,600,000 rubles.

New building project

The immediate center of the city is Lenin Square, which Shchelkovo residents simply call “the square.” It contains the “zero kilometer” of the city, the administration building, a monument to the leader of the revolution and a modern cinema, which was built on the site of the old one. There are two cinemas in the city, both of which allow you to watch films in 3D.

Lenin Square in Shchelkovo

The city limits of Shchelkovo include several villages, so there are quite a large number of private houses on the outskirts of the city. But also new microdistricts consisting of new buildings are appearing in Shchelkovo. New houses here are mainly built in the format of an entire residential complex, creating all the necessary infrastructure specifically for it. Already now, residential complexes such as “Gagarinsky” and “Bogorodsky” are densely populated; apartments in them can be purchased from about 55 thousand per square meter.

By the way, “Gagarinsky” is located next to the world-famous star city, where both Russian and foreign cosmonauts are trained.

The Solnechny Park residential complex is distinguished by its convenient location relative to communications with Moscow, from which you can walk to the Voronok platform in a few minutes on foot. The journey to Moscow by train will take 50 minutes, and you will immediately get to the metro station, from which you can reach the Kremlin in 7 minutes.

Voronok

On the south-eastern outskirts of the city there is a military airfield Chkalovsky, which is now also used as an international airport, mostly used for air cargo transportation. For this reason, you can often see planes taking off and landing over the city, flying at such an altitude that you can clearly see the appearance of the plane. At first, the noise from flying airplanes may be unusual, but over time this sound will no longer attract attention.

If we talk about the prestige of microdistricts, then “Far Voronok” is considered one of the not entirely favorable ones. Now it is already being built up with new buildings, but there are still a lot of dilapidated two-story houses left.

Map of Shchelkovo with streets

The city has an elongated structure from northwest to southeast and covers an area of about 52 km2. The number of Shchelkovo residents reaches 116 thousand people.

On the map of Shchelkovo with streets you can see that the city is crossed by the regional road R-110, which runs through the eastern part of the city perpendicular to the railway line. You can get to Moscow along the A-103 highway.

There are few major highways in the settlement, but they are of great length. Main streets of Shchelkovo:

  • Central;
  • Moscow;
  • Frunze;
  • Sverdlov;
  • Nekrasova;
  • Talsinskaya;
  • Proletarsky Avenue.

In order not to get lost in the intricacy of city transport arteries, it is best to use a map of Shchelkovo with streets and houses, which also indicates the direction of city passenger routes. Local residents are used to moving around the city and region by buses and electric trains.

There are several railway passenger platforms in the city:

  • Sokolovskaya;
  • Funnel;
  • Shchelkovo;
  • Gagarinskaya;
  • Chkalovskaya;
  • Bakhchivandzhi.

Traffic in the city is very busy, crossing streets and the railway line is quite difficult. Currently, the only underground pedestrian crossing has been built and operates in Shchelkovo. You can find its location on a detailed map of Shchelkovo in the area of Proletarsky Prospekt.

On the southern outskirts of the city there is a military airfield where Russian Air Force aircraft are based.

City infrastructure

The state of Shchelkov's infrastructure is quite good, if we give a general assessment. Interruptions in the supply of water and heat are rare; the city has its own electrical and heating networks, most houses are equipped with gas and water meters. The streets, at least the central ones, are regularly cleaned, and in general the city is clean. Utility fees for a two-room apartment average about 4,000 rubles.

Public transport in the city is mainly represented by minibuses; there are also several large buses. Minibuses run not only within the city, but also in nearby towns and cities, providing connections between Shchelkovo and other settlements. Transport runs quite regularly, and even after 9 pm you can still get home. For those who are really late, numerous taxi drivers are happy to provide their services.

You can get to Moscow by train - there are 5 platforms within the city, the whole journey will take about 50 minutes or less. Minibuses also run regularly along the Shchelkovskoe highway to the bus station and the Shchelkovskaya metro station. You can also get to Moscow by car along the Yaroslavskoe Highway, which leads directly to the All-Russian Exhibition Center. In the absence of traffic jams, the journey by car along both roads will take about 30 minutes.

Health issues can be addressed in both public and private institutions. Shchelkovo has two hospitals and clinics, drug treatment and psychoneurological dispensaries, dental clinics, medical laboratories, etc.

The city's provision of schools and kindergartens is significantly deteriorating every year. The city is being actively built up with new houses, which will lead to an intensive increase in the number of its residents, and new educational institutions are not being built. But the problem must be solved in the near future, because otherwise the city will not develop.

This is a modern 5-story building with an additional 9-story tower, which houses the offices of various companies. The building rises above the city center and offers a beautiful panorama of Klyazma and its surroundings.

Crime

In the 90s, in Shchelkovo, as in many Russian cities, chaos was happening. Murders, robberies and robberies were commonplace. Today the situation is much better. Of course, various domestic and other crimes are committed today, but not at every step. The crime situation is not covered in too much detail in the local, much less in the federal media. Ordinary residents should be wary of hooligans and thieves - young people looking for funds to buy drugs, as well as particularly evil-minded guests from neighboring countries.

However, those who want to do business here should collect as much information as possible on the topic of various groups, since there are enough of them in the city and they will not leave businessmen without the attention. If you start your own business here without good knowledge in this matter and the presence of relevant acquaintances, be prepared for the fact that you will be bothered from time to time.
