The forests located on the territory of Balashikha belong to the Noginsk branch of the Mosoblles. Vast forest areas are located both around the territory of Balashikha and within the city limits. These plantings belong to a number of forest parks located on the territory of the Noginsky forestry: Kuchinsky, Gorensky, Ozerny and Saltykovsky (until 2006 they were part of the Balashikhinsky special forestry enterprise), as well as to the Losiny Ostrov national park. This forestry is federal property.

The total area of ​​the Noginsk forestry is 75,182 hectares, of which more than 7,100 hectares are concentrated within the borders of Balashikha. These forest areas, most of which are located along the banks of the Pekhorka River and its tributaries Gorenka, Chernaya and Malashka, are included in the area of ​​​​responsibility of four district forestries - Saltykovsky, Ozerny, Gorensky and Kuchinsky. The largest of them in terms of area - 2,020 hectares and volume of work performed - is Kuchinskoye.

Senior district foresters and their assistants represent the Noginsk forestry enterprise and provide all forest protection work in forestry on the territory of Balashikha. Their work is supervised by the senior district forester of the Gorensky district forestry, Evgeniy Poplyakov.

“The Noginsk branch of the Mosoblles was organized by order of the Forestry Committee of the Moscow Region in the summer of 2012. In the urban district of Balashikha, the average survival rate of seedlings is quite good - 78 percent. On sandy soil, pine survives almost 90 percent,” said Evgeny Poplyakov.

In 2022, as part of sanitary and health measures in the territory of Balashikha, sanitary and health measures are planned on the territory of all district forestries. This includes clear sanitary felling on a total area of ​​more than 47 hectares and artificial reforestation on a total area of ​​33.68 hectares - under the state order and on a total area of ​​13.88 hectares - under the state contract.

“From 2014 to 2022, young forests were planted, mainly coniferous species: spruce and pine - depending mainly on the type of soil - on an area of ​​more than 1,000 hectares,” said Evgeniy Poplyakov.

Among the trees, coniferous species predominate - pine, spruce, linden and birch grow, and in the undergrowth the most common are rowan, buckthorn, hawthorn, and euonymus. And also - rare species of herbaceous plants for the flora of the Moscow region: May lily of the valley, European swimsuit, forest forget-me-not and others. Various species of waterfowl nest on ponds and rivers. On the territory of the forest park, specially protected areas are allocated, constituting more than half of the total area, including swamp complexes that absorb carbon dioxide from the air, and rest zones for the reproduction of animals. The northwestern part of the forest park is bordered by the parks of the ancient estates of Gorenki and PehraYakovlevskoye.

In the northwestern part of Balashikha, on the border with Moscow, there is the GORENSKY FOREST PARK with an area of ​​1,358 hectares. It received its name from the Gorenka River flowing through its territory - the right tributary of the Pekhorka, which flows into the Moscow River. From the north, the territory of the forest park is separated from the Losiny Ostrov forest area by the Shchelkovsky highway. The forests here consist mainly of coniferous pine-spruce plantations, many centuries old, with deciduous undergrowth. Among the trees, the red oak stands out for its beauty. In the northern part of the forest park there is a small forest lake Dilevo, to the south there is a large Mazurinskoe lake with an artificial dam, and to the east there is a unique mesotrophic swamp, intermediate in the nature of nutrition and vegetation between lowland and raised swamps.

LAKE FOREST PARK is located in the northeastern part of Balashikha. Its area is 1,791 hectares. The forest park is a single forest area stretching from the eastern shore of Pekhorka along the Entuziastov Highway from west to east - 6 km, from south to north - 5.5 kilometers. The underlying sands and clays of the Jurassic period create a water-resistant layer that promotes swamping and the formation of numerous lakes. The vast swamps of the forest park are natural filters that feed rivers and streams. Such areas maintain the ecological balance of the area.

On the territory of the Ozerny Forest Park there are valuable pine forests where relict trees older than 150 years grow. There are natural monuments of regional significance, including the Meshchersky lake-swamp complex, lakes Yushino and Baboshkino, where special piers are equipped for swimming for adults and children. All of these are lakes of natural origin, as are the Krugloe, Kozlovo, and Maryino lakes located not far from each other, which are favored by fishermen. There are many medicinal plants in the forests, raspberries and blackberries, and hawthorn. The fauna is represented by moose, wild boars, martens, hares and squirrels, and occasionally you can see a muskrat. The bird world is represented by various species of ducks, rarer inhabitants are black grouse, hazel grouse, capercaillie and even the green woodpecker.

SALTYKOVSKY FOREST PARK is located in the southern part of Balashikha on an area of ​​1,012 hectares. The places are incredibly beautiful, attracting many generations of painters. It is known that 19-year-old artist Isaac Levitan, living at his dacha in Saltykovka near Moscow, painted the painting “Evening after the Rain” (1879). It depicts the forest cover of the Saltykovsky forest adjacent to the railway. Currently, this place is located on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street. The name of the forest park is associated with the appearance of a stop, later transformed into Saltykovka station during the construction of the Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod railway, approximately in 1863. Saltykovsky Forest Park consists of five separate forest areas, spaced from each other at a distance of 0.3 to 4 kilometers. The Pekhorka River and its tributaries flow through the territory of the forest park; the decoration is the Zhelty and Tarelochkin ponds. There are 4 springs near the estate. On the territory of the forest park there are unique burial mounds of the Slavic Krivichi tribe of the 11th-12th centuries, located in groups in the valley of the Pekhorka River.

The forests of the Saltykovsky Forest Park are represented by coniferous and broad-leaved tree stands approaching 100 years of age. The main species that form the appearance of the forest park are pine, spruce, birch, oak and linden.

The OLGINSKY FOREST PARK with an area of ​​72 hectares, located in the Olgino microdistrict, is also popular among residents of Balashikha. Included in the Saltykovsky district forestry, block 13. The main tree species are birch, oak, spruce, pine. Selective sanitary felling was carried out here in 2022; sanitary measures are planned here in 2022, after which reforestation work will be carried out.
