Holidays in Feodosia - freedom for both children and adults

Geography and climate

Feodosia is located in the southeast of the Crimean Peninsula on the gentle slopes of the Tepe-Oba mountain range. The city is located on the shores of the Black Sea bay of the same name and is surrounded by low mountains to the south and west. The climate of Feodosia is transitional between temperate continental and subtropical. It is characterized by hot, often dry summers and mild winters with rare frosts.

How to get there

Gone are the blessed times when it was possible to get from Russia to Feodosia by train.
After the events in Ukraine, railway communication with Crimea was interrupted and trains do not go to either Simferopol or Feodosia. Now you can get to Feodosia from Simferopol by flying there by plane.

1. Electric train. You can get from Simferopol to Feodosia by train, unfortunately not direct, but with a transfer in Vdadislavovka, which is located 17 kilometers from Feodosia. But this is not the most comfortable route for tourists burdened with luggage.

2. Bus. From Simferopol to Feodosia depart from the Kurortnaya bus station, which is located near the railway station, every 20-40 minutes. The bus covers a little over 100 kilometers to Feodosia, depending on the condition of the road and the time of year, in about 2 hours 30 minutes. The fare is 125 rubles. You can get to Feodosia and take the next bus to Kerch.

3. Minibus taxi. Minibus taxis also run between these cities.
Moreover, the undoubted advantage of this type of transport is that some minibuses depart from the airport. You can get to Feodosia by minibus faster, in 1.5-2 hours. The ticket price is 100-120 rubles. 4. Taxi. The most comfortable transport is, of course, a taxi. The cost of a non-elite class car is 2000 rubles. It is advisable to order a car in advance and not rent it upon arrival in Simferopol. This will save not only money, but also nerves.

5. "Hellow traveler." It is very popular in Simferopol. It’s not always the case that four people come on vacation, which makes it possible to rent a car for everyone. You can pre-book not only a car, but also travel companions. Then a taxi ride per person can cost 215-250 rubles.

6. Train. For those who prefer to travel by train, you can get to Anapa, and then by bus to the ferry across the Kerch Strait, by ferry to the Crimean shores and by bus to Feodosia.
For the convenience of vacationers, a single ticket has been introduced, the price of which includes travel by bus to the ferry, transfer by ferry and bus to Feodosia.

Detailed information about the schedule, tickets, prices for a single ticket can be obtained in Russia by calling: +7 499 2152215, in Crimea by calling +(38) 0652)544232.

7. Catamaran. There is also a sea route to Feodosia. Back in June 2014, a catamaran was launched on the route “Anapa – Feodosia – Yalta”. Buses take you from Anapa to the catamaran. Catamaran schedules and fares are confirmed at the beginning of each summer season.

But we must not forget that the sea is an unpredictable element, and the Kerch Strait is not the calmest place on the Black Sea. Therefore, people who suffer from motion sickness should not use this type of transport.

Story

Feodosia is one of the oldest cities in Crimea and the world. The settlement here was founded by the Milesian Greeks back in the 6th century BC. In the 4th century BC. Feodosia is part of the Bosporus Kingdom. After 8 centuries, the ancient city was destroyed by the Huns and fell into decay. In the 5th century AD the settlement came under the control of the Byzantine Empire. The Byzantines controlled Feodosia almost until the 13th century. Then the settlement was subjugated by the Golden Horde.

The name of the city is translated from Greek as “given by God.”

In the 13th century, Theodosius was bought by Genoa. The Genoese built a fortress and a large trading port here, renaming the city Caffa. By the 15th century, Caffa's population surpassed even Constantinople.

Feodosia. Genoese fortress

In 1475, Feodosia was conquered by the Ottomans and renamed Küçük-Istanbul. The city was under the control of the Ottoman Empire for two centuries. At the end of the 18th century, Feodosia, like the whole of Crimea, became part of the Russian Empire.

In the 19th century, Feodosia was visited by Pushkin and Chekhov. The famous artist Ivan Aivazovsky also lived and worked here.

Public transport

Feodosia is stretched along the coast + there is a very active connection with neighboring villages: Primorskoye, Ordzhonikidze, Koktebel.

As you remember from the map above, in Feodosia there is a bus station (Fedko St., 101) next to the railway. Aivazovsky station and a bus station (Nazukina St., 3) next to the Central Market.

From the 1st there are intercity departures (there are ongoing flights from Simferopol to Koktebel), and from the airport they travel to neighboring villages. Here are the most popular ones:

  • No. 101 in Koktebel
  • No. 104 in Ordonikidze
  • No. 106 to Primorsky

There are complaints about local transport: used. state of confident occupancy along the route. So, if you are traveling far, it is better to take the bus, of course.

Attractions

Genoese fortress
Genoese fortress is one of the main attractions of Feodosia, built in 1343. It is interesting that this powerful fortification was built in just a few years. During its heyday, the fortress had 11-meter walls with a length of about 5 km, which were protected by three dozen towers.

To this day, the Kaffa fortress (compared to a similar building of the Genoese in Sudak) has not been preserved very well. The southern wall and several of its towers are best preserved.

One of the best-preserved towers of the fortress is the Tower of Clement, built in 1348 and named after the Pope of the same name. The tower has several tiers, loopholes and a battle platform at the top.

Tower of Constantine

The Tower of Constantine is considered one of the main symbols of Feodosia. It was built in the first half of the 14th century and named after the Byzantine emperor of the same name. The tower is made of limestone blocks and topped with stone battlements. The walls, whose thickness reaches 2 m, are equipped with loopholes.

Iversky Temple

The Iversky Temple was built in the 14th century, and maybe even earlier, being one of the most famous landmarks of Feodosia. Interestingly, the church consists of two parts: a simple square extension and an arched structure with columns, topped with a dome.

There is another ancient church in Feodosia, named after the archangels Michael and Gabriel. This building was built at the beginning of the 15th century. Fragments of frescoes and remains of old slabs have been preserved inside. A beautiful bell tower is attached to the building. Unfortunately, the ancient temple is closed to visitors and is in dilapidated condition.

Crime

Compared to the turbulent nineties, modern Feodosia can be called a calm city from the point of view of crime. Those who used to take money from businessmen at the market and in cafes put on business suits instead of leather jackets and went to power. There are petty thieves and drug addicts left on the street, ruining the lives of themselves and people from time to time.

However, in the summer, with the influx of vacationers, the so-called “tourists” also come here. It is at this time that the number of thefts and murders increases.

The criminal history of Feodosia added another entry in the summer of 2013, when the mayor of Feodosia, Alexander Bartenyev, was shot at the entrance of his house. The killer was never found, the main version is robbery. However, given the criminal past of the late mayor, as well as the style of doing business in the city, no one denied the possibility of a contract killing. By the way, Bartenyev’s murder is the fifth in a series of murders of Crimean mayors in recent years.

In March 2013, a high-profile traffic accident occurred in Feodosia: at high speed, the driver of a car (an SBU officer) rammed an ambulance rushing to the hospital with a seriously ill patient. As a result of the accident, a doctor and a paramedic died. The patient's father was severely injured. The SBU officer was found not guilty, the case was hushed up, and the killer, who was most likely simply drunk, was transferred to serve further in Simferopol.

Photo from the accident scene

In May 2008, Feodosia was rocked by a high-profile incident: a 32-year-old driver, whose license was taken away and his car was sent to the impound lot, set fire to the local traffic police department. While extinguishing the fire, 8 traffic cops were injured, including the head of the traffic police, who received serious burns. The driver himself died on the spot. It’s hard to say whether the traffic cop was right when he took away the driver’s license. However, police brutality does occur in the city.

Interesting museums of Feodosia:

  • The Museum of Antiquities is one of the oldest museums in Europe, founded in the early 19th century. Its collections span the period from Antiquity to the 20th century.
  • House-museum of the famous writer A. Green, in which he lived from 1924 to 1929.
  • Museum of Money - interesting collections of ancient coins and modern banknotes.
  • The Aivazovsky Gallery is a magnificent art gallery that includes more than 10 thousand paintings of marine themes, including several dozen works by the legendary master.

Where to stay for vacation?

Feodosia offers tourists who choose to holiday in Crimea a wide range of accommodation options - from hotels and boarding houses to houses and rooms in the private sector, where you can stay for literally pennies.

Among the hotels of the resort, the three-star Feodosia Hotel stands out, located 150 meters from a well-maintained clean beach. Here you can choose from rooms of any level - from “standards” to “suites”. The classic design style, wide range of amenities, excellent restaurant and quality additional services, including medical massage, make this place very popular among visitors.

Boarding houses in Feodosia are distinguished by the good quality of services offered and excellent living conditions. For example, the Afalina guest complex with a sauna, multi-level outdoor pools, free Wi-Fi throughout the entire territory has standard and family rooms and comfortable suites.

It is located only 80 m from the beach.

Demand for the private sector occupies a leading position in terms of recreation options in Feodosia without intermediaries. Here you can find a wide variety of accommodation - from inexpensive rooms to luxury rooms. The owners are trying to improve the territory to the maximum - conditions for relaxation in the open air are provided almost everywhere, including gazebos and barbecue facilities, playgrounds and car parking.

An example is the rooms on Zheleznodorozhnaya Street, not far from Pearl Beach, where accommodation is offered in a two-story cottage with four air-conditioned apartments with all amenities.

The most beautiful places in Feodosia!

Church of the Icon of the Kazan Mother of God!

Short description

The most beautiful places in Feodosia!
This city can rightfully be considered the pearl of the Crimean peninsula. Feodosia is a unique monument of Russian history and architecture with museums, monasteries, fountains, and friendly locals. A resort with a long history, golden beaches and various hospitals. In a short period of vacation it is difficult to cover all the diversity of the Black Sea paradise, but it seems that I managed to do this by visiting the main attractions of Feodosia.

Beaches

The beaches of Feodosia are numerous and varied. There are more than 10 beaches along its coastline, the width of which ranges from 35 to 50 meters. Many of these areas were landscaped and pebbles were brought here. Sandy beaches stretch along the sea for 15 kilometers to the village of Primorsky. It is the comfortable beaches that make this city a real seaside resort.

"Gold"

The most famous, largest and popular on the entire coast of Crimea.
And this is no coincidence: 15 kilometers of golden sand, which gave the name to the beach. The sea is quite shallow, the increase in depth is gradual, sun loungers and umbrellas, beach activities - everything is almost ideal for a good beach holiday.

But there is also a drawback - Golden Beach is located 5 kilometers from the center of Feodosia and you can get to it by minibus or taxi. The journey takes 10 minutes. Even despite this inconvenience, vacationers willingly go to Golden Beach.

There are also “wild” areas on the territory where there is nothing but sand.

Umbrellas and sunbeds on civilized sections of the beach are free , you only have to pay for changing cabins.

Along the beach line there are many cafes and restaurants where you can have a snack. Therefore, you can spend the whole day here and fully enjoy the warm sea. In addition, there are several children's mini-water parks with pools and slides.

"First City"

Located in the very center of the city. beach is also .
The sea here is shallow and almost always calm; it takes a long time to get to deep places in shallow water. The water on Children's Beach warms up faster and takes longer to cool down. The beach, located on the embankment, is easily accessible from anywhere in the city.

The beach is paid , which allows us to provide service at the proper level. A fee is charged for entry to the beach, as well as for umbrellas, sun loungers, mattresses and sun loungers.

On site there are showers, changing cabins, toilets and a small spa.

The beach is small - 300 meters long and 40-50 meters wide. Coarse sand is mixed with fragments of shells, so for comfortable walks along the shore you need to have slippers. On Children's Beach you can ride a scooter, a banana and a flatbread.

"Pebbles"

This is the central beach of the city. It got its name from the pebbles that cover it, perfectly rolled by the sea. “Kameshki” is the most popular in the city, it is located in the center, admission is free.

The territory is quite large: 1 kilometer long, 40 meters wide. The depth near the shore is convenient for families with children.

The beach has good infrastructure:

  • sunbeds;
  • sun loungers;
  • mattresses;
  • umbrellas;
  • changing cabins;
  • shower;
  • toilets.

Only changing cabins are available for a fee.

There are many sports activities on the beach: volleyball, basketball, badminton, table tennis. Children can enjoy inflatable slides and slides with a plunge pool. At the water sports station you can ride a scooter, banana and bagel.

Right on the beach there is the Africa entertainment complex , which has a bar, cafe and restaurant, as well as the Water World attraction with slides and a swimming pool. It's good here in the evening too. There are bars and restaurants, and at night discos with laser lights.

Entertainment

Feodosia is a year-round resort. Therefore, there are many clubs, discos, restaurants, some of which are open all year round, while others only during the holiday season.

This summer nightclub, which is located on the seashore, has been around for many years.
The club changed its name several times, but the last one stuck for a long time. This name is justified by the famous foam parties, the idea of which was born here. They are the main feature today. In the summer, many young people enjoy spending time here to the sound of the waves and lively music.

Club address: Feodosia, st. Kurortnaya, building 4.

Restaurants

There are a lot of restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, and fast foods in Feodosia, especially during the holiday season. Crimea does not have its own original cuisine.

Therefore, in every restaurant menu, the quality and originality of the dishes depends solely on the imagination and preferences of the cook. The restaurants described below are included in the rating of the best restaurants in the city. But even most of the best restaurants do not have air conditioning, which greatly spoils the experience.
