- a municipal entity with the status of an urban district, located in the east of the Moscow region of Russia. Within the framework of the administrative-territorial structure, the city of regional subordination of Orekhovo-Zuevo with its administrative territory corresponds to the administrative-territorial unit.
The head of the Orekhovo-Zuevsky urban district is Ruslan Valentinovich Zaglovatsky.
City `s history
Orekhovo-Zuevo was formed as a result of the merger in 1917 of the villages of Orekhovo, Zuevo (the oldest, known since the 13th century (first mentioned in 1209 - Volochyok Zuev)) and the town of Nikolskoye, as well as the factory village of Dubrovka.
Orekhovo-Zuevo is one of the oldest centers of the textile industry in Russia, which has been developed in Orekhovo since the 18th century (from the beginning of the activities of the Morozov entrepreneurs). In 1862, traffic on the single-track Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod line was opened through Orekhovo. In 1890, there were 17 factories in Orekhov, employing more than 30 thousand workers.
Orekhovo-Zuevo is the center of the strike movement of the 19th and early 20th centuries. (the Morozov strike, one of the largest in Russia, took place here in 1885); Orekhovo-Zuyevo workers took part in the revolutionary movement of 1905. Since 1901, a district committee of the RSDLP existed in Orekhovo (headed by Ivan Babushkin).
In 1904, under the leadership of L. B. Krasin, a power station was built, manufactories and municipal services were electrified. In 1916, the first dielectric plates were produced. On August 17, 1917 the city received its modern name and status.
In 1943, the Big Ring of the Moscow Railway passing through the city was closed, and in the 1960s a marshalling station was built.
Number of inhabitants: 1926 - 62.8 thousand; 1939 - 99 thousand; 1974-125 thousand; 1993—135 thousand; 2000-125 thousand; 2005—122.2 thousand; 2010—121.1 thousand; 2012- 121,300 people
Climate and ecology of Orekhovo-Zuevo
Yuryev-polsky attractions
The climate of the city, as well as the entire Moscow region, is not very pleasant, since real summer, when you can actually walk around in shorts and sleeveless vests, begins only in July (the thermometer joyfully shows 30-35 degrees), and ends in early August. Winter also comes late, usually snow falls at the end of December, or even in January, and persistent severe and unpleasant frosts (up to -30 degrees) begin only in February.
Winter city
Most climates are transitional periods from summer to winter and vice versa. Temperature ranges during these periods jump from -5 to +18.
The city is located next to peat bogs and almost every autumn there is smog in the city, and in 2010, when the problem of peat bog fires affected even Moscow, in Orekhovo-Zuevo it was no longer possible to make out anything at a distance of 10 meters.
The ecology of the city is quite acceptable, since there is nothing particularly polluting it. Yes, there are a couple of strange factories here - Karbolit and Respirator, and the first one was noticed in a spill of 200 tons of phenol, however, this disgrace was not shown on the central television channels, just as they did not show the liquidation of the accident, but every resident of the city is aware of this event. Despite this, people continue to swim on Lake Isaac, into which compounds of this substance could theoretically enter through groundwater, and it is unlikely that a folk trail will ever grow there.
Culture, education
Museum of History and Local Lore, drama theatre, two cinemas (Rodina, Luxor, DK Karbolit), six clubs and houses of culture, a children's school, an art school, a sports school, three stadiums, the Vostok Sports Palace, two clubs sports ballroom dance (“LeMaxDance”, “Diamond”).
Until 1994, in the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo there were 27 libraries, including branches, including: Central State City Library named after. Gorky and its 4 branches, the District Library, the Technical Library, the Central Trade Union Library and its 9 city and 8 factory branches; There were also libraries at large city enterprises: at “Respirator” and at “Karbolit” (technical library). All libraries were built with trade union money; this money was also used to purchase library collections and pay salaries for library workers. As of 2009, there were 3 libraries left in Orekhovo-Zuevo (counting branches): the Central State City Library and its two branches: children's and adult general education libraries. On September 9, 2011, the grand opening of the library took place at the “Dream” cultural and leisure center on the street. Embankment. [ source not specified 249 days

Tired of walking around the city, you can relax in one of the parks, take part in the attractions, watch concerts or other performances. Guests and residents of the city like the “Melnitsa” forest park, called the Park Forest.
The site of Morozova’s dacha was chosen for the creation of the City Park of Culture and Recreation. Members of the Morozov family, management and other specialists of the Morozov manufactory previously lived on its territory. It was surrounded by a fence. The entrance was guarded.
In 1918, this place became a children's park with active carousels, a shooting gallery, a library, and a corner for playing checkers and chess. Later a theater and restaurant appeared there.
For a long time it stood in desolation. In 2011, work began on its improvement. It was decorated with fountains, flower beds, and tree seedlings. New attractions were brought in.
Now the City Park has many exciting attractions:
- autodrome;
- velomobiles;
- trampoline;
- fun slides;
- various slot machines.
And what fun do children get from visiting a contact mini-zoo, riding electric cars, a mini-train or wandering through a laser maze?
City Park
There is a pond in the park. Fans of water activities have the opportunity to take a boat trip, swim on catamarans, and fishermen can even fish.
There is a restaurant in the park where you can enjoy Japanese rolls, juicy pizza, hot dishes and delicious desserts.
Sitting in the shade of trees, you can have fun using wireless Internet.
The city park is located at: Komissariatsky deadlock, 7.
The 30th Anniversary of Victory Park was opened in 1975.
30th Anniversary of Victory Park
At one time it was not given due attention, and gradually it fell into disrepair. Along with the City Park, since 2011 it is being transformed every day. A fountain has been installed and the area is being landscaped. His former popularity is returning.
The May 1st Park previously bore the name of the Morozov Folk Festival Park. This was the favorite recreation area for factory workers in Nikolskoye.
1896 is the date of construction of the summer theater venue. The open stage was used for the first performances. A few years later, a theater was erected on the site of this site, accommodating 750 spectators. In buffets and shops, workers were offered fruit and kvass.

A significant event was the charity concert of Fyodor Chaliapin in the summer of 1918. Money was collected to open a workers' canteen.
The park is located between Proletarskaya and Krasina streets.
The family recreation center “Melnitsa” is a historical place where the border of the Kyiv principality passed in ancient times; later, the organizers of the revolutionary movement met there. The results of archaeological excavations made it possible to substantiate a number of scientific discoveries.
This forest park area is located on the banks of the Klyazma. It’s worth setting aside a separate day to visit it, perhaps making a second trip to Orekhovo-Zuevo. It's nice to just stroll through a well-kept park. There are many gazebos, benches for relaxation, and walking paths. In addition, at any time of the year there is a lot of entertainment that children and adults will enjoy:
- The modern stage hosts performances by artists, various events and competitions.
- In winter, there is an outdoor skating rink and a ski trail with lighting. Skate rental services are available. Visitors enjoy sledding and tubing down the ice slide.

By the Law of the Moscow Region of March 20, 2022, the urban districts of Orekhovo-Zuyevo and Likino-Dulyovo, from April 1, 2022, were united into a single municipal formation, Orekhovo-Zuyevo urban district.

By the Law of the Moscow Region of June 3, 2022, the city of Likino-Dulyovo was transferred to the administrative subordination of Orekhov-Zuev from June 16, 2022: thus, the city of regional subordination of Likino-Dulyovo with its administrative territory was abolished[8].

After the merger of Orekhovo-Zuevsky and Likino-Dulevsky urban districts into one urban district in order to exclude the presence of the same categories in two settlements of the same name, by Decree of the Governor of the Moscow Region No. 652-PG dated December 27, 2022:
Architectural monuments
One of the oldest buildings surviving from the end of the 19th century is Ogloblin’s house. Until 1905, the factory manager Morozov lived in it. After the arrival of Soviet power it contained:
- City Council;
- children's orthopedic sanatorium.
Today it houses a department of the regional psychiatric hospital.
Ogloblin's House
A memorial plaque was installed in honor of the memory of Ogloblin.
Address: Lenin street, 48.
On the same street is the Old House of Soviets, a 3-story building built in 1912. Its design was created by the architect Bugrov.
The house was inhabited by office workers, engineering and medical workers from the Nikolskaya Manufactory factories. The remarkable thing about its layout is the abundance of small rooms and large, long corridors.
In 1932, a 4th floor was added to the house. There is a memorial plaque on the building that Lenin visited it.
Old House of Soviets
Address: Lenin street, 63.
Another oldest building is the 1st City Hospital, built in 1905. The project was developed by architect Galetsky. His teacher Shekhtel worked in the Art Nouveau style. At that time, the hospital was equipped with advanced equipment. A new feature was the glass dome over the operating room.
The main building could accommodate up to 280 patients. In addition, there were buildings in the courtyard for additional settlement if necessary. There were also buildings for housing medical personnel and the chapel of Xenia of St. Petersburg.
Hospital location: Bugrova street, 26.
The chapel was erected thanks to the patronage of the manufacturer Morozov. This name is mentioned often when it comes to financing many objects in this city, and not only that.
The author of the project in the Art Nouveau style is architect Galetsky. It was built over three years, from 1903 to 1906.
Chapel of Xenia of St. Petersburg
Since 1998, restoration work has been carried out on it, since it was partially destroyed after being closed with the advent of Soviet power.
It runs a Sunday school and a library.
It is located at the address: Bugrova street, 12.
What else can you see on Bugrova Street, named after an active participant in the Morozov strike? It contains:
- workers' barracks, erected in 1908;
- remains of a water tower built in 1896.
The buildings are gradually being destroyed.
But you can still attend a performance at the existing Winter Theater. Its external interior is in excellent condition.
Its opening took place in 1912. It was built over 8 years. It became a semblance of the building of the Moscow Art Theater. The names of the founders and performers are repeated. It exists thanks to the sponsorship of the Morozov manufacturers. Galetsky was brought in again as an architect.
Winter Theater
It was the first theater created for workers, seating 1,342 visitors. Absolutely all residents could visit it. Workers were attracted to the theater troupe. Its name has changed more than once. Since 2003 it was renamed the Winter Theater. The same building houses the Gorbunov Landscape Gallery.
Address: Bugrova street, 5.
Settlements
The urban district (a city of regional subordination with an administrative territory) includes 178 settlements, including 4 cities and 174 rural settlements[7].
